I was at Aberdeen during the early 60's while the A4's were having their swan song. 60034 was at the head of the train to Glasgow. I got talking to the driver of 60034 and as we were chatting he asked me would I like a footplate ride which I happily accepted. I never ever thought I would get an A4 footplate ride. At that particular time the A4's were getting lots of attention and things seemed more relaxed then. The A4 drivers were treated like royalty. The only item on my bucket was fulfilled that day. Thanks for sharing that video it brought back so many memories to a young at heart 78yr old

@@alrxanderwylie6512 After watching your video brought back one more great memory. Going round Haymarket shed 64B requiring 60031 Golden Plover to clear the class as we used to say. Disappointed 60031 not on shed. Making our way out of the shed we heard a chime whistle guess what 60031 went by on an express. I had now seen all the A4's. Happy Chappie.

had a soft spot for 60034 Lord Faringdon, I once 'cabbed' it at Kings Cross after it had arrived. My God it was hot in that cab! I did get to visit Ferryhill and saw Lord Faringdon again there. Thanks for the upload !

Great video alrx, just watching Lord Faringdon, when I was trainspotting back in the 1950s this was always a Kings Cross engine but by this time (middle 60s) it was moved to 61b Aberdeen Ferryhill which when looking at the video makes more sense, these old videos are the best and hopefully you will give us more.

Another good video Alrx, I was fortunate to see all the A4s in the late 50/60s
at either Edinburgh, Retford or Doncaster apart from 60019 Bittern which eluded me.
Although I have seen her lots of times since in preservation.

Managed to see all the A4s except William Whitelaw which seemed not to come down south.
