Rip curl went out of business and had to get all their spending money from the stock market who have no connection to the beach or surfing. Then they get a bunch of selfish ego maniacs and make pointless videos of beach use and return to the stock market money people and repeat the process. Their stores failed to sell me a surfboard and all accessories just 2 weeks ago. ZERO SALES. And they don’t care they had NO sales for the whole year.

That was by far the heaviest surf footage ever! The level of individual performance was totally of the chain. All the boys are "Rippers"! And then that dredger that almost cost BK his life. What could be heavier than that. His physical fitness is definitely a factor that was keeping him alive. Way to go young man. I imagine we will be seeing more and more sessions like this. I'm thankful for all the family and friends that helped save Billy's life. Cannot ever replace support like that.

the same day i heard the news about what happened to billy in safi the waves were soo big that was like the biggest swell of the year here in morocco, at anchors almost no one surfed it that day. much respect for him. we hope to surf with him again here in taghazout morcco, all love.
Billy had the winter of a lifetime, top condition and in harmony with the ocean. If anyone can come back from a brutal injury like this it's him... he ain't done.

That's why the ocean is so unpredictable. You can surf a bunch of massive waves with no problem. Then on a smaller wave on a smaller day, when you have total confidence you get smacked down.

I shattered my pelvis in a helicopter logging accident and the broken bone pieces sliced open my right femoral artery my bladder and bowel ! I was bleeding internally for about 1.5 hours at least as we were way up the coast of BC and the heli flight took that long to get to the hospital 😑 I thought I was paralyzed because as the blood was filling my leg I was losing feeling in it ! It was beyond pain and I thought I better just concentrate on breathing or I could actually die 🤯 That was 25 years ago ! It was a hard recovery but I returned to logging just over a year later ! Eventually i became a commercial diver but the accident has taken a toll on me and I was never the same after ! I have massive respect for Billy as a surfer and person to make it through such a traumatic accident and for getting back in the horse 🤙🏼

I was lucky enough to speak with him days before the fatal accident, he spoke of how crowded Anchor point and Taghazout were and he was heading out for the search. This series brings back memories of the madman, and how I like to envision the epic session he was having in the moments preceding his death. The majority of us are not world class professionals such as Billy Kemper, and this speaks volumes about how fragile life can be. I still consider Automobiles to be the most dangerous risk we all take, but it has truly been refreshing to see stylish surfers rocking helmets these days...even though they may not provide as much safety as the man-bun (koa). RIP madman. Heal up Billy and navigate the throes of imagination, doubt and tragedy that must be stirring through your mind so you can charge as hard as ever. Much love to all.

Those waves in Morocco are INCREDIBLE, and the rides captured in the video are also out of this world. Reminds me a bit of the "Endless Summer" sequences in Jeffrey's Bay but much bigger and not the length of rides at Jeffrey's. Anyway, the tragic events Billy went through must have been so grueling. His survival was like a long ride on a nightmarish wave of torture for weeks.

Thing is, its not a really bad wipeout:/ Its not big, its not reef, he was just unlucky. It happens. I broke my neck at C7 after being pitched like an arrow from the lip of an eight footer over sand! Another time, in the eightys a miracle occurred and Bondi beach actually produced a sick bank! It was only three feet but dredging out to dry sand at times. A mate got rolled in one of these sick little barrels, caught up with his board. He copped the point right in the guts. he had to hold his stomach in getting across the road ffs:/ It does not have to be big to be dangerous either! Shit happens, given time, all of us will experience something similar, hopefully without so much damage being done....Overall you were ripping Billy, glad your ok:)
I feel like this could've been an AMAZING 90 min documentary that even non surfers could enjoy. I could share it with the average person and they would watch. Seems like the 6 episode thing was a mistake and the promo for this is weak. All the comments on promo posts places like facebook are asking for more info and where they can watch. The paid ads on Facebook DONT EVEN TELL YOU HOW TO WATCH IT. I want this to succeed and this criticism comes from the right place. Seems like they really dropped the ball spreading the word on this, its great content
