Power supply should have come from the underside. Equals neat clear work surface. But then it’s easy to be critical. Nice job👍
Totally agree with mains power cables should be routed and fixed on the underside of the table for a cleaner look and have access to the bench space at the rear. That bench is proper beef!! :)
Remember to cover the polisher while using the grinder or dust from grinder might contaminate polishing mops. You won’t want to inadvertently use homemade grinding paste instead of polishing compound!
Nice job, looks solid. A suggestion if I may: Drill another set of holes 90° to the ones on the bench so you can mount buffer sideways with a wheel over the front edge if needed. This will allow you to buff odd shaped, longer or larger pieces and choose the side with the appropriate wheel.
Excellent stuff! I'm truly envious, these are so useful, and that bench is awesome, well done sir!
Well, it’s functional. Given the type of materials you chose to use and the methods in which you attached them together i certainly wouldn’t “put a ship on it.” Good effort. I’m the supervisor in a joinery department at work and have been known to be very critical. Enjoy your bench Sir, I’m certain it will last you many years.
Thanks mate, as you saw, it's just a rough stand, made from pallet wood and a scaffold board, sourced from the skip! Its' strong enough to jump on, as you saw, and it's screwed through to the stud behind the wall, so it'll do the job.. carpenter I certainly ain't!
nice Del.. take the plugs off , hold behind the grinders pass wire through, another hole upto the plugs. :) fit plug back in to correct length of wire.. no snaky snaky wires..
Compressor is going under the bench, cables would get caught up in it..! they're pinned down expressly so they Don't get get dragged into the fan.!
@@Moonfleet41 hmm what about some conduit held in with some plastic P clips ? :-) just thinking the safety side of things.. yu dont want a chunk of metal that you are working on to slip out yur hand and hit the wires, but if yur happy ill stop over thinking haha
Dell the bench It will be a great asset to your workshop don’t forget the modified Kellogg’s cornflake boxes over the back of the polisher wheels!!
Every time I watch you build something out of wood I thank God I own a circular saw 😁
I really like that you use hand tools.
Haha, no doubt about it buddy you got special way of doing woodwork, love it. The main thing is you ended up with something you made. Keep going fella.
Thanks 👍 mate, I said it was monkeyboy carpentry, I'm ok doing it, I just have to look out for wood chisels flying in my direction now and again!
Should be happy with that boss. Can’t wait until I’ve got a powered good sized work shop! Love the vids mate
Just couple of things i would say is put the cables through the bench out of the road of bits of metal getting pulled out your hand and hitting the cables on the top of the bench , and your yellow polishing wheel leave it hanging over the end of the bench a bit so you can polish bigger pieces without the bench being in the way ,, but that's just my opinion ,, and i love the way you use what you have to build ,,those sceeds normally end up in a skip ,, looking forward to the new build !!!
Thanks buddy... cables on top for a reason, ill be siting the compressor under the bent, so can't afford to have any cables dangling about under there, not even any slack, so i pinned it all to the top out of harms way.. and yeah, it's cool to build stuff from old scrap wood.
i like the workbench and the grinder and polisher. you may consider putting or attaching something easily cleanable under the polishing heads. cleaning the polish off the wood each time i bet gets old.
Nice job Del. Sometime in the future, I bet you re-mount the buffer on a diving board style shelf, the width of the motor, so you can buff longer parts without hitting the bench. Ask me how I know.
Hey Joe, yeah, i thought about that already, not sure how it'll go, i have a pedestal stand, but it's saved for another small machine in the future.. Hope the bike project is progressing.
Very nice! You could park a train on that little bench!
Del, carpentry glue holds much stronger than any screw, next time used a carpentry glue in addition to screws. The power wires had to be hidden under the table in a hidden way. Leave the table free. Besides, you are a champion.
Looks really nice Del! Thumbs up. I like the bench, and nice polisher and grinders as well. Only thing I'd have done differently is to drill holes behind each machine and drop power cords down/under... just for a cleaner look and perhaps more functional. But it's awesome as-is. Looking forward to this new project.
Hi Donald, did consider that, but i want to keep the compressor under there, and don't want the cables getting dragged into the fan..!
