Thank you so much for making this video. In a very crucial time you save me to take my wrong decision. It's very helpful. Once again thank you so much for your advice, Shweta Didi.
Didi I m currently pursuing bsc in microbiology. But know an intrest for mba is building inside me. But I am confused about for what specialization I should target for starting my cat journey.
I have experienced both sectors and I know both have pros and cons, nothing is best or worst. It totally depends on family background and your social circle.

@@piyush9279 Your mindset and ability to take risk in your career depends on how financially your family background or how how much a family is exposed to different career paths etc.. Like when I joined Govt sector my father as an govt. Employee was scared that what will happen if I think beyond my job. But the same is not true with my sister as I have seen how people are taking risk , pursuing different careers so she is trying to hone her skills to excel in financial domain unlike me who since college was busy getting in SSC CGL job.
I enrolled in a distance MBA program to prepare for government exams. Now I wasn't able to give my 100% in either one. And you could say I've wasted 2 years of my life. So I would suggest this to the majority of people that focus on only one goal & give your 100%.
I'm currently working in Railways, and one thing I can say that you cannot compare every govt exams with CAT. Every department have there own pattern. So you need to prepare every exams separately.
One thing you forgot to mention is the intensity of competition in government jobs. There is cutthroat competition and candidates are getting rejected by margins of 0.01 mark( you will find 20-30 candidates within the same score i.e upto 2 decimal points). So if one is comfortable with heartbreak, should pursue government jobs exam prep.
Guys your dedication and hard work decides your future. It doesn't matter how many people are applying for the job, the truth is that only a few of them are serious about that. So guys just focus on your goals and don't listen others. Always remember good things take time.
Always have a back up plan if you are a UR categery student wanting to be inngOVT job exam ...IN UR categery, you have to pay 5X application fee (especiallly in BANK exams SC/ST 175 rs ,,,,UR 850 rs) and extremely less chances of selection, compared to SC/ST/OBC candidates.
due to all respect ma'am,The learning capabilities is much more higher then a government jobs & also people will be more fimilier with technologies while working in private sector which is a absolutely great thing.😊

At 5:35, you touch upon the topic of pensions, which unfortunately no longer applies to government employees who joined after or from 2002. As a person who has given both and scored 96.7 percentile in CAT 22 in first attempt, i would like to say that govt. Exams like ssc cgl are exponentially harder, its not the 90 percent easy questions in these exams, everyone does them, its about the other 10 percent, competition is cutthroat in govt exams, cat relatively is a cakewalk imo...
One thing i would like to mention is that how someone can undermine IBPS or SBI Mains paper with CAT. Just go through one mock exam of SBI PO MAINS paper in OLIVEBOARD or PRACTICEMOCK and you will get to know the standard of Bank government exams. You can't compare CAT paper with Government Exams. Except Reading comprehension is tough nut to crack in CAT and that is totally acceptable.
Very well said Psu exams are are different than central govt exam specially bank exams are like cat exam with 1 level less difficulty Those who have written both can only judge them
Hi Didi, I scored 97 percentile(engineer from core branch in NIT) in CAT exam but due to my lack of ability to communicate well (specially because I am weak in English) I couldn't crack any interview. I only got waitlisted in some new IIMs. Communication is the key excel in after MBA career, how to improve it? Now I am preparing for both govt and CAT exams.
You forgot one major difference..in government jobs your background doesn't matter much but for iims and other good mba colleges , your profile carries a lot of weightage in final selection.
The main difference is that after giving mba exam you get into a college to study for next 2 years and then get a job but after giving a government exam you directly get a job that too with great salary and additional perks
Hi Shweta, I really appreciate your effort. What you do is truly remarkable. I prepared for both exams so I can share my experience. yes the syllabus of government exams like bank po, defense, and CGL may seem easy in comparison to exams like CAT and GMAT but the amount of competition you face in government exams is incomparable. Whereas in CAT only 2 lac applicants appear for the exam, in exams like CGL almost 30 lac students appear. in CAT, accuracy matters, but in an Exam like CGL, you need almost 100% accuracy and speed. I had prepared for SSC CGL and Defence exam for 2 yrs but couldn't make it to the final selection. Whereas I prepared for CAT only for two months and secured a 97% on my first attempt. also if you're comparing the government exam then you can't leave UPSC out. I have met a lot of people who came from IITs and IIMs but now are preparing for UPSC CSE.
Tbh most people don't go for MBA because of high fees it's not just cutt off you have clear you have to pay a huge sum too which only few can afford while in banks or government jobs it's not there where once exam is cleared you get the job after a good interview which isn't the case with b school they will take your money , interview, past academics and all the unnecessary things to decide whether you will study there or not

