They even have their Marine Biology unit study for free to download as a sample of their Science curriculum. My kids and I learned so much from it!) TGAB is more extensive than Gather Around, which to me is really barely scratching the surface. You should give it a try!

    Aghghhhhhh!!!!! You have SOOOO much science curriculum there, but I TOTALLY jive with you on these things! I have explored quite a bit and mostly just bought the books from various curriculum packs that my oldest son would just end up reading for fun! That being said, I love that you unapologetically know that you guys just love to nerd out and go deep on these topics instead of just settling for the surface-level that is covered! I have tried lots of "open and go" resources over the years and I always add to them and feel a little weird for that. Now I know there are others like me! We've gotta get that aquarium guide! That looks awesome! Taking Back Astronomy is BOMB! PS. Crunchy is a good thing!

    What about teaching the Geocentric model of the earth? We are definitely Bible Jesus believers and from the research we have done. We can find anything at all that teaching from an actual Biblical day of creation view of the egocentric earth model. Everything is all about Heliocentric Earth model which for us is ok to know what the scientists say a believe but not what we are looking for when it comes to biblical truths of the earth model. I'm not even sure if anyone understands because most people look so confused when I ask this. Thanks for your review!!

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  2 года назад +2

      So you want to find biblical science curriculum that teaches the geocentric model? Meaning the earth is the center of the universe. That’s going to be very hard to find. I don’t know of any but I would be very interested to see if you do find anything. Studying science from a biblical perspective is really about glorifying God, the Creator, which I am sure you do that. So maybe if you can’t find anything, you can skip those parts. Then if you feel strongly about the geocentric and heliocentric models, do a separate study. Look at debates, evidence, ect… from a biblical perspective. That’s what I would do, but let me know if you find anything.

    • @creeksidehomeschoolers
      @creeksidehomeschoolers 2 года назад +1

      @@LivingWithEve Yes, everything you have suggested is what we have been doing. My husband has found a few books written from the Geocentric model but when we went online to order them they are either sold out or unavailable or even cost a more than we can afford plus there are not exactly laid out like curriculum which is what I really want and need as a busy mom. I keep trying to tell my husband he needs to write one. He is especially knowledgeable and has throughly researched this topic; so we have heavy family discussion about it so often. But I'm a little type A and want a chronological beginning to end layout of information. Sometimes my kids bring it up to other kids at co-op and then those kids come to me thinking my kids are a little off on their thinking and then I have to do a bit of on the fly explaining which isn't my favorite as my husband is more the expert at explaining it all. Thanks for your open mind and understanding even what I was asking 🙂

    The Answers In Genesis curriculum you held up, do they no longer make? When I clicked on your link, the only Science curriculum I found was the same as what Masterbooks offers. I know you mentioned it is almost the same thing, but if I remember correctly, you also mentioned that the Answers In Genesis goes deeper than the God's Design that Masterbooks offers? It's very possible that I am wrong, I have been watching lots of videos on Science curriculum trying to decide what to do for my kids for next year (when the school year starts, they will be newly 9, 7 and 5).

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  Год назад +1

      It does look like AIG is now selling their Masterbooks version of God’s Design. I am learning more and more Ken Ham and Masterbooks have a close work relationship so I wouldn’t be surprise if they discontinued the older version. It really wasn’t much of a difference now that I’ve done more of their curriculum. MB, because of Ken Ham and their relationship to AIG is quit strong. It just really depends on what you want to do and if they have it. The only other option, in my opinion is Apologia.

    Needed this video! Thank you! So I was very much considering using apologia astronomy next year I’ll have 2 fifth graders, 2nd grade and kindergarten, do you think if I use the taking back astronomy book it will be enough for the fifth graders?
    My kids picked that for this year
    My seventh is going to do general science by himself

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  2 года назад +3

      Here’s what I would do. Do the Apologia with all of them and then add the Taking Back book for the 5th graders. Taking Back Astronomy is the kind of book you want to read out loud and discuss as you go through it. It’s really deep stuff, I mean he talks about how young earth creation is the only true model for the universe and give really good evidence. He explains proof of the roundness of the earth, magnet poles, galaxies, problem with starlight, solar system and star formation, recession of the moon, it just gives you a good foundation to understanding how the universe was creation. He wrote for MS / HS and for adults to appreciate. So it’s one you can pull out over and over again. We are on out second read. My 10 year is so into it and he’s understanding why secular science and the Big Bang model doesn’t work. I should do a more in-depth video to explain how we used this book. It’s not an astronomy curriculum but a supplement giving a biblical worldview of the universe.

      It always depends on their maturity, and I don’t know them personally, so it’s hard to give perfect advice. But I can share my experience. I was able to do Apologia Astronomy for a 5 year - kindergarten - easy. I tried teaching Apologia Astronomy to 5th graders once at the coop and it was way too easy. I had to add so much. So for a 6 year, probably perfect. The 4 year old, probably will enjoy the activities and pictures and if they like being read to.