Yes. We just had some 26c-28c last week! Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1st. We had a visit from "Dorian" last September. Seven days without power! Ouch!!!!
There's nothing Del can't do 👏🏼
You are all rounder🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
So many critical comments. You did a brilliant job Del. Looking forward to seeing the blasting cabinet and the next project. Take care
Hey Rory , well said . I just revamped my little workshop with stuff I had no shops involved .It's all solid and functional and works fine for me..Exactly what Del just did. No idea why people are so critical .. Peace and Love brother 👍🏻☮❤
Springy2112. You are lucky. My shed just has enough room for my Hornet and a tool chest! Quite the squeeze
Nice job Del. Got my tiger 885 back now just have to get us to riding her. Keep safe and ride safe.
Hi Gerry, that's great news mate, take it steady aye, enjoy the rides and keep that recovery rolling, take care, Del
Did I just watch someone build a grinder bench and not get bored? Yup. Great little build. The power lines bug me a little but I don't think that your ever going to store things behind the grinder and buffer anyway. I'm thinking of possible storage space that could have been saved.
Very much so mate, there's always a temptation to dump something conveniently on an open piece of bench, just look at how much clutter evolves on the back of the other bench! So it will certainly stop that... plus the compressor will eventually go under there, so I don't want any dangly wires touching it. Thanks for watching mate.
Enjoying your work. But please swap your tool rests round on your grinder. Sloping section away from the wheels as previously mentioned. Ride safe. Looking forward to the next project. 👊🤘😎
Oh nice polisher grinder bench
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Del, I think that was a strange tip to get from a biker. How to get the cut on the wall brace, brilliant! Will remember that one and a great set up, invaluable as I discovered this year when I bought a bench grinder, which I changed to wire wheel and buffing mop, it came with 2 grinding stones. I now wonder how I managed without it. Thanks again.
Hi James, most welcome mate, and good to hear from you always.. Hope you're having a good week.. take care and keep in touch. Del.
The garage will fall down before that bench. Defo not a chippy but good job. Well done. Pity power cables are on top but simple to rectify by cutting / removing plugs and drill four holes in bench. Might even reduce length of cables at the same time.
Open 3pin plugs, make hole in table and feed cables under the top, put plugs back together ;) more usable space on the back of the grinders for bits and bobs or spares.
Cheers mate, couple of reasons why not, you should never stack things behind a grinder in case they fall on it whilst it's running, even more so with the polisher, as it has no guards at the back, anything touched by a wheel will be flicked up in your face... and also under the bench I intend to stow the compressor, so don't want any dangly wires near it... it's all thought through mate, right or wrong.... thanks again and have a good week, Del
Yes... you are 100% right.
Hi Del - Greetings from Halifax, Nova Scotia Can!
What a great job!! I think you should take some of that Patreon money and buy yourself a circular saw! Lol! And don't forget the eye protection when using those two new toys! Can't wait for the next video. Cheers!!!!
Hi Ron, great to hear from you, what a beautiful place you live, we hope you're hetting some fine weather now, it'll soon be summer!
Very cool and very strong. Nice one.
Thanks Richard, good to hear from you, hope you're keeping sane during all this madness and managing to get out on the bike now that we're allowed to.
Great job Del 👍 it might be worth you putting a clear acrylic sheet on the wall behind the polisher. It will Only costs a few quid and will prevent all the crap off the polisher messing the wall up. Wipes off easy 👍
Forgot to wax the saw to cut the pencil🤣
Dammit, i knew someone would notice.. Must try harder..
Made me laugh. Seen your latest videos. Now we know you were preparing for a rusty triumph. (Love you tt)
Your tt!!
Take the finish bike to "The Bike Shed Motorcycle Club"
Good job Del. Watching you using the hand plane somehow reminded me of my dad in his garage on his work bench 😀
Thanks Alan, im the same, i learned what tiny amount i know about wood working from watching my Grandfather 45 years ago or more.. and somehow it makes me feel connected to him doing it this way.. power tools bring the profit through time saved, hand tools bring the pride through time spent..!