The most important thing in Indian societies or specially in a small city is "Job security with a decent salary", Job Security is most important as small towns do not have as many pvt companies established as like other big cities or states like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata etc do. So if a person works in pvt sector and looses the job, life gets hell. Most RUclips speakers / mentors do not know the situation of small towns as they mostly belong from big cities. I am from Tripura (northeast), here if someone is getting starting salary of 20-25k in govt sector (group c posts) he / she is satisfied, Phd, MTech holders are applying for Group D Peon job ... Now ok, no job is bad, but you got my point right !!! ... We think we belong to middle class, but the reality is we don't even belong to lower class ... LOL ... The only way this big issue can be solved is by establishing good mnc companies in small states, Now state govt. has to take initiatives for these things. Lekin inko mandir mashjid banane se fursat mile tab nahhh !!!
Govt exam is much much tougher than CAT not due to difficulty level but due to no of candidate, literally lakhs and crore student appear for few hundred post , and also scoring almost 90% marks. Normalization is another headache.
Hey Shweta, I received a KT (carry-over) in my final year of graduation last semester, and I have a strong aspiration to pursue an MBA from a top institute. I am highly motivated and determined to put in the necessary hard work to clear my KT and perform well in the CAT entrance exam. However, I have concerns about how this academic KT might impact my chances of getting into a top institute. Please help me with this. If possible please make a video on this. Thank You.
Really😀😀😀😀…..have you got into IIMs??……you can’t just get that with long hour study you need to be smart and intelligent…….IIM passed out get corporate job where salary is too high……I have hardly seen any IIM grad opts for govt job
I have worked in a government bank for 2 years, took the CAT exam without preparation, and am currently sitting in an IIM. I think Sweta did not take the mains exams of government jobs into consideration, or maybe she couldn't include that in the video due to time constraints. What I can say about my experience of both the exams is..... no doubt prelims of gov jobs are easier... Quantitative aptitude is comparable in both exams. Actually, Mains exams of Banks are far more complex than CAT. Reasoning is also almost at the same level when comparing the mains exams. English in CAT is harder than it seems at first look and definitely more challenging than Gov job exams. And what you forgot to factor in, in your video is the time constraints in the exams. For Example, in gov exams, you have to solve 100 questions in 60 minutes, and the cut-off ranges from 70 to 96 marks out of 100. almost always. CAT gives you sufficient time to go to the toilet, take a nap, drink some water during exams, revise what you have done, and still get 95 percentile just by solving 2 to 3 sets of questions in each section. In short, gov jobs- speed+ accuracy. CAT- accuracy.

I will advice ki think twice before preparing for government job
U don't know the cut throat competition of govt job these days..in ssc exams about 40 to 50 lakhs forms are filled for about 2 to 3 thousand post..and cutoff are 90q out of 100 including gk(vast one)..even in cat u correct 5 to 7 q you will get ur percentiles and get a iim but 1 silly mistakes in gvt job exam will cost u your whole year..rather govt jobs r not regular these days making it tougher among all exams..
Even after doing MBA, you can apply in government banks via lateral recruitment process(mostly scale 3 posts and above). There are many IIM B and C passouts, whom I know, are doing jobs in SBI through lateral recruitment. And one more thing. From what I understood in this video, the pattern you talked about of government exams is mainly about the bank exams which you might have given in your student career. A lot of other exams like LIC, SSC and Railways have a slightly different pattern where syllabus is also a bit different.
@@GATESTATS it's not about what i mean. It is a reality. Not everyone passing out of the top B-schools come out with mind boggling salaries. And most of it is also inflated. Those joing SBI/government bank as Scale 3 officers also earn quite well and that also has a job security factor added to it. It all depends on personal preferences.

