Hello friends, My official chord sheet & Tab for this lesson can be found in my First Repertoire Song Book available at: goo.gl/N8N2TQ. This ebook contains several beginner friendly tunes, with video tutorials linked throughout it's pages. Enjoy!
Hey guys, I'm like extremely extremely new at guitar. Like so new I can barely switch from one Chord to another. Any tips on what I should be doing and where I should start?
You are a gifted teacher young man. I'm 50 years young and new to the guitar. Your patience and attention to detail in your instruction is some of the best I've seen. Keep up the outstanding work and you bet I'll tune in to future videos!!
tman111195 Hey thanks so much, and congrats on the new hobby. Hearing from folks like you makes being on RUclips an amazing experience, so glad you are making progress with my videos. Much more on the way! -Rob
I don't know how much this will mean to you, man. As I am sure you hear this kind of thing all the time; but you just taught me my first song. I have been playing for justshy of a month and a minute ago, I was getting emotional. Playing something that sounds ... like music, just blew me away. Thank you for the well thought out break down and lesson. Now I can't stop playing the verses.
Vincent Giocastro Hey, it's a great honor to teach you your first song. This is just the start of many successes for you, now that you've "got the bug." Thanks so much for reaching out Vince!
look up open tuning ..open G..open D..open E ..open ex ex..using one finger power chords as you learn the shapes in that tuning... you'll sound great on day one 😊👍
Just finding this in 2020 and my fiancee wants to learn guitar. I'm a poor beginner guitarist at best but your video helped me teach her and created a whole new bond between us. Gifting people the love of music is truly magical. You my friend, are a wizard. Thank you for making it easy to learn.
BIG Thanks, yay I Did it. 50 yrs old and started learing at 13 and it just didnt take. Finally I have clicked. I was determined to keep at it this time round. I am sooo HAPPY.
Before I get to watch this tutorial, I had to watch an ad that "Watching RUclips Videos" to learn how to play the guitar" does not work. Sometimes irony can be so ironic.
Congrats MrAndimandi, just the beginning and only the first of many more successes, i'm sure. Put a little rubbing alcohol on those fingers and let it air dry. Best. -Rob
+swiftlessons it's awesome... so thanx dear because its very useful to beginners and how to play a nice song.. so i think we can get it from google.. i hope you will get it
I know this may sound stupid, but the whole reason I have trouble with playing the guitar is because I don't remember chords well. I always preferred bass or instruments with bows because they only usually play one note at a time. However, I inherited my father's guitar, and I want to learn it in memory of him. Let me just say that this is the most helpful video I've ever come across when it comes to learning a song. You do so well at it that even I, someone who hates using chords, understand it.
Actually you will not have to sharpen your memory if you have music in you. Muscle memory will come in time and the chords will make themselves. Just relax and practice and you will get the chords. Just my opinion.
53 years old.closet rock star trying to learn this awesome instrument. Your lessons are the best I've encountered. It's been a struggle but I AINT QUITTIN' Thanks for the help
This is a new comment.. I just started playing again after 25 years and I am hurting but I finally found a song to play that someone made easy... thanks so much... I like your channel brother
I am a beginner (about 10 months now, determined not to give up) needing a song to spice things up and motivate me. Great lesson! Other videos seem to rush through "oh you know C G D well you can play these songs"...and they don't give me all the info I need to learn the songs. I want words. I want to see when to play each cord in a simplified version. You inspired me today! Thanks so much.
When I saw this was a 13 minutes video I thought "oh no", and here I am 13 minutes later just to say THANK YOU, it worth every second!! You're an amazing teacher :D
This has helped me so much , I’ve been able to learn the full song in two weeks of practice as a beginner ......It’s a huge help , I’m also using your other song lessons also, thanks so much mate. Jezz from Australia.
Thank you! I played it for my dad, (he is a big Beatles fan) and when i was a little kid he always played and sang this for me! ❤️ He was so proud, and all because of you! Sorry for my English, I'm from Sweden!
i have just started to learn to play guitar and the 1st 2 songs i am learning is let it be and stand by me all taught by you, your lessons and instructions are so simple to follow, thank you
Hey that means a lot, so glad my teaching style is agreeing with you. Many more lessons are on the way both here and via Patreon.com/swiftlessons. Keep checking in! -Rob
Thank you, Rob! I really wanted to learn this song because my grandmother's name was Mary, so the lyric "Mother Mary comes to me" is really meaningful to me right now. I'm still working on that walk down! Thanks for the easy-to-follow lesson!