Good day, Del see if you can put or fix some galvanized sheet on your wall as you will find very dirty after while from the dust and metal particles good job again man thank you, Robert, from Aus. PS and you are a very good carpenter no joke
Blimey, thank you Robert, I've no carpentry skills at all, just watch what others do and emply a few tips from Grandpa back in the day, like the wax on the saw and making a straight cut by standing directly above it... thanks for your kind words mate, hope you're all keeping safe and well down under.
Proper bench Del! Nice set-up👌🏼 And that blaster...you are gonna make some hours standing behind that cabin 👍🏻 Can't wait for the new project to start!
Good job on the extra benchtop, Del. I started my channel back up with a cleanup rehab project on an 06 Honda Rebel. You might wanna watch the first episode since I’m testing out a chrome polish that I bet you’ve never heard of. It’s just as good on chrome as that Kroil was on rusted bolts that I sent you. Give it a watch and tell me what you think. I’ll try and send you some if you wanna give it a go.
Hey buddy, great to hear from you and great to see you back online... I was thinking of you yesterday doing the first work on Day1 of the new project, some heavily rusted chassis threads on the bike, I cleaned up the protruding thread with some Rostoff Ice and brushed all the excess crud away, then drip feed the Kroil on to the end of the thread and, as ever, it was amazing to watch it get sucked in to the nut like magic... and the threads just wound straight off with the impact gun... important because they're super fine metric threads on really expensive factory only bolts, so it was great to restore them and Kroil played a big part... I love the way it just bleeds itself down in to the thread... I'm going to have to keep a supply of that when this can runs out! That polishing paste looks very much like what we know as Solvol Autosol, it's a German polish, much the same, it's a magic white paste that cleans rust away instantly... and we've sworn by it for years... thanks for the kind offer, but don't go to the expense of sending any, just focus the budget on your Rebel build, I'll be watching with interest, but appreciate that, it's very kind of you. Stay well during these times, always good to hear from you.
Delboy's Garage Yeah, mate. I’m glad you’re loving the Kroil and thanks for giving my video a look. I’ll keep plugging away on my project little by little. Can’t wait to see your new one. I’m gonna be doing the complete front brake system rebuild here in the next few vids. I’ll definitely be giving you a shout out. Later.
Excellent job Del, who's got some new toys to play with then lol. Penny and you have a good week, stay safe mate. Cheers
Hand saw and a hand plane traditional hand tools 🛠 nice one Del excellent vid as usual
Makes any job satisfying aye.. Thanks buddy.
Looking good man 👍 paint booth next is it , hope you and penny are good man 👍
All good here buddy, blast booth next, and i can't wait.
Hey Delboy, love your work!!!!!!! Keep up the GREAT job. Love you lots. BIG D XxX
Your next project is a restoration. That’s my guess. Nice sturdy bench. Anything you can’t do?
Yes indeed, restoration and a little modification at the same time... think they call it 'restomod'!
Coming from a lifelong carpenter if it’s does it’s job you did it right 🤙
Great as always.Get ready for lots of cleaning up and sweeping with your polishing machine, the dirtiest of jobs. You mention a blast cabinet? Im sure you already know its all about the compressor output. Cabinets use so much air and the one in your video may struggle. Entertaining as always. One last thing, get some extra mops and buy some abrasive polish, it comes in different grades and will save you lots of time if you serious about polishing. Keep it up son, love the effort you put in. Well done as always.
Done lots of polishing back in the day, mainly for work in my days on the tools.. and yeah, you go home looking like a coal miner !! The compressor was sourced expressly for the blast cabinet, picked because it has 20% higher CFM than the booth requires.. a few test runs have proven the numbers work.. i can blast constantly and the compressor runs for less than 50% of the time, so keeps up and replenishes in short time.. The booth is a small DIY unit, not as air hungry as a big one. ! Thanks for your support..
Nice chippy work Del lad
Bench is better than a bought one .🙂
Cheers mate, certainly stronger.
Stunning job, real pleasure to...listen! Just a question - does the candle trick works on a circular saw blade as well?
A circular saw blade shouldn't need lubricating.
Run your cords under bench and then come up to the power point !