In short all exams are tough to crack, while govt jobs offer you power, job security more work life balance, the private jobs offer more work load but more money less job security.. Choose between the either, you will loose on something. I think becoming politician is a good idea. 😅

Difficulty in getting govt job is the MOST DIFFICULT stage in life of Indian students. The system doesn't believe in meritocracy. Growth in salary per year is limited and in a socialist pattern. Promotion is also categorised under reserved and unreserved category. If you're an I IT or IIM guy having proved your merit just like CA IAS where first time pass out rate is less than 2% it's advisable to opt for a job that renumerates your merit.
Firstly appear Rbi Grade B and Crack SBI PO then make a video on this topic. Secondly you can compare the level of difficulty of CAT and bank exams but you can't compare the level of competition in them
Can you make a video on which government exams an MBA aspirant can target? Like Bank PO exam, RBI Grade B exam, etc. (and adding information about when these exams are conducted would be useful as well).

You didn’t mention the competition in MBA exams and Govt exams as it is much higher in govt exams Also one of my friend passed out from a good IIM struggled to clear the govt exam and finally clear it in his 3rd or 4th attempt. I agree with you in many points but now a days workload is very much in central govt too. And pension is no more in govt jobs it is now similar to pvt jobs.

Hi Sister , this is a wonderful comparison between these two paths . As a banking aspirant fortunately I've come accross these two paths during my preparation journey . Last year I've qualified for IBPS PO mains exam and the very next day 22' CAT was held . So, in my opinion Mains of PO(or you may say assistant manager ) is near about as difficult as CAT . With the same preparation of Mains of PO (either IbPS or SBI ) one can secure 80 to 90 percentile . But , definitely CAT logical DIs are more mind-boggling .
At last she mentioned CAT us beneficial only when you get top MBA college, lese waste of Money and in an average MBA college you need to pour more than 10 lakh of Money. You can do more research on it.

Hi Shweta As a final year student(just finished 6th sem exam) btech '24, what should i prioritise: summer internship or preparing for CAT '23? Personal background: Already done one tech internship last summer in a reputed company Profile 9/8/8, tier 3 college (central uni) I am not interested in engineering anymore, barely passing so not interested in tech internship. Which is better a non tech internship or no intership at all for now and just prepare for CAT?
I have a similar doubt man , I am not interested in tech anymore but i really want to know what is the difference in the work life of a techie and a management job Please any knowledge regarding this ?
@@shivanshu5702 I'll be making a generalized statement. The work life of non tech jobs generally involves talking with people so good communication, leadership and strategy skills and an extrovert nature is preferred. Whereas tech job requires comparatively less communication than non tech job so one can get by without much interaction. My friend loves that and it requires high technical skills and subject knowledge. Life is generally the same, the difference comes in the work that one has to do and what kind of life one wants. I absolutely hate doing the technical stuff so it's not for me. Everyone is different. Hope this helps :)

