I love Aubrey's comment about being discovered as a complete fraud. We've all been there at one time or another. You just gotta push through at those moments. "Fake it until you make it."
I think it's common. When I got my job working on a farm (2014) they tell me are you sure you work on the farm before? Yes, I did. Why they don't see any proof because I did not advertise it and I was head down butt up working. After hearing that they don't believe me I said "do I belong here though I used to work on a farm before. I should belong here".

I love how Aubrey just owns her awkwardness. She has this uncanny vulnerable confidence and self-awareness that's such a contradiction yet completely works for her.

Some years ago, it was partly expected that her looks would crumble in a few years when her cuteness wears off and her skin begins to drag down (sort of, not sure how to describe it) - however she looks basically the same in every way.

It wasn't meant to be a compliment, she said that about herself verbatim in another interview. He said it to set-up a question, and she laughed the same way she tries to do everything. Awkwardly.

This clip is very nicely set up, as at the very end she touches on impostor syndrome a little bit, and at the beginning she says, "first of all, I'm not a genius."
I feel like an imposter and I’m not even famous.
Imposter syndrome everyone faces it when they are at a new place and feels that they don't deserve it.

The character was written for her based on her, so April is just an eggagerated version of Audrey's actual personality in real life.

Most people do, but it has to be combined with a good lighting setup and a specific black and white filter, one of which will be more focused on desaturating the red channel, thus hiding all blemishes and skin tone inconsistencies.

Well in fairness we all wear masks ... metaphorically speaking. We all play different roles in our lives. We are different things to different people. I agree that we don't know Audrey Plaza personally behind the scenes. But we can judge her on screen persona.

A girl I dated before was incredibly attractive, later on I found out she was very weird., and it made me more attracted to her because I realized she didn't have that self centered pretty girl mentality where she feels like she is a queen and has to be treated as such. She got away with it because she was attractive.

I don’t get why people think she’s “weird”. She seems pretty ordinary to me.
Honestly, having worked in the film industry, the expectation is for people to act incredibly fake and falsely professional. The situation she's describing is kind of like if you turned up to a really high profile law firm, interviewing to be a barrister, and wore sunglasses and sweatpants.

This guy must have a real Mr Rogers vibe... People always seem so comfortable and honest here. His interveiws are always so relaxing, with some of the most turnt up and high energy people in entertainment lol
Funny coincidence, just yesterday I saw an interview of another brilliant actor from India, Randeep Hooda (The guy against Chris Hemsworth in Extraction!), and he said the exact same thing that he had this fear of being found out that he doesn't belong to this world and has no clue of acting. He was talking why sometimes he works so hard on a character.
Aubrey Plaza is one of my favourites, she has some really good films, but mainly due to her off screen weirdness.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you missed what she was saying. She wasn't auditioning to play the part of a character that just so happened to be named Aubrey. They based the character on her after her meeting with them because of how unique and weird she was. It's unclear why they changed the character's name to April, perhaps her being called "Aubrey" made Plaza feel uncomfortable, as if she wasn't really acting but just playing herself.

I had a friend named Don years before parks and rec was a thing. His mannerisms, demeanor and overall weirdness was exactly like April Ludgate. He was ex-soldier with 3 black belts and held seminars on knife fighting and unarmed combat. I am sorry, I had to tell you guys this.

She has a genius for comic timing, which is the key element to being a successful comedian..... and she has a genius for being able to take on different roles and have us totally buy into her characterization - in other words, a genius for acting - that being said, most geniuses (by this definition) like Aubrey, would DENY IT