Compressor is going under there, don't want cords getting wrapped around it..!
Delboy's Garage
Run the cords in holes one directly at the back of the grinder and polisher to take the wires under the bench then bring them back up through the bench at the back wall to the power socket.
Cable clip them to the underside and trim the cables to length.
Get your workspace back.
Sweet set up, Del! You have some serious skills there, Mate... BTW, are you able to get your compressor out from under the bench? Looking forward to the next project, too! Hope you both are doing well!
🏍👍🏻🏍
Hey Gary, thanks for your kind words... only monkeyboy skills I'm afraid, but it's straight, square and strong so it'll do the job! Yes, eventually the compressor will come out from under the big bench and go underneath here instead, it's only under the big bench for convenience at the moment, but needs more space for cooling, so the space underneath here is bang on for it! Hope you're both well and keeping safe, we're fine, bus preparing the shop for re-opening on 15th, all the best to you both, D&Px
Delboy's Garage - modest as always & gotcha regarding the compressor- sounds great! Good stuff re the shop and hope your day job opens up soon. 😎
Good work Del
Blasting cabinet?!?!? Hell yeah, I've been wanting one for a while now, can't wait to see it Del. I feel like I'll be spending some money as soon as I've watched your video on it.
Now now Del PPE when using a grinder and a polisher!!!!
Full face shield on the polisher..
Good catch!
Good building something from scratch 👍 great work bench
True Dat Brother.
@@Moonfleet41 I built my own work bench , as the timber was free to good home, so made use , still steady as a rock 10 years later
Congrats on the new toys and job well done on the bench ;-)
Del paint that ceiling ha.
Enjoy your woodworking projects Del, but get some longer screws! haha
Use what you have aye mate... Thanks for your support.. !
That's beef ! New toys - niiiice
Polishing wheels make a helluva mess Del, consider a panel against the wall ?
Everything i do makes a mess buddy, in some ways thats why i love this.. hope you're all safe and well there say hi to 'B' form us too.. D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 Ha Ha !! We're mostly able to get back to work next week, seem to be on a similar schedule as you guys. Peace & Love from B !
Yup that's beef!! Some nice additions to the garage there Del. My Grandpa taught me the same with the candle. Keeping it Old School & their memory alive. Nice one bro. Curious as to the next project....Awrabesht to you both from me and all the clan. 😉💙👍
Old skills are the best skills aye brother, good to hear from you, take care of the Clan. D&Px
Another good video, just need to paint the other work bench to match..workshop is looking pukka, looking forward to the next upcoming project!!
Love the choice of paint, battleship gray⚓️⚓️⚓️
Nice bench Del 👍🏻 I got a sealey polisher last year it works a treat. Get some scotchbrite type wheels for it too, they give a brushed finish 🤩
Scotch wheels.. ill have to look into those, sound perfect for what i have in mind with the new project. were they Sealey items too mate ?
New bench for some new toys as I always say. LOL Looks great Del. Paint booth is next right?
Aloouuu, mecânico, projetista, serralheiro, marceneiro, ferramenteiro, decorador, parabéns completo. Abcsss
Nice additions to the garage! 👍
Thanks Harold, good to hear from you, great to make a little progress!
Verry nice Del but i dont understand why you make the cables on the tabel , is this not better drilling a hole and put the cables trough the hole is that not more cllean
Can't have cables dangling under bench, compressor is going to live there!
great job
Grinder stand is rigid and vibration free
Yep, and both machines bolted down with capped nuts to prevent over tightening..they both need to be able to flex on their rubber feet to further reduce vibration.
great minds think alike. i did this very same job in my workshop all be it my two bench grinders had seen better days. but i have the same set up ie wire brush/stone on one and two polishing mops on tother.of course, my shed/ workshop isn't as swanky as yours.
Always equipping and upgrading when we can mate, this will save me time and effort long term. Take care.. Del.
Brawo Stolarzu. Pozdrawiam
I think you’ve fitted the work rests on the wrong sides on the grinder.
The dropped edge should point outwards not towards the wheels - you’ve got a nice nip point there to drag work and fingers into the wheel!
