    Here is the most beautiful car ever created (don’t argue with me now!). It’s the Range Rover Classic, the first model off the production line. It’s my birthday and for a treat I took a suffix-A (first production run, just like my old one, and a far cry from the Range Rover Sport) Range Rover for a trip around beautiful Wales. A bit self-indulgent maybe, but it was my birthday!

    In December 2018 I purchased a 1989 RRC 3.5 V8 and despite all the neigh sayers, it has been remarkably faultless since. Besides my Triumph Speed Triple 955, it is my everyday transport and has done all sorts of tasks, not least help me move from London to Ireland. It has ferried the old dogs to the vets, the obligatory (and numerous) trips to the rubbish dump, towed a trailer several times carrying all sorts from furniture to a one ton bag of concrete and tomorrow it will be used to help some friends move home.
    It is truly the most remarkable car I have ever owned and the only drawback is that it's a martyr to the drink!

    Pure nostalgia.My dad was an agriculture specialist working in Nigeria, he had a white one in 1973 and later a locally assembled Tuscan blue in 1978, such was my passion from those magic years that I became a technician and worked for Land Rover from 1994-2012 over two continents.Just the sight of a standard Range Rover brought immense delight, it allmost made time stand still, a truly timeless work of engineering and design.No wonder it was exibited at the Louvre museum in Paris as a model of contemporary art.

    I had a 1978 (s) 2 door... I (a real amateur) rebuilt it in a barn in 1997. Totally best car I ever had, lots of issues by modern standards, but simple, and luxurious. And fab off road. Once left mine for 5 months, then on a cold morning it started first time and drove like magic.

    Just discover your channel and I am simply delighted. I had a 3,5L, 155hp ,V8 much much later. In a country, Cape Verde Islands, where you would not find a single spare for it (nor for most part of vehicles). That sensation of sitting in an aquarium, with an incomparable visibility, that music of the V8 ( very often in mine a V7) and the challenge of being prepared to fix something at any time. No doubt, the most amazing vehicle I had!

    a 1974 2 door was my first 'proper' 4wd. Its dirt road handling scared the crap out of me until I replaced all the worn out suspension bushes, & shockies, and the A arm ball joint. The absolute best axle articulation in the soft coastal tracks of West Australia, I loved driving it to the surf spots. Bliss....

    Beautiful video, almost touching. I think everyone has a car that remains in his/her memory for a reason or another. I remember all the ones my father had and thinking of them brings back memories of travels and joyful experiences. I don't know if today there is an offroader comparable to RR Classic; today's Range Rover is such an elite vehicle nobody would - in a distant future - do what you've done here.

    Above all vehicles on the planet, there are none that warm my heart more than the Range Rover.
    Growing up my father always owned them, and the hum of the rover V8 meant he was finally getting home from work.
    My first travels through the outback were in the back of one.
    I learned to drive in one.
    My first 4x4 was one (although sadly it was a P38a and not a classic like I had always wanted)
    It's hard to find a nice example these days, great video.

I grew up in a CJ7 Jeep and I love Jeeps but the range Rover was a great truck and I beat on it wheeling across the Mojave and the ghost towns of the wild west days. Great truck and I am now looking for another.

    You know, the Range Rover original and the Lada Niva are two examples of superior wheel articulation using coils and solid axles. Both are fantastic off road and similarly comfortable. Our Russian friends know a thing or two about off-road design.

    • @GamingAmbienceLive
      @GamingAmbienceLive 7 лет назад +2

      Trust me, Lada sucks ass, the only good examples of lada were the ones sold overseas with air conditioners, the crap they had in russia was _crap de la crap_ of cars

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  7 лет назад +3

      Lada Niva had good off road performance but everything, and I mean everything was truly terrible in every possible way. Russians know a lot about off road design and nothing about anything else. The engine was terrible. The seats cannot really be classed as seats. The heater! In Russian at minus a zillion and the heater was about as effective as two candles in a box.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  7 лет назад +2

      crap del a crap of cars. I agree. And yet more Nivas were made than Land Rovers and Land Cruisers combined.

    • @adelarsen9776
      @adelarsen9776 7 лет назад +1

      4xOverland Russians made good traktors with coil spring suspension too.
      Do you know how to double the price of a Lada Niva ? Fill the tank with petrol.
      We can all joke and play however the little Niva Lada got through some tough spots.
      And what of Russian trucks like Ural, Kamov and many others ?
      CZ Tatra and Russian Trucks set the bench mark for tough off road trucks.
      The Russians are our friends :-)
      Early Rangies were great and so the little Lada Niva was also capable.
      I'm not one-eyed. If I was I would just scream Landcruiser to everyone - of which I have 3.

      4xOverland in soviet union if you were a communist you could have a better job, and better connections, with connections came stealing, bribes, instead of giving 10lbs of sugar for a batch of cakes they gave 7lbs, then sold the 3lbs type of thing, this is why soviet union fell apart there was no control, so a lot of people who were stealing, could afford to buy a car, and finally there simply was nothing else to get, if you wanted an offroader there was only that option

    Happy birthday Andrew. Great video. I owned a 4.2 Range Rover Classic LSE. To this day it is the best car I ever had.

    I know and can relate to this feeling of joy. I had a Disco 1 which I lost. If I had an opportunity to drive it again, I would be giddy as a school girl.
