Oh my goodness your description of curling up with a chunky book and a blanket has me going crazy ! I want to leave work right now and do just that! Great books! Thx for the recommendations.
Autumn is a time when I crave genres that I rarely read, such as horror, fantasy, etc. I requested so many of these books from the library! Thank you so so much for all the recs!
Interview with the Vampire! Ms Anne Rice is literally the Queen of vampire romance, way before the hype of Twilight. Her writings is so atmospheric. I read it when I was 14 years old, I didn't quite understand everything that I read, but the feels stuck with me even until now in my 30s.
Todd here. Nice video Tori! I ordered The Blighted Stars By O'Keefe from my local bookstore. I love the artwork on the cover. Hopefully I will enjoy the plot.
I read Pines (book 1) because of Your recommendation and I loved it! So much fun. I also did not guess what the mystery was and the reveal was satisfying. I can’t wait to read book 2 and 3. 😀
Wanderers and Wayward too but especially Wanderers is an allllll time favorite book of mine. I picked it up on a whim when it came out, I didn’t get to it till spring 2020 (lol) and I just fell in love. I don’t see many people talk about it on here so thank you thank you for telling us to read Wanderers. Anyone reading this comment I second that whole heartedly. It is such a treat to read. Wendig’s character work is 🤌. I’ve read Wanderers twice and Wayward only once but every time I even think of Wanderers it’s just like coming home. Such a great story!
Just starting the Throne of Glass series...so excited!!! Will continue with the Tyranny of Kings and still reading Iron Gold series from Red Rising. Lots to read!!! 🤣
I'm so glad I found your channel! Sci fi is my favorite genre but it can be hard to find good books that fit my preferences. Your video is so informative and gives me a great idea if I'd end up liking it.
RE: Frankenstein - I am the same as you. Never read it until just a few weeks ago! I was going through my Kindle and found it in one of those collections you get for cheap. I was between books so I figured I'd give it a try. Didn't have high hopes, especially when I saw that it began with a letter. That style is usually not for me. But I kept going. I ended up loving it! I found an audiobook online and am about 2 hours from finishing that. I don't usually like audiobooks. But, again, I am loving this one. Then I bought a hardcover copy and might even read it again. I always feel like ebooks don't stay in my head very well. I want this to do so because the language was beautiful. It was way more deep and moving than I expected it to be.
@@ToriMorrow It’s a surprising read - definitely a slow burn in all things. I really want to reread the books that are out now. I think I originally gave them 4-4.5 stars, but I have a sneaking suspicion they’d get 5 stars. I don’t think there’s been news about book 3 so I’ll probably wait until then.
Thanks for the recommendations! You've never steered me wrong :) I've picked up a few books that you've talked about in your videos and I've enjoyed all of them!
Always great to hear your thoughtful recs (except that it grows my TBR....but anyway). I was especially intrigued by The Helm of Midnight. I had not heard of it. Thanks.
omg both justice of kings and helm of midnight are on my tbr for this month! You've gotten me so excited. I've also have wayward pines as a must read, but I may have to get to it next year
omg I just read Night Film in November and it's one of the best books I have ever read. Almost 600 pgs but I flew through it in 4 days and still didn't want it to be over. I would love to check out the bonus digital content in the back once I have enough room on my phone for the app.
I've been meaning to get to Amari, so I really should try to do that soon! Top on my list of books I want to get to this fall is The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman, the 4th book in the cozy mystery Thursday Murder Club series.
omg I had come across Night Film earlier this year and added it to my TBR…. Was intimidated to start it because I thought it might be too dense. Moving it up!
Nooo just jump right in! Pessl is juggling a lot in the story, but she writes it in a way that’s not overwhelming to follow. I really hope you love it!
@@ToriMorrow did you finish it and are you planning on reading book 2 which just came out? The book started a bit slow for me but really picked up the last half...it got me hooked!
Awesome video and great recs thank you Tori. You've sold me on Helm of Midnight and Scourge Between Stars so those are going to the top of my list for October. You know I'm with you on Wayward Pines and Greenbone saga! I just finished Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky - it was excellent, highly recommend. Enjoy your fall reading 😊
Ok so I really really want to follow your recommendation for The Green Bone Saga because I really trust your recommendation....but I need a question answered first 😅. I've tried starting the first book twice but the fatphobia stopped me short both times 😭. That is very hard for me to read. Does that ease up after a while or is it through the whole story? I just bought Frankenstein based on your recommendation last year!!
This is a perspective I haven’t heard before! Admittedly, this is something that didn’t stick out to me throughout the series, so it didn’t impact my reading experience. I don’t think I’m the right person to say if it gets better or not ☹️ I’m glad you picked up Frankenstein, though! I hope that’s a better read for you
@@ToriMorrow thank you for answering; no worries on not remembering. Maybe 3rd time will be the charm for Jade City for me 😂. I really really want to enjoy it after your recommendation!!
@@ToriMorrow okay so I was avoiding Goodreads reviews to answer my fatphobia question because I didn't want spoilers. But I was able to find a review just now that said the fatphobia stops after the 1st 100 pages. So I will definitely be reading this book 😍
"I'm on my knees now. I'm begging you..." - 😄 You convinced me 😅
Yes!! I hope you like it lol
Oh my goodness your description of curling up with a chunky book and a blanket has me going crazy ! I want to leave work right now and do just that! Great books! Thx for the recommendations.
I live the green bone saga, it is my favorite trilogy too!
It was the fifth season by N K Jemisin, but this series is just perfection ❤
I'll be reading Jade War soon and can't wait for Amari book 3(April 2024)! Also, you've convinced me to read Blake Crouch😂
His books are so good! I hope you have a good time ☺️

Thanks, Tori! Using your recommendations for a YA Literature class I'm currently taking.
That’s so exciting! Good luck with the class ❤️

My month is packed but I plan on Reading The Good House this month and getting to Wayward Pines and Greenbone Saga eventually.

I really need to prioritize the good house, or the short stories by that author soon!

I love hearing this! I’m excited for you to get to the end of the book!
Ugh I need to reread night film- it’s been 9 years! Thanks for reminding me about it
I can only imagine how good it’ll be the second time around! Enjoy!

I don’t think I have either! It’s been such a unique reading experience so far

Amari sounds really cute and fun. I'll have to put it on the TBR
It’s exactly that! I love how adventurous and magical it is 🥰
Tananarive Due has a new book coming on october 31st. It looks SOO good. Can't wait to read it.

I'm currently reading The Justice of Kings. The first 30% was boring to me. After that, it's excellent.
I’m glad it picked up for you and that you stuck with it! I hope you enjoy the ending ❤️
@ToriMorrow I finished the book late last night, and yes, I enjoyed it, especially Helena.
Try The Witching Hour by Anne Rice!!
I’ll add it to the tbr, thank you!!