I am very much confused what to do should I prepare for cat or should I prepare for RBI grade b exam as preparing for cat and taking loans after selection and then repaying it later will be long process as it usually takes 5 years in general in most of the cases on other hand RBI offers a handsome salary more or less same with the iims baring some top colleges plus there is stability and job security on the other hand cat also provide the iim tag which will be very helpful to grow faster in long run i am a fresher will be graduating in June engineer male your suggestions will be highly appreciated and thanks in advance for all your suggestions.
Hi Shweta Didi, I am an SBI PO aspirant. With all due respect, Didi, I would like to share my thoughts. The difficulty level of SBI PO is more or less similar to CAT, especially the mains exam, which includes DI & puzzles and is quite challenging. I have some friends who only prepared for SBI PO and appeared for CAT without specifically preparing for it, and they still managed to score 94-95 percentile. One friend of mine cleared NMAT but couldn't clear SBI PO, now you can gauge the level. Speaking of the RBI Grade B exam, Didi, it is one of the toughest exams in the banking category. Its pattern and syllabus is similar to UPSC (IAS). The compensation package for this position is around 25-30 lacs, and many UPSC aspirants consider it as a backup option. RBI provides deputation in CBI, ED, IMF, ADB, and the World Bank, where one experiences the epitome of power and respect. Although every government officer holds power and respect, I believe that the level of competition in CAT is extremely less as compared to government exams where 15-20 lakh people appear for 800-1000 vacancies, whereas only 2 lakh people appear for the CAT exam.
Thank you so much for sharing these points ❤️ Will certainly help someone in further making their decision. At the time when I was preparing for MBA (2017), the difficulty level of SBI PO exams wasn't as much as CAT, don't know if the level has changed since then. CAT, as an exam, tests your strategy/decision making while I feel most other exams test your speed/conceptual knowledge. I could be wrong, as my sample size is fairly small.
@@Shweta-Arora Firstly, I would like to appreciate your dedication and humbleness. 😊 Didi, the level has tremendously changed. My cousin sister cleared SBI PO in 2018, and she was my inspiration for my inclination towards SBI. However, now when I ask her to help me with my doubts, she struggles to answer my queries. So, Shweta didi, you are not wrong. Rather, you are right, considering the fact that you are sharing thoughts based on the level you encountered. Although didi, there are three stages: the first is prelims, which is moderate; the second is mains, which is similar to CAT; and the third is the interview.
I & Bunch Of Friends Cracked SBI PO Last Year But Didn't Join As We Wanted A High Salary In A Metro City Or Abroad. So We Pretty Much Know What We Are Talking About, Coming To Your Doubts...... All Other MBA Exams Are Similar Or Less Than SBI PO But CAT Is More Difficult In Every Section. In Mathematics, In Banking There Is Arithmetic, Simplification Etc While In CAT From Geometry To Modern Maths To Algebra, Everything Comes Banking RCs Are Pretty Easy Comparative To CAT. As Banking RCs Level Relies On Editorials Etc Of Hindu While CAT Doesn't Go Below The Level Of Newyorktimes, Guardian, & Aeon Essays. From Genetic Biology To Hereditary Science, It Covers Everything. Coming To Reasoning, Similar Case Here. " There Is Reason Why SBI POs Goes To IIM, Not IIM Grads Go To SBI PO " & I Know Many People Who Cracked Banking Exam But Couldn't Crack IIM. Because For IIM You Are Competing Against CAs, IITians, Even Some Doctors For Those Few Seats Unlike In Bank Exam +Yess Number Of People Appearing For Government Exams Are Higher But It Doesn't Mean It Becomes Difficult. Even People Appear For Harvard, MIT & Even Appearing For IIT Are Lesser But It Doesn't Mean It Becomes Easy Comparing To Bank. Majority Gov Candidates Are Not Serious, They Fill Government Forms Because The Hype Society Has Build Around It. + Ask All The SBI POs Studying Currently In IIM, Some Cracked It In First Time & Some Took Two Attempts As It Was Surely More Difficult If Not Easy

You forgot one major difference..in government jobs your background doesn't matter much but for iims and other good mba colleges , your profile carries a lot of weightage in final selection.
The main difference is that after giving mba exam you get into a college to study for next 2 years and then get a job but after giving a government exam you directly get a job that too with great salary and additional perks
in mba you get far more salary than gov one

Han toh 30lakh ke liye kam bhi karlenge lol 12lakh and 30lakh mein bohoth difference hota hai
Why don't you try for CAT ? If you find it easier than Bank Clerk ?

UPSC is emotion. No job can beat it.

