First, this thing was done in slow motion. Saving/loading whenever he failed. that's why he seems to be in control of every situation, and he know's levels completely inside out. Second, black wasn't used propably because palette choices. They had white skin color that every character uses, there were only 16 or so different colors Sega could use per level, and they used the 3 or 2 colors for black man on the levels and enemies. Purely a design choice, not racism.
15:16 It's Audrey2! 16:35 Ghostbuster theme! 17:05 Change weapon attacks! And let's beat the boss which we beaten! 11:28 Michelin parody Daily Sega New: Finish in 23:35,the ghostbuster make the night so short!
It's amazing how little I remembered of playing this game until I saw certain parts. Kept thinking I didn't make it to this part then saw something that I remembered playing. I didn't recall the last boss until the second version of it with the skull face. I didn't recall the ending until I saw the Ghostbusters walk out one at a time. Actually surprised I beat this. I must have been better back then. Haha memories.
This Incredible Sega cart proves that there truly is a God . . . And based on the skills on display during this Play-through, it appears that God actually took some time out to upload a video after playing this game. Great video for an equally great game!
The Joker I wouldn't say that. ALL of the tools the Ghostbusters have, they have because of Egon. The Proton packs, the traps, the Containment unit, the works. The business wouldn't BE without Egon. Also, R.I.P, Harrold Ramis.
Gabriel Brown And without Harold Ramis, we wouldn't have Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, and As Good As It Gets. All of which never fail to get me laughing!
anyone watching it in december 2015? good ol memories! BTW nice TAS and for ppl who thinks its impossible to OHKO enemies, since they takes 6 hits, he used turbo shot to make looks like they dies from 1 shot
@KingTreeFrog Thankfuly Winston is playabile in many of the different games based on Ghostbusters II as well as Ghostbusters the video game for Nintendo DS.
I want to add that the colors of the black man weren't necessarily black, they were other colors. but the black dude's colors would've been in the place of some other colors they used. Palette swaps were well used in bosses, you could really tell you did damage to a boss when it changes color many times a little bit. This game is very good master piece technically. Good music also, good use of the crappy soundchip Sega had, except for the lightning effects in castle stage... Very annoying.
I highly doubt any cheat code was used here, its hard to tell whether the game is on it's hardest setting if you ask me, the one thing i did spot is the clear use of some kind of turbo mod on the attack button, not cheating however you could get control pads like that standard back in the day!
:D you play this so well. i actually just picked this up at the flea market this weekend and i was not even doing good at all. lol have you seen any videos from The Game Chasers? they go out and find all kinds of rare games, good deals and kinda review retro games. their channel is captain8bit you would probably like them a lot. :)
WOW! This is the very best of the all! hehehe Can't belive that LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR plant boss is in this games! ahahahahaha Thanks for the memories!
I was playing this game recently and the ladder won't come down fully (at 11:14) for me. It won't let me proceed to the next area to battle Stay Puft. I don't know why. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Okay first of all I don't remember the stay puft marshmallow man shooting lasers from his eyes haha and secondly, where the hell is Winston? Racist Sega lol anyway, thanks for uploading this video. Gotta love the nostalgia of old school games.
You need a TAS emulator called bizhawk, then you can slow it down using the specified hotkeys, or maybe from the menus also. I didn't use bizhawk when I made this, because this is old as hell
I do rather wish you hadn't have skipped through some of the stuff so fast. I'd like to read it, for nostalgia sake. I do remember beating the game was a bitch.
Maybe it had something to do with the whole Eddie Murphy/Ernie Hudson thing. Eddie Murphy was originally supposed to play Winston. I also remember seeing the very original GB1 cover. No Winston there either, but they later added him, sort of ducking for cover in the background.
buwahaha you seriously don't even get to play as Winston?? What kind of crap is that??? I get that he came in late in the film but still. You don't DO Ghostbusters without all four, that's just nonsense lol.
One of the first games that I ever bought for the Sega Genesis. The passing of Harold Ramis makes me want to play the game again.
RIP Harold Ramis
7:27 - a kill in 5 seconds? Even for a TAS, that's damn impressive.

