I was so confused when she was like ‘I’m lactose intolerant but love coffee’ like?? Okay how does being lactose free stop u from drinking coffee? Is it only an Australian thing where pretty much all cafes will have at least soy and almond milk alternatives?
I think she was just meaning that she would have to find an alternative, because she’ll have to change her normal, so either way it’ll be different even though there are alternatives
Yes allergic to milk and lactose intolerant is in fact different. But as far as alternatives, as a lactose intolerant person living in the middle of rural Arkansas (USA) a lot of place really don’t have alternatives and my only option at home as well is (other than taking the L and having milk) almond milk because that’s usually the only alternative that stores near me carry. (But if you can get your hands in it my opinion is that oat milk is best)
A lot of places DO have alternatives, but some companies hesitate to do so due to pricing and popularity. Hence why the company I work for make you pay 30 extra cents if you wanted almond milk instead in your iced coffee.
Also, from Australia and can confirm they have milk substitutes (almond & soy are the common ones). They have sugar alternatives too, I always get splenda with my coffee.
Always get barista if you’re making coffee with them! Milk alternatives like soya often curdle with the temp change if they’re not made for that purpose x

@Mike The Adventure Doggo wait that’s super smart and woahh is that tru;
I’m also allergic to milk they make really good dairy free creamers and I personally love using vanilla soy milk in my coffee!
me who drinks almond milk on a daily, yearly, because i’m lactose: 👁👄👁 “is it really not normal to drink something other than cow’s milk?”
I can have cow's milk and such, I just.. like almond milk. Idk, I guess it's weird for some reason?
I'm more suprised that they have never tried soy milk. I mean I get it abt the almond milk but come on… Soy milk tastes amazing
@@nadia5092 for real. I would rather drink that than cow's milk
@@sbdreamey Same tho. There's even a brand I always buy soy milk from that makes them for *baristas* meaning they can add it in any beverage that is suitable with dairy.
I’m lactose so I drink lactaid milk, it tastes even better then regular milk.
I’m a barista and based on my personal opinion the best alternative is OAT. I would Recommend Oatly oat milk as the alpro one is worse.
She loves coffee w milk -_-
Always get barista if you’re making coffee with them! Milk alternatives like soya often curdle with the temp change if they’re not made for that purpose x
What’s barista ?
@@bidmcms3 it’s just the name of a type of milk they sell which shows it’s for the use of making coffees etc. baristas make drinks in a coffee shop :) it’s a little creamier and doesn’t coagulate in the heat x

As a vegetarian with a vegan mom, you should definitely try the oatly, it's my favorite. I also drink normal cow's milk too, for example in school. But I prefer oatly.
Hello
I’m also a vegetarian with a vegan mom! I only drink cows milk though, but my mom also prefers the oat milk over any other plant based milk.

Same. No sugar, no milk. Plain black
I genuinely hate the taste of coffee with milk it drives me mad how people can like it
Some people like me who have really bad stomache ache/esophagitis after having pure black coffee likes to have it with milk, so that I can taste my coffee and still have the caffeine to keep my day going.
@@guilmesq6 maybe it d be a good idea to give it up for good if it hurts your tummy, just my oppinion
@@OzmaOfOzz Thank you 😉 I used to have a lot of really acute, bad, intense pain right after having coffee. It has to do with the fact that coffee is a natural acidic drink and might irritates the gastric wall, mainly of those who have it damaged with some sort of gastritis like me. I feel nothing when I have it poured into milk, so I can still enjoy it. But just in case if I get the pain coming back and forth ever again, I’ll stop it for good. ☕️

@@thejesteramongfools Everybody isn't lactose intolerant (unless you count no intolerance as a level of lactose intolerance).
There are certain genetic groups in the world, the 3 main ones I remember are Northern Europeans, North Indians, and some Nigerians, who have a developed a genetic mutation. The mutation allows them to produce lactase, the enzyme the breaks down lactose, even after childhood and digest lactose in milk with no issues, making them lactose tolerant (all children produce lactase to digest breast milk but most people stop producing it as they get older).
What’s the different
I’m intolerant and yeah I would assume there’s a difference between me having to lay down because I got nauseous eating any milk products and you having to call 911/999 because your throat closed up 😅
My mom was lactose and tolerant and my friend is a llergic. Definitely different. My mom was still able to have milk with a kind of medicine, while my friend whose allergic could possible die from trying that.