Hey, it's my pleasure Aileen. So glad playing this tune makes you feel closer to your grandmom. Many more beginner friendly tunes are in the works. Thanks and be well. -Rob
man you are awesome!!! i just picked for the first time in my life a guitar and thanks to you i just learned my first song! even though i know it's sooo easy for guitar players , i feel sooo happy and grateful ! thank you for sharing these emotions with others!
Suggestion/Tip for making better and quicker chord changes: After making a chord shape, hold that chord, and strum that chord at least 20 times, initially with down strums. After each strum, keep/hold that same chord shape and "Squeeze that Chord"(depress fingers onto the strings) with your finger tips, then "Release"(let the strings come off the frets but keep your finger tips in place while they rest on the strings): "Squeeze" "Release", "Squeeze" "Release", "Squeeze" "Release", etc at least 20 times. Your fingers will learn the "muscle memory" needed to make the shape all at once(not one finger at a time). Repeat this process until you can pick up your guitar, and instantly place your finger tips on the strings with the proper chord shape! Later after learning all your chords this way, you can use the "Squeeze" as a rhythm dynamic to add punch/pulse/drive/rhythm to your playing!! Let me know if this helps. Bob
thank you, i am starting to play guitar 2 weeks ago, this is the first song i can play properly thanks to you, and this is also one of my favorite song.. thanks
I couldn't sleep and just thought of looking for an easy song to play on guitar and just thought that "Let It Be" could be that. I'm glad that I wasn't wrong 🙏 You really made it easy, bro!!! Thanks a lot 🙏
I said it before but I will say it again. This Channel is my only one stop channel for guitar lessons. You are a brilliant teacher and mentor. Thank you.
Amazing tutorial! The phase and breakdown is easy to follow. And the lyrics with the chords as subtitle is genius. very helpful. I'm definitely subscribing to you 👍😎 thanks!
I Have not even begun to try to play this lesson. When I started the video I had to put my guitar down to just listen. You have a great voice, I really enjoyed just watching you play and sing. Thanks. Pam
Pamela Popielarski Hey thanks so much, thats really nice of you to say. Please let me know how your practice goes, I hope you are able to find success with my lessons. Many more are on the way. Be well. -Rob
@swiftlessons, at 7:43 you start explaining the strumming pattern of the verse. D.., D,D,U. Can you also explain how you play the strumming pattern of the refrain? Thats seems different to me. Anybody else that can help?
Awesome, pure awesome. Thanks a lot I'm new to playing guitar. Btw the skin from the tips of my fingers is falling off and they're numb, but i just love playing so much
Hey Paul, so glad you are digging this lesson. Blisters on your sore fingers are badges of honor, and a sign that you are putting in the time. Keep working toward your technique, great things will happen. Thanks for checking in. -Rob
I'm at the very beginning of my guitar-play, but man - this song and the way you teach it is simply great! Thanks a lot! Really keeps me playing. Just need to improve my switch from one chord to the other :-) Keep up the good work!
i literally screamed "he is the best".. thanks for your great work.. i just started learning not even a week yet and you made me play a song by myself...thanks a lot...
K i’ve been blind 37 years play guitar off and on with just a shortlist of your instruction here I picked up the whole song. I gotta remember the lyrics lol thank you😊😮
I certainly can't speak for all beginners out there, but I find the instructional format used in this video tutorial (with the chords and lyrics shown as you play) to be the most helpful. Its really difficult to hit chords, keep a strumming pattern, AND sing all at the same time - at least for us beginners. I play this video over and over and try to keep time with you. I mess up often, but I just keep going/trying to keep pace with you and have improved tremendously because of it! I say this to say you hit gold with this particular instructional technique, so please keep doing it :)
Also, thank you for taking the time to include an explanation of chord progressions/scales. I started learning by practicing scales..and it was boring and didn't make a lot of sense at the time. Then, in my boredom, I attempted to learn a few songs, but I didn't immediately make the connection with the songs I learned to the scales I had been practicing. You really helped me make that connection, and now I'm actually motivated to keep practicing/learning my scales. You have achieved the impossible lol. Thank you!