Also because Winston, being strong AND fast, would be a game breaker even on hard mode.
15:16 It's Audrey2!

I love how you can actually land on the very edge of platforms in this game
This music is actually realy good.
I used to not even mind starting the game over and over and never being able to beat it because the music just keeps you going
@KingTreeFrog yeah, the earlier ghostbusters for NES didn't have Winston either for some reason, i remember that from AVGNs review
how do you trap the ghost ever time i try it get away

Wow... Harold Ramis really kicked ass back in the day.
"I chose this guy". It's Egon dude!!! How can you not know that???
***** Forgive him for not being as knowledgeable as you, Larry.
Gabriel Brown He's the least important one, obviously ;)
The Joker I wouldn't say that. ALL of the tools the Ghostbusters have, they have because of Egon. The Proton packs, the traps, the Containment unit, the works. The business wouldn't BE without Egon. Also, R.I.P, Harrold Ramis.

This guy is a monster
anyone watching it in december 2015? good ol memories! BTW nice TAS and for ppl who thinks its impossible to OHKO enemies, since they takes 6 hits, he used turbo shot to make looks like they dies from 1 shot
yup watching it right now
Anyone watching in 2021
First thing I used to do after getting home from school was play this game. Memories
I know this is TAS but goddamn the way they nuked the dana/zul miniboss pissed me off.
This is a bad ass example of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive using it's sound chip properly.
Have to love Ghostbusters on the Genesis man best platform for the game digging the channel keep up the great videos
@KingTreeFrog Thankfuly Winston is playabile in many of the different games based on Ghostbusters II as well as Ghostbusters the video game for Nintendo DS.
yeah, it's because the game runs 60 frames per second, while youtube only allows 30 fps, so the flashing of the beam doesn't work correctly
I agree with RaikaSTi, the ice stage music was pretty good.
I want to add that the colors of the black man weren't necessarily black, they were other colors. but the black dude's colors would've been in the place of some other colors they used. I want this game on XBox Arcade! I want to play this again. This was my all time favorite game.

TAS means tool assisted speedrun. Basically a computer is playing.
@@konayasai ah right gotcha
:D you play this so well. i actually just picked this up at the flea market this weekend and i was not even doing good at all. lol

lol @ 19:20 - homage to Rick Moranis and Audrey II from Lil' Shop Of Horrors.
XTheVideoGamerGirlX It is a mix between Audrey 2 and the Demi Gorgon from stranger things.
7:29
Wow... that Middle Ghost battle lasted what, like 5 seconds? O_o
WOW! This is the very best of the all! hehehe Can't belive that LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR plant boss is in this games! ahahahahaha Thanks for the memories!
Took a visual / audio hit with the emulation.
The good old days,
The days you didn't need to reload
in hardest dificult the first enemys take more than 1 shoot
14:45. Egon just killed death.
Egon:Runnin' through Bosses LIKE A BAWSS!
K-Bone Hey, look what you comment 5 year ago.
I had this game.
I was playing this game recently and the ladder won't come down fully (at 11:14) for me. It won't let me proceed to the next area to battle Stay Puft. I don't know why. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
7:27 - wow, that was fast!
Same
true, but i wouldn't classify it as a cheat code.
The ladder doesn't drop down before stay puffed boss... bug?? dirty game?
Ooh, that happened to me sometimes.
Egon: Yeah, Science bitch!
its imposible, in hard mode the first enemies take 6 or more hits to die
wtf... 23:56 ... some guy called "Healthy Toyama"
Okay first of all I don't remember the stay puft marshmallow man shooting lasers from his eyes haha and secondly, where the hell is Winston? Racist Sega lol anyway, thanks for uploading this video. Gotta love the nostalgia of old school games.
super
stay puft man!!
how did this guy get it done so fast?
They left Winston out.
7:29 trololololo

even with tool assists, you must have had to have played this game a hundred times, sheesh

TAS - Tool Assisted Run

I played that game many times
how do you make the game slow down

That doesn't sound right.....people of all colors should be treated equally.
