Taeyong adding NEW MOVES to choreographies

- On many occasions - especially in the past few months - Taeyong has been changing parts of the choreo during performances. He either changes the dance moves to new ones or adds extra elements to the choreography. Whether it be a high kick during Kick It, or a sexy spin during Make A Wish, Taeyong always makes sure to add some personal flair and uniqueness to his performances with NCT and SuperM.
I actually planned this video back when I first saw Taeyong change the Simon Says choreography to include EXO’s Love Shot point move, as I thought to myself: “I bet he in the future will keep making little changes to spice up the choreos or challenge his dancing skills if the choreographies are a little too simple for him”. And it looks like I was right, especially here in 2020 with his promotions with NCT 127 and NCT U, he has changed the choreography a lot either during promotions or at the year end shows.

And, unrelated but, I also want to add that even though lisa is a good dancer she just follows the choreography(it's still very impressive) but you can tell she is not on this level yet and there is a lot more she can learn. This video really highlights the difference between a good dancer and a great performer like Taeyong or Ten for example.

Taeyong is dearly missed on NCT 127 and NCT stages. While NCT's dance line are really, really good, Taeyong is NCT's artistic pillar. The persona, the theatrics, the drama he brings to the stage makes the performance so much more enjoyable.

He has passed the level of being an idol, He is an Artist. He not just memorize lyrics but embodies the meaning of the entire song in every performance that's why the impact is more powerful and unforgettable. He brings the lyrics to life! Taeyong is chosen to lead NCT because he has the X factor, something that is innate in him only and cannot be copied. Since his temporary hiatus started, we can clearly see that the members all did great in filling his parts in the recent performances and kudos to them really. But truth be told, in all the member's greatness put together, no one does it like Taeyong and we know it.

You know it’s alway amuses me when people write comments like these no offense. Idol/artist are the same thing kpop just uses a different term. Most GREAT performers do things like these it makes them stand out and attracts more attention to the group. Taeyong is definitely a great performer but you have to remember he’s always at the front between him and mark 60% of 127 songs they rap and are the center so they/he has room and freedom to express himself. Not taking any credit from him because I can’t his talent is massive but me I personally whenever I’m watching a group I watch all of them separately that’s why I pick up on things that the average watcher that’s only focuses on the center wouldn’t notice (watching different performances of the same song to see how good they are ,they might have off days so doing this I see how they really deliver- dance practice,award shows, music shows, studio choom and fancams I don’t watch one thing and make my judgements from that ). Members like Yuta Haechan Jeno and Ten alway has extra spice to their movements but they aren’t highlighted as much, Ten is an exception but still
This video isn't just bringing light to his creativity; the sheer ease of him incorporating new movements, sometimes spontaneous, into choreo routines means his skill as a dancer is top-tier to a point where he has plenty of extra space to add something new in his performances. While others may struggle just keeping up with the choreo, taeyong is 10 steps ahead coming up with new changes to upgrade his performance. This is why his progress keeps us on our toes, I look forward to his future as a performer and artist so much!
Not only in his dance he does the same in his raps too. He adds a different flavour of his own and it makes his rap so easily differentiable. It's the same for all songs he has his own style for it. I really think we don't talk about his rap that much. let's normalize appreciating this boy for his talents.

He always adds new movements too choreographies to make the performance impactful. Everybody does it bit lee taeyong takes it to another level. He is just so different . His movements that he adds are all very unique .

There are and will be lot's of great dancers in the kpop industry, but performers who can eat up the whole stage alone are very rare. Taeyong is a very rare jewel and I hope SM takes more care of him in the future

Taeyong was and is terrifying idol. He is an odd combination of stylist mad man with choco bar in his hand. The way he experimented and executed his moves, a flavor either for pleasing audience or for his own pleasure, was not typical idol moves. It is dancer/performer job! Does he really started at 18? I reckon his flexibility and breathing methods were good. His overall bone and body structure were given him benefit for sharp moves to stand out. I couldn't imagine how hard his trainee days for made achievement these far. It's crazy.
I can't explain how amazed and in love I am with Taeyong rn.

In addition to expressing himself creatively, Taeyong's facility to make spontaneous choreo modifications is WHY he has been ABLE to perform so reliably for so long EVEN when he's tired or injured. We saw that in the MakeAWish choreo. Dance reactors admit Those MAW neck isolations are hard on even THEIR necks yet Taeyong found new ways to move his body that are just as exciting to watch but less taxing to execute. Some of those more "careful" performances were among his most appealing
the amazing thing is that even with him changing moves, he looks so natural doing it. it just shows that most of the moves weren't planned ahead. he does all of these moves spontaneously, and even then, he manages to not make it look out of place or lose his way with the beat. instead, he spices up the performances and make people eager to see what he has to bring in the future. so in addition to his musical talent, dancing accuracy, amazing visuals and over the top rapping, taeyong is a natural performer on a level like no other. when people say sm hit the jackpot with taeyong, they aren't exaggerating in any way. i'd like to say that taeyong is the pillar of nct, now and forever.

I'm honestly running out of superlatives to describe him so i'm just gonna use "Taeyong" to refer to something/someone that/who is creative, dynamic, best, top-tier, consummate, exciting. He is all these and much more. Taeyong is already a class of his own. As much as there is a "Taemin" or "Kai" kind of dancing. Then there is definitely a "Taeyong" style/level..
Taeyong is not only talented, he is hard wording to explore how to perform a better and better stage to audiences.

Okay, guys, I came up with a "metaphor" of sorts and now want to use it everywhere: nct is a cake and Taeyong is both it's foundation (him being a pillar of the group) and cherry on top (always spicing things up, adding to performance special flavour). The way he always adds something special in already good performance elevating it onto top-tier levels is just amazing. He has a natural grasp on this I swear. Would it be dance performance or music producing&recording, Taeyong just knows how to pull on audience heartstrings and make whatever it is work better, be more memorable, create something special. i’m a singer, not a dancer, but changing up even little things like this during a performance takes so much effort, planning, and improvisational skill. it’s insane how someone could fit improv into a group dynamic and still keep the performance looking neat and not like one member is trying to outshine anybody else.

I have seen many kpop performers that change things up in their choreo but nobody as much as TY and as consistently (some of this does have to do with how NCT choreos are structured; their style does lend itself to individuality and variation. And he alters things because he has the freedom to do so when he is in the centre position which is often). This is someone who loves to PERFORM and the joy of that is evident in all that he does. It shows in the vocal variation he gives to his rap and singing, to the ways he is always playing with movement, to his desire to sketch on things. It's playful and joyful and truly his own mark as an artist.
I especially enjoyed watching one of the behind the recording videos they've released lately where he is talking to Sungchan about a rap part. He says that even in the recording studio, imagine you are on stage. What kind of impression do you want to give? Use the same gestures and energy while you are recording. So wise and so perfectly TY