As others have said good gorilla build and get ready for fitting curtains around that area to keep the mess down.
i smell a classic bike resto on the way....
Kind of.. !
Well done dell & penny . Great job as always 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks Richard, appreciate your support, D&Px
Simple the best... Good job idol...👏👏👏
Good job 👍🏻 the seat for the busa has to be rolled tan leather lol
Good job.. Hard Work & Lots of It :)
Congratulations on the buffer & grinder, you have needed both for a long time.
Now for some second guessing, Monday morning quarterbacking, 20/20 hindsight; Damn that little stand is hell for strong. Little overkill? Ya think?.
Nice one Del and well shot video guys..
Great editing job on this video. Nice bench too!
Thanks Thomas, it was a fun day.
Painted in battleship grey no less Del, nice strong bench. careful with those guides "if" there are vibrations it will loosen pretty quick, mine does the same. stay safe guys!
They always rattle loose mate, pop a dab of blue threadlock on them and they'll stay but.!
@@Moonfleet41 nice tip cheers Del
Nice addition to unit 👍
Can't go wrong with a scaffold plank work bench, it's what I used topped with sheets of 1/2 inch ply... 👍
Blimey, now that you would be able to park a Tug Boat on..!
😂😂 yeah it is a bit overkill for what I use it for...
nice bench work 👍 #technmoto
Well done Delboy , nice job
thought it was one of my videos , but better produced !! 👍🏻☮❤
When you getting into shipbuilding 🤪🤪 that is one solid bench 👍 👏👏
Well maybe more Tug Boat than a ship... but its solid for sure.
Great job Del.long time since iv seen some1 wax up a saw. Took me back😀
Yeah, old school trick from Grandpa, but still works a treat aye.!
@@Moonfleet41 But did Grandpa use scented candles? Yours looked suspiciously lavender!
.....and we thought Noah built one hell of an ark....don't think so now. Nice job, Del.
Ah, but to build the Ark, he would have needed a work bench first... i just followed the plans for that.!!! Have a good week sir.
Old school work bench 💪🏽
Great video and looking forward to the new build. Busa getting a bit too much for me - think I enjoy the shorter projects (Harley) - but know others enjoy - can’t please them all eh? :-)
As others have said - great bench - my OCDness would have the cables under the bench - but read you need the space for a compressor ?
That aint moving for no one lol
Yes it will still be there when the rest of the garage falls down
Good job mate, but please buy yourself some longer screws it will make your life alot easier..
Just using up what I had mate and it's a long trip to the DIY store! But point taken.
Clever thinking. Bike AND garage now prepped for apocalyptic events!!!!😂😂😂. Confucius say "Wise carpenter always lubes his saw!"😂😂😂. Beef stuff Del, keep it up.
Hey how are you my friend, I have a quick question that doesn't pertain to the video. I just bought a 2012 triumph scrambler 900 and it came with one key to later find out the key slot on the frame is for locking the bars which i never recieved a key for. Just wondering how i would go about getting a new key to lock the steering. Any advice would be great!! Love your videos by the way
Hi Andrew, if you can't locate the steering lock key, then its a trip to the dealer for a new lock... simple to replace.
@@Moonfleet41 slight problem, I live in newfoundland and unfortunately we dont have a dealership here
@@andrewb5816 Hi if you look at the lock there could be a number stamped on it or your handbook and literature that came with the bike may have the number written on it then send for a key from an online dealer. If not I would email Triumph customer services with all the details of the bike, chances are they will have the key numbers on record for your bike then order it from them. They may want proof of ownership. Being remote I can't imagine much crime in Newfoundland to need locks.
I am reasonably good with the geographical position of countries in the world and for some reason always imagined Newfoundland more northern than the UK and where I live in Northern Ireland, we live and learn. I always knew there was a lake named with my surname Lake Melville in Newfoundland, must be named after a Scotsman. What town do you live.
Good luck with the key, or a new lock ordered online. or www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-Steering-Lock-Original-Triumph-for-Triumph-Bonneville-Scrambler/254374849915?hash=item3b39ec2d7b:g:VAMAAOSwypZb3F8j
