This fantastic replica of a 16th century Spanish Galleon visited Great Yarmouth, so naturally I couldn't miss the opportunity to go and see it.
For a price you can actually sail on her. It isn't cheap but it would be certainly be a memorable experience.
These ships were the type of vessel used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions during the 16th through to the 18th centuries. Galleons were intended to discover and then establish trade routes between Spain, America and the Philippines islands, and formed what was then called the “Fleet of the Indies”. For three centuries, these Spanish galleons crossed the Atlantic Ocean back and forth, sailed around the Caribbean Sea and the American coasts, and covered the Pacific route as well. They carried plenty of seamen, merchant traders and settlers, while their holds bore the fabulous loads resulting from American and Asian trade.
Under the gun deck is the hold, an area which was used in the past to stow all loads and goods for the sailing. When galleons left Spain, they carried products such as wheat, oil, wine, cloth, weapons, paper, china, glass, medicines, tools and other European stuff. However, as they sailed back from America or the Pacific Ocean, they were mainly loaded with precious metals, such as gold and silver, pearls, precious stones and other highly appreciated American and Asian goods.
    Thank you for watching.

I toured the Andlucia when she visited Baton Rouge in 2017. She's a beautiful ship. She was moored next to the USS Kidd (DD661) and, while not very large herself, the old WWII destroyer simply dwarfed the little galleon. Not too sure I'd want to ride out heavy seas in something that small. It says a lot about the bravery and fortitude of the men in the age of sail that explored to e world in ships like this.

Thanks for the comment. I think one of the wall plaques in the Noble Area marked her visit to Baton Rouge. She felt pretty sturdy moored on a peaceful day, but I certainly wouldn't want to find myself onboard her mid Atlantic in a gale-force storm at night.

At least one doc explains correctly that this is a 16th Century spanish Galleon ....with 500 tons, while the 17th and 18th Century were 1,500 tons and 2,000 tons.

Podían haberlo pintado con colores más alegres que también los llevaban en las baterías de cañones en vez de ese negro tan soso que le han puesto.

Saw the ship last year at Brixham pirate Festival. Love the fact it's mostly black, makes it look very imposing.

Spanish can recreate a Ship from 16 hundreds and sail around the glove, but NASA cannot recover the tech to return to the moon 60 years ago?

Well, it's the same as using an IBM 360 system for the office today instead of a Mac or a PC. Budget issues aside, would you get on a machine with millions of parts that haven't been manufactured for decades or whose engineers are dead? (El Andalucía es un precioso barco, en cualquier caso)

No es un galeón, es una "nao" (más pequeño).

The vessel type is Nao not Galleon. A Galleon is bigger than this one. This is the replication of the vessel that navigated the whole world with the Captain Juan Sebastian de Elcano in the 16th century.

Thank you for the info, it's interesting to learn more about it. Circumnavigating the world on a vessel such as this was certainly a job for the brave! It's a truly beautiful ship and felt very steady (when moored), but what it would have been like in a mid Atlantic storm at night...... well.

Este barco sí es un galeón,la nao Victoria es bastante más pequeña,por internet puedes encontrar facilmente información incluso encontrar imágenes de los dos barcos juntos y ver la diferencia ya que existe una réplica de la nao victoria

Yes , besides what you commented, I who am not very knowledgeable about this matter, do have the impression that galleons had quite a higher board .
