this is such an awesome enclosure! I wish I was good at measuring and cutting cause I would love to build something fun for my guinea pigs and ferrets! I 100% agree with you on the spending money on your animals. I will spend a fortune on them and just buy myself thrifted goods or cheap things because I "hate spending money". But if its something for the animals that costs a lot my excuse is its cute they need it. Lol
you could probably litter box train them and then all you have to clean is the boxes instead of the whole thing :D its a really nice enclosure and it looks so magical
Yay! I know everyone has a "favorite" animal or two of mine and it's so hard to post about all of them on a regular basis, so thanks for being patient :P
Wow amazing enclosure !! Btw u have a handsome helper , not flirting or being Disrespectful, just a compliment !! Ur an awesome pet mom!! Love ur channel!! 💜💜💜 o forgot to say I love ur rabbits 🐰🐰🐰💜
I agree :) Got pretty lucky to find someone so willing to help spoil my animals! I had to talk him out of also building them a waterfall fountain (“it might help them relax!”). Lol.
Love your "cage" ideas so much! All of them are so creative and beautiful! Hope someday I can build something like that for my animal's. Greetings from Germany :)
Oh it looks so good! But I do have some questions.. the pee, won't it stick to the mat and stain it? Or start to smell after awhile? And how do you clean the tunnels?😇 I'm just curious! Great work 💪🏻
I’m looking for inspiration for Giant Country at Angelica’s Rainbow Sanctuary for our giant rescue rabbits to live as naturally and safely as possible. I’ve found my inspiration right here. Great job
I know someone already touched on this problem and I don't want to be that person. But, RHDV2 disease can not only be given to your rabbits from wild rabbits but also from insects that come into contact with a infected wild rabbit. I would look into possibly getting them vaccinated, other than that I love the set up!
I’m totally open to vaccinating and talked with my vet about it. I think it’s certainly important for all rabbit owners to inform themselves and be prepared, but that goes for indoor and outdoor, as you said, it’s easily transmitted in a number of ways. So far there’s no reported cases around so he’s not pushing the vaccine at the moment, but will give it during the regular farm visits!
Would grass not have been a better choice? Or are you worried about fleas? Are fleas probably still an issue with the turf that they might ingest and get sick? (Genuinely asking...I don't have rabbits)
It always needs a pretty thorough Spring cleanup with a power washer spray down. The rest of the year it's easily maintained with just a vacuum! I'm still loving the whole idea! All long haired rabbits, none are litter trained, and a quick 30 minute cleaning leaves it beautiful and odor free!
Pretty cute but my question is are your rabbits litter box trained? If they are not litter box trained the flooring is gonna quickly become a poopy, pissy, smelly, nasty disaster. Otherwise a great idea with potty trained rabbits.
Hi Paula. They are not litter box trained. I rescued them as adults that had known nothing but life in a cage. The artificial turf allows the urine to flow through. I put a layer of sand under that so it filters way very quickly. I hose it down when needed. For the feces I use a shop vac and a broom. It works great and gets up not only the feces but the hair also. The feces the goes on the garden. Rabbit droppings are a fantastic fertilizer.
They’re several year old rabbits. In my 30 years of owning rabbits I’ve not had great success in training feral adult rabbits to consistently use a litter box. Their angora hair also makes it really messy.
It’s not rude, I’m just realizing I should probably have first released a video about the rabbits, their back stories, etc.. before this series :p Would help experienced rabbit owners understand.
Sorry. That is out of my control but it is also how I make a small about of revenue from YT which goes toward helping care for the animals. But only if you watch them.
Such a shame it started off so well. Then you took out all the natural foliage and replaced it with man made fibres. Aesthetically pleasing to you. Not a natural environment for your rabbits.
I really love your channel but please don’t House your bunnies outside they are domesticated. they are from Europe and have been domesticated. there’s just so much likelihood for predators and for them to overheat/Freeze to death. and it will be harder for you to bond with your bunnies if they’re outside. also it’s not big enough so if they were to live in a expen in that space they should have free time free time. ( this is all indoor scenario) and also the Rabbit Disease is spreading. Sorry I don’t mean to be rude
These rabbits were adults when I obtained them. They have never been socialized and never been indoors. Because I run a non profit animal rescue most of the rabbits I take in are exactly like this. I don’t force them to go through the stress of learning to like humans and interacting. That’s not my goal. I want to accept them as they are, with whatever tragic stories made them who they are, and let them decide if we will ever be friends or not. This is an extremely predator proof cage, that was a huge consideration in constructing in. It’s sturdier than my house at this point! There’s also a thermometer, a sun shade that can be put up and taken down as needed, I have motion activated lights and cameras. Their safety is a top priority...but so is their happiness and their transformation since they’ve been in this HUGE, 16 foot by 12 foot & 7 foot tall (larger than an average room in a house) enclosure - from the small wire breeding cages I adopted them from - is remarkable.
Adri Rachelle I really do feel bad because you made this amazing set up but could you possible insulate it make it like a small house or give them a room or half, I now the first ones really expensive. I’m sorry. I work more with reptiles but you could try taming them down I’m sure there’s some great bunny forums for taming them down and litter training I’m sorry I really don’t mean to be rude. I do really love your channel
I don’t intend to MAKE them like me. That serves me, not them. I want them to be happy, thrive, and be healthy. Rabbits don’t need a relationship with a human for that, especially if they’ve never had one. The cages they’ve lived in for years were a few square feet at best. All wire. Zero human affection. Always outdoors. Thankfully in Georgia the weather is moderate - there will be heat sources and insulting roll downs come winter, and there have been sunshades, frozen water bottles and fans in the heat. I’ve had incredible house bunnies before. They were litter trained, they knew my other pets, the adored me...I’m aiming to give a happy home to animals that are being discarded from angora wool breeding programs that aren’t reputable. I want them to live out their days knowing freedom and behaving as rabbits.
It's important to recognize that 'domesticated' and 'tamed' are not the same thing. The domestication of most species revolves around making them more productive. While a side effect of this process is that the animals may become more docile this does not mean that they enjoy human presence more, only that they are less aggressive and more tolerant. In the case of prey species, their instinctual fear of humans is still very much present, so forcing them to enjoy human interactions is still very stressful for them. You are totally right though, monitoring their health and ensuring good temperature control is very important. You're obviously very passionate about your animals and that's awesome! But animals are much hardier than we often give them credit for and Georgia is a pretty optimal state climate wise for most species. It's definitely something to pay attention to but it sounds like she's taken that into consideration pretty thoroughly. Spending time in sunlight and fresh air is SO important for all animals and I think because we love them so much we can forget that keeping them inside with us all the time is not necessarily the healthiest option for them. I think especially for a rescue setup this is pretty ideal :)
This is the best bunny house ever!! I love your Shire theme! I can’t wait to own rabbits one day.
It’s affectionately called “Hoppiton” :D
Beautiful cage, so much space for your adorable rabbits, im sure they love it! 😊

Future projects... :)

❤ Thank you!!
Where did you get the panells? I and my dad are planning on building one for our bunnies soon!
How has the flooring faired for you in the long run?

Is there wire below the sand?
nice.
Thanks!
Omg can I live there? 😂
Haha! It’s probably better built than my house 😂
Goals

Where do they pee?
Any where they want. LOL It soaks thru the artificial ground cover. I vacuum up the pellets and hose down the turf when it needs it.
love the vids (also 2 comment)
Thank you!!

Adri Rachelle Sadley I still disagree
So many adds...