Hey thanks, that means a lot. I'm so glad to be helping you reach your goals Kevin! Many more lessons are on the way, and if you need additional resources and lessons, visit my patreon.com/swiftlessons page. Be well and enjoy your progress!
The best tutorials on youtube .... This song and the stand by me are the only two songs i know untill now all thanks to you ... All the other youtubers go too fast and dont guide u enough. Keep it up And thank you so much
When I first saw this video I was really overwhelmed with with the walk on sections. They looked pretty complicated and there was no instructions on how to get by them. Then I finished the video and after two more times I was actually playing along without any significant errors. Now I've got a new song under my belt. Thanks for the lesson! Perfect way to spend 13 minutes.
Hey Tyrone Wells, thats great, thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm glad my lesson has helped you along. In the early going, building a repertoire is crucial. Good luck moving forward, I hope that my work will continue to serve as a useful resource. Thanks. -Rob
Hello... it’s very good lesson for me to more improved my guitar skill, and you lesson very much easy to learn and you are very smart too to put you camera so closely with you finger and you guitar, so we can see closely as well exactly where is the fingers need to press it 👍👏👏👏 The lyrics you put on the screen it’s very helpful too, and we can singing together and enjoyed with the song. Overall I am so happy to find you RUclips channel and I am you new subscribe 😊 Really appreciate with you passionate to teach how to play the guitar. Have a great time Can’t wait for another song 🙏😉
Thanks so much. Actually I'm a beginner and started learning guitar all by myself two months ago. This song is my first choice to learn. I appreciate a lot the way you taught, though at the very beginning I had a lot of difficulty to follow you. Now, I can play it though not perfectly yet. Anyway, I owe you a thank you. Greetings from France.
Wow, that's the best short tutorial I have seen. I like the way you show the diagram of which chords/notes to pick. Sometimes that can be hard to pick up on. I think you have done a very good job of putting everything together.
It's hard to express how helpful this lesson format is for me. I wish I had sang along as I play from the first time I learned to strum a chord or three. Thanks.
Love your teaching style! I played very poorly for years and never tried anything like the walk downs but you made it SO easy and I feel so pleased. Thank you!!!! ☺️♥️🙏🏻🎶
I don't usually write comments but man, your tutorial on this song is so easy and helpful. I just got a guitar and was kind of getting frustrated with it but thanks man this helps me a lot. I'm not giving up!
Rob you are an awesome teacher!! Keeping with The Beatles theme - could you do a tutorial of Don't Let Me Down. Seen this Capo on 2nd Fret - Playing primarily D, Em, and A with lots of embellishments and would like to learn this one 😊! Thanks for all your tutorials they have helped me bunches!
I am subscribed to almost all the guitar lesson channels in youtube but yours one is definitely one of the very best. This easy songs increase my confidence and thirst for learning guitar. Thank you. :-)
The reverb he uses really helps too, not slating him or this video its awesome but I agree with Yordle.... BUT opinion isn't right or wrong so respect Papriks opinion :)
This was a great lesson. The theory behind the playing and song was explained in understanable terms. The song tutorial was slow and uncomplicated. It was great. Thank you
I LOVE how you put the words under the chords. I have always struggled with when to sing and what cord to play so keep that up! Thanks so much it helped a lot!
Thanks Rob! New to guitar...about three weeks in but thanks to you I can already play three songs. FAIRLY well but i have goals now....and after about a week and a half fingers become a non issue,,,Thanks again!
Rob I have to say that you are the absolute best guitar teacher I have had the pleasure of learning from. Quite often so called teachers will tell you to play one thing but play a different version. It is almost like they are showing off. martyzsongs ( Great player shit teacher) is synonymous for this. It makes it impossible to understand how the song is supposed to sound. You on the other hand are very focused, only play what you are teaching, and have a way of progressing through a lesson that is quite frankly perfect. If you don't teach in a classroom setting or one on one. I beg you to please do so you have a gift my friend and I am so thankful to you for taking the time to share it. God Bless you Roband THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying to learn guitar for years....the furthest I've gotten was learning the most used chords from a book... As far as video instructions go, I watched this video and was immediately able to play the first progression. Perhaps I could also pay attention more because of his good looks 😁 Great teacher!
