I heard this in an episode of South Park and had to delve into the deepest core of my memory bank to figure out where I knew it from. Not even gonna lie I'm pretty impressed with myself I found it lmao
Gulp, we've finally made Avalar ours! You've earned a special reward. (Spyro glides in all cool) Gulp, what is it, boy? Oh, the fairy. Here you go (Spyro torches his arse, Ripto jumps a mile) YARGHHHH! (Gulp tries and fails to eat Zoe) You've singed my cape! Dragon, you are REALLY STARTING TO GET ON MY NEEEERVES! Say goodbye, Flame Breath! Gulp, lunchtime! (Gulp leaps into the arena. Cue one of the most epic fights in the game) Gulp, finish him off and you can have all the fairies you can eat. I'm going to enjoy this!
The boss battle with Gulp in Spyro 2 is one of the greatest boss battles I've ever played in my life. There's just so much going on. The music, the roar, the pterodactyls dropping eggs and screeching, Gulp shooting those electric orbs, Gulp eating items, Gulp squashing you flat. And the whole time Ripto is sitting in his throne watching taunting you. This is seriously in my top 3 boss battles of all time.
Gulp is also the first boss in the series by this point that Spyro can't hurt or even irritate with his Flame Breath. You are _entirely_ reliant on outside forces to help you for the first time in a boss battle. That by itself makes this a memorable fight for me, along with all you've mentioned as well easily making it my favourite boss battle in the entire franchise next to Ripto's just after.
That's one reason I hated enter the dragonfly bc this was gulps theme (technically stock music but in the spyro universe it didn't make sense to put it in a ripto fight.)
Mr Will Entertainment There are plans of the original Spyro Remastered Trilogy coming out this year, like with Crash Bandicoot last year. If it was released, our favourite purple dragon will be back in action!
No wonder there's a skill point for doing that, cos it's REALLY hard. If you stand still llong enough, Gulp comes running over and tries to body slam you
I played this game as a kid. This was quite possibly the best of the three boss fights. Gulp gives a better challenge than Ripto and Crush, and the music is freaking epic.
Heard this in EZScape's video about Donating to Casual Streamers learning speedruns...this caught my attention because it sounded just like part of the music during the Scorpion missions in the Spider-Man (2002) movie game.
many of those sound tracks that the creators used were not officially from Spyro games. they just mixed them into some songs like in this one in 0:00 - 0:10 (and Magma Cone, and in the part when Ripto, Crush and Gulp are jumping into the water.) so that's why it's possible to hear these sounds somewhere else. my friend found them from net.
ravensfan5927 Probably for the same reason why when you put Pull out the Disc and put in Spyro 3 or 1 it starts playing music from that game. It has issue finding the right file, so it defaults to the next on the list.
Yeah I've been trying to find this clip for years, I remember hearing it before in other places but the Time Crisis is where I remember hearing it first
@PsychadelicoDuck Did this song (along with various other sound bytes) definitely come from jurassic park trespasser? that game was made in 98, and i recently heard the song in some jackie chan movie (First Strike, to be specific) and the movie came out in 96... Somthing tells me Bill Brown got his inspiration from somewhere else...
Actually suprisingly enough I heard this song on TV recently for an air conditioning ad where all these Mafia guys move in on this house, it's pretty funny.
true that. music was always kinda scary. it gave sort of feeling like "'Wow!, second boss, and i need to defeat him!'' or that sort of way. it was 1 of the most awesome boss fights ever.
@11strelokfan1000 That's cos they used the same sample library when making music for the two Scorpion levels in Spiderman: The Movie, this library was used multiple times way back in the 90's and early 2000's
@Gamerlives You won't be able to find it i think, Bill Brown said he got it from a sample library, the same library a lot of people use, which is why this style of music is in sooooooo much Culture
It's Ripto's Rage in U.S and in Europe it's Gateway to Glimmer, I may not be correct(because I have the U.S version) but I believe Hurricous in Gateway to Glimmer is known as Gear Grinders.
Everyone, after looking endlessly on the internet, i found out the solution to this music mystery. Someone on JP: Trespasser forums contacted Bill Brown about this song's use in culture, it turns out, he created the song by mixing "live orchestra "phrase" samples into one long song, and the library he used to make it has been used countless times by other people - I imagine Stewart Copeland created the "Gulp Theme" using the same sample library. Case finally closed on this mystery!!!
it was Stewart Copeland who composed the music for the three first games of Spyro. I think there a video about it, something about playstation underground of something like that Very good pieces he composed for the games
A faster version of this sample was also used for Dr Doom's theme in that shitty Fantastic Four PS1 game. I think I remember hearing it in a few WWE buildup promos too years ago.
For those who wondering, and for those already knew... This song is a redux of a Jurassic Park game, the title of the OST is "Race to the Summit", I forget which Jurassic Park game it was though. If someone could remember it, it'd be appreciated, thanks!
I know right? I swear I've heard this dam song on tv shows and in movies....maybe music producers just loved the Spyro soundtrack (composed by Stewart Copeland)
@Gamerlives Not much, I can recall various places it's been used, but I have no idea how you could access the library, it's probably really old now anyway

0:45 when you're Killstreaking and not stopping
This music was in an episode of Buffy and, weirdly enough, a Russian Civil War documentary I watched in college.
I knew it! But I didn't hear the rock guitar part in Buffy, so... Who actually made this song?
holy moley! i thought my brother was the only one who noticed that!
I thought I'd herd this in other plasis, now I no
also in an episode of "scare tactics" for a brief bit.
Funny I heard it recently in an episode of Demo Disk - Flintstoners during the Fire Department intro so it must be public domain which is cool
I laughed so hard when I read that uploader's name.
This song makes Gulp sound a lot more menacing than he actually is.
Seriously, this song has been played like, everywhere.
One of the most epic pieces in history.
"Gulp! Lunch time!"
Just realised that this song was remixed and used as the Ripto boss battle in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly.

No wonder there's a skill point for doing that, cos it's REALLY hard. If you stand still llong enough, Gulp comes running over and tries to body slam you
Fortunately, you can use the Permanent Superflame to get the skill point, making it a lot easier. Unless you prefer the challenge, that is.
Yeah, I prefer a challenge. This boss fight is fun after all
True. Gulp's fight probably is the best in the game.

Gulp was kinda hard, and this song used to scare me. I still love it. I heard this on T.V. one day and I thought of this game.
The background loop is a production theme, used by WWE at WrestleMania XX (2004). But as for other uses, I have no idea.
@sonicspeed95 Ya know.. I've heard it on Cyberchase as well..
when the guitar starts playing, thats when the action really starts to heat up. ive usually got 2 or 3 health points off him by then.
I think this music was used in one of the trailers for "Jak II."
