    Two comments: (1) i watched a couple videos when this was first happening and the chat comments were shocking in that many said things something like it was a good thing because it was happening to “rich” homeowners which leads me to think that our society is really, really sick; and (2) when you see the number of trees and bushes closely surrounding many of these burning buildings you should not be shocked when insurance companies want to cancel fire policies. Please create a buffer zone around your home.

      I too am shocked and sickened by such comments. Many, if not the majority, of California homeowners, are hardworking people who scrimped and saved to achieve ownership. Just look at the traffic every day. These are people s urrying to and from work. Not “rich entitled” people. Just providing for families, and a roof over their heads.

    Notice how the reporter blames the fire on heat and dry conditions. But if you look at the videos, you can see that these homes are surrounded by flammable trees. If you don't cut fire breaks around these homes, the homes will burn if the forest catches fire.

    I lived in the L.A. area for many years. The pattern never changes: Winter time rain leads to the grass growing on the hills, and then it turns into 3' tall dried brush which burns in the summer. Especially when the Santa Ana winds start blowing. If you don't clear it out you are taking a huge risk.

  • @dennykleen7600
    @dennykleen7600 Месяц назад +7

    I don’t understand why they don’t do brush clearance. They have these multimillion dollar homes and they don’t put in a pool so that they have water to pump and do the brush clearance. Yes, trees are nice. I spend a lot of my time about my place up in Oregon, but you remove things close to a home that’ll give you that clearance. 2020 hindsight doesn’t help. I feel devastated for these people, but they should’ve done clearance. There’s so many trees and so much brush around. I understand we all have these lush trees, but that’s the tender that goes up when the fire starts.

    • @gregbendero
      @gregbendero Месяц назад +3

      I agree, also I have seen houses in fire zones install sprinkler systems that spray their homes with water + fire retardant foam when flames get close. May have been worth installing those over losing your home.

    • @ji-inroh495
      @ji-inroh495 Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, you could've just spent a grand or two to remove trees and tinder.

    • @ZTFab1
      @ZTFab1 Месяц назад +4

      Those aren't multi-million dollar homes, in fact, that house was sub $500k. This area is just above a very depressed part of San Bernardino that has a major homeless and drug epidemic and the State, County, and City all turn a blind eye to it. This hill has multiple fires every year, set by the homeless. There are many empty parcels (right near these homes) that are owned by the city that I'm sure they don't clear since they had to file bankruptcy a few years ago. These poor people lost their home, pets, and just about everything else they own and will be fighting with the insurance companies for years to get a portion of it back, if they're lucky.

    • @rl332
      @rl332 Месяц назад +4

      These are not multi-million dollar homes more like 600-700k. They look nice and look expensive but these homes are out far east where homes are cheaper. These people are middleclass and were looking for a better place for the buck and found this area. They cannot afford to clear a whole mountainside do you know how many acres and costly that is?? ... Stop blaming them.

    • @ji-inroh495
      @ji-inroh495 Месяц назад +1