Thanks for playing in a key We can sing with. Anyone can easily capo at 5 if they want to play with the recording. You are a gifted teacher and put in the time to make it work. THANKS.
Perfect lesson. I've been trying to learn this song using the Chord Buddy song book but watching you has allowed me to learn it more effectively. I'm also learning the middle guitar solo section, which is hard but fun.
David Rinden Very nice, glad you are making progress and that this video was helpful. Tons of new stuff is on the way, let me know if you have any request. -Rob
Hey. Thank You. As a beginner this was very helpful in the way you presented it. I slowed the video to get the walkdown and extends. I'll start out on the cords, then double strum, then full strum and the extended stuff. Getting to the point where I understand this, but not yet where the fingers and mind can do it all yet.
simply the best!!!! Thankyou!! i'm total beginner and for st Valentin I manage to play and sing for my hasbend "Stand by me" that was cool!!! Thakyou alot!

Suggestion/Tip for making better and quicker chord changes:
After making a chord shape, hold that chord, and strum that chord at least 20 times, initially with down strums.
After each strum, keep/hold that same chord shape and "Squeeze that Chord"(depress fingers onto the strings) with your finger tips,
then "Release"(let the strings come off the frets but keep your finger tips in place while they rest on the strings):
"Squeeze" "Release", "Squeeze" "Release", "Squeeze" "Release", etc at least 20 times.
Your fingers will learn the "muscle memory" needed to make the shape all at once(not one finger at a time).
Repeat this process until you can pick up your guitar, and instantly place your finger tips on the strings
with the proper chord shape!
Later after learning all your chords this way, you can use the "Squeeze" as a rhythm dynamic to add punch/pulse/drive/rhythm to your playing!!
Let me know if this helps. Bob

Mary being Paul’s mother who died of cancer when Paul was 14.
I love this guitar lesson RUclipsr, he helps keeps things simple for beginners and is one of few that actually does singing along with the tutorial
Congrats On 1 Million Views Love You Rob😁
Thank you so much Denzil! I actually just realized that this video is about to cross that threshold, thanks for the heads up!
This lesson has been the best lesson ever in my life. Thank you
i love the way you make your videos you demonstrate the songs perfectly thank you!!!
Thank you! I think it's the first time I'm able to play a full song on a guitar :) And it's quite nostalgic for me too!
Quarantine Lesson .👍
Wow, that's the best short tutorial I have seen. I like the way you show the diagram of which chords/notes to pick. Sometimes that can be hard to pick up on. I think you have done a very good job of putting everything together.
dude... how about 'wonderful tonight- eric clapton' ?
+James Wong Chin Chean Great suggestion!

Very helpful thank you
My pleasure, thanks for watching Pete!
This song is SO much fun to play. Been working on it for three months now as my first actual guitar song. This video really helped. Thanks.

Definitely an influence of mine. Thanks for the kind message Oriely!
Thank you. :-)

The format of the video is appropriate to learn at speed. Thanks and keep the hard work
Did not fucking expect the vocals. Like what the fuck. You sound better than the original.
wowowo im gonna stop u right there budd, he's good, but not in a million days better that Paul Nor john so...
Matthew G Congrats on the speedy success! So glad my videos have been helpful. I'm just getting started, so keep checking back! -Rob
Perhaps I could also pay attention more because of his good looks 😁
Great teacher!
Aw thats secretspeaking, so glad you are finding some success with my videos. Let me know if you have any request for future videos. Take care. -Rob
You got the best videos for begginers! Rock n Roll from Russia !!
Thanks for playing in a key We can sing with. Anyone can easily capo at 5 if they want to play with the recording. You are a gifted teacher and put in the time to make it work. THANKS.
what a vote for. the song has a lot of meaning for me .. you made it that I starded to cry..
Easily the best teacher on youtube! well done mate
That means a lot corey McAllen, glad you are digging my lessons. Much more to come!
