  • With the project coming along nicely it was inevitable that something was eventually going to go wrong. That curveball came in the form of a dislocated /fractured shoulder socket, and an incorrect paint mix causing mismatched panels.
As they say, "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." Tune in as i attempt to get the project back on track!
Big shout out to Mitch, Tighe and of course Iziah for helping me push through this struggle.

Dont let a little set back get you down. You are doing a amazing job and allthough redoing some work sucks, in the end it will all be worth it!
Thank you for letting us be part of your journey and I hope your shoulder will heal soon

All part of the process i guess! just makes the end product that much sweeter when you've gone through some setbacks with the build!
Thanks Erik, always appreciate your messages!

You are killing it with this rebuild…I’ve had 2 Range Rovers , Lwb county se, and short wheel base se…I’d love to have one that is strictly utilitarian without all of the bs that just breaks…the aluminum bodies and low center of gravity make these unbelievable driving cars…removing heavy glass will make it even better…can’t wait to see the progress and final product…

Thanks Ashley! they're bloody wicked cars!
They were made to be modified and used! shame many now are spending life pampered in the shed!. i intend on exploring all over the globe in mine over my lifetime!

Hat tip to you my friend…I will seek my adventure by sea…but if I were building a Range Rover , I might consider an old ford 300 straight six possibly with efi mostly for high altitude travel…these old motors have so much torque and are bullet proof…the manual tranny and rear end that was stock on 3/4 ton was too…
I see many guys putting big LS motors in these, and I don’t think it suits the car well in most cases…I’m sure you have a very good handle on powertrain , and
I can’t wait to see where you’re taking it buddy…you are spot on so far …cheers from south Louisiana USA!

Sorry, I now see you are rebuilding the 300tdi…great decision…these are not available in the u s …but a buddy of mine just shipped a defender 110 here with that engine…it was used in a documentary about over landing …awesome vehicle with little expense spared…but from what I’m watching you do, I think yours will give it a run for the money…
      All eyes watching!

Sad to hear about the paint. It's a shame - such a beautiful build.
At least you pushed on and followed your goal. Move on like that - it is worth it.

Gutted to see you look dejected on the paint issue! Bad luck to take that step backward, but impressive commitment going to those lengths to correct it the right way. Gary and Mitch are good m8s for sure! Epic RR you’re screwing together.

E/A. Struth-so lucky to have the mob in the top end to help you out since injury ! Did you follow your idea to re-build this 2dr Rangie and re-paint it in the Aussie factory 1982 'Commodore' metallic ? V.

What a double bummer! Looking good now though, good of the paint supplier to sort the materials. Sending positive vibes from the UK.

Looking back at it, definitely glad I went through with it. Would have frustrated me seeing the car finished with mismatched panels!
Frustrating to say the least, but credit to the paint shop, they met me half way and supplied all the material needed to carry out the job.

Sorry to see the injured shoulder, I feel your pain. Good decision on the paint. If you had of left it as is, it would have drove you to madness. Great work, love the channel.
