It doesn’t rev out because it doesn’t have an mx pipe on it. It’s allowing zero scavenging which is what a 2t relies on for optimal performance. That little bike will blow ur mind once u find the model pipe that belongs on it. That could be an awesome bike!!

An expansion chamber not only scavenges the exhaust, it's also designed to time the pressure waves that keep the new fuel/air mixture from flowing out of the exhaust port. Some escapes anyway, Much more is escaping with that straight pipe. Not too restrictive. Take a look at the stinger at the end of a stock bike's exhaust baffle, the diameter of it's opening is much smaller than the pipe that you have on that bike.

Brings back memories. Used to have a 1980 CR80. Bought it for 300$ in 1982 as a basket case. Had a bad shift fork, cracked side cover and the piston was cracked. Had some good times on that thing. Would ride the right away under the power lines down to the gravel pit. My cloths were so stained from the clay it never came clean. Funny how we could get around without using the roads.

2 stroke exhaust pipes have an expansion chamber (the big bulge in the pipe) that goes down to a small diameter pipe allowing proper back pressure and producing more power for the 2 stroke engine. This guy showed me basically how to fix my 1972 Honda c70 just watching him repeatedly fixing carbs and doing throttle cables and other basic maintenance I felt confident enough to fix it myself I just put a coil pack in cause the old spark plug wire and the internals got cut up by a person who I previously paid to fix it and got f#ked over. Traded a new iphone and 300$ cash to fix it and it got dropped off at my house in shambles. It's my grandparents moped from my mom and my uncle's childhood and they gave it to me to fix it was sitting in their basement for well over 25 years. I'm just glad to see it running and driving now and so are my grandparents I wanted to get it done before they go...

They had piggyback shocks. Also I remember that they had a chromoly cylinder. Had to replate them. No boring out. I saw 1 on Craigslist for $3000. I'm sure it will be costly to restore but worth it IMO. Parts are still around. We had 1 come through our shop and mostly complete. I wanted to fix it up but the boss parted it out. Those are not the stock Showa shocks. Those are Fox with dual spring rates, and are longer for larger travel. The Showas were piggyback and shorter. It looks like the fork has been lengthened with a Terry kit? If you ever pull the cylinder and find it ported and polished...it may be my old bike ;-))

That is the exact model of my twin friends, they each got one for Christmas. But my Honda XR-75 was much faster than theirs. They never could beat me. Even years later. But mine was used by my friend who used it to race. I am sure it was modified. My carb was upgraded. And possibly bored. Not exactly sure. But one of them wanted my bike. I let him ride mine, and I sure found how slow his was. He desperately wanted to trade. That engine was just like mine, on my XR-75. I wish I knew what mods was done to my bike. I know he did not change the engine. He upgraded to a bigger bike, and he sold me his XR bike.

Give yourself a pat on the back. Most people would look at that and throw it in the dumpster. You got it running and driving. 🤘