But , definitely CAT logical DIs are more mind-boggling .

bro cat gives u aspirational jobs so if u want to leave iims for government then it better be upsc, rbi or ssc and not just another PO exam

Well i started preparing for cat last year got 62%ile only scored 98.6 percentile in SNAP and got selected in ibps po.. still going to aim for blacki next year...
Just a message to all the aspirants- krte rho, consistent rho, ho jayega.. ❤
You selected as a po. Then why do you want to do MBA
Thank you so much❤ much needed
I am working with an English news channel as I just graduated with a degree in journalism and mass comm but as I can't see a future in this industry, I decided to go for either govt exams or CAT. But I was really confused about what to focus on...your video has helped me a lot in shaping my decision. Thanks but we can't deny the fact that it's not easy to get a government job looking at the competition and age limit while we are allowed to crack CAT at any age.
Govt ke vacancy ayegi 2000-4000 ...yaha to 20-22 iims h ...snap se 16 colleges. Starting 50-60 k mba se...mast life govt me jao gaon me posting...itna mar mar k padho le deke nikega clerk ka exam ....phir kya karogo
thanks Shweta didi!! I am aspiring of appearing for CAT after following your videos! I have more than 90 percent in my 10th but my 12th was a disaster because I focussed too much upon Competitive exams like JEE instead of focussing on boards... So I didn't even think of appearing for CAT coz it was a nightmare for me... But your videos gave me hope didi... I am aspiring to appear for cat after doing 2 years job... I wish if you have been my elder sister I would excel in everything under your guidance. You explain things so nicely! I would have been an obedient little brother.
12th me kitna percent tha bhai?
Thank You for this video. 😍🙌🏻🙏🏻
Anytime ❤❤
Hi Shweta
As a final year student(just finished 6th sem exam) btech '24, what should i prioritise: summer internship or preparing for CAT '23?
Personal background: Already done one tech internship last summer in a reputed company
Profile 9/8/8, tier 3 college (central uni)
I am not interested in engineering anymore, barely passing so not interested in tech internship.
Which is better a non tech internship or no intership at all for now and just prepare for CAT?
I have a similar doubt man , I am not interested in tech anymore but i really want to know what is the difference in the work life of a techie and a management job
Please any knowledge regarding this ?
@@shivanshu5702 I'll be making a generalized statement.
The work life of non tech jobs generally involves talking with people so good communication, leadership and strategy skills and an extrovert nature is preferred.
Whereas tech job requires comparatively less communication than non tech job so one can get by without much interaction. My friend loves that and it requires high technical skills and subject knowledge.
Life is generally the same, the difference comes in the work that one has to do and what kind of life one wants. I absolutely hate doing the technical stuff so it's not for me. Everyone is different. Hope this helps :)
@@ayushsenseisamabcz I think you are introvert and you can't be with machines anymore..you need some space..if I'm not wrong
Very helpful video 👍🏻
Most needed video in current scenario
Hope it helps!!
Thanku thanku so much 🥺 Mai paresaan tha isko leke 🥺❤
Thanks alot 🥺
Useful Guidance. Thank you ma'am 😊🙏
Much needed ❣️❣️
Explore more areas for videos rather than only MBA... Be it a dance video, gardening, or anything.. 😊 Your channel will achieve great heights
Thank you 🙏 so much you solved my problem genuinely ❤ heartily thank you
Exactly what I was looking for!! I was so confused but you provided valuable insight 💞thank you 💝
Dii please make video on difference between government job and CA
I will be grateful to you....😊😊
One major difference is:- In a government job you will work for your own country and in MBA jobs you will be working for another country 🤣
You can join an india company
Thank you for valuable information ❤
Why dont you share the JOB level of PRESSURE❤😅
The only reason i choose to be in Govt. sector❤
Pressure is there in govt sector also
Thank you so much I was so confused because my parents forced me to do a government exam and I want to pursue an MBA but now because of you I got my clarity thank you so much 💓
I am very much confused what to do should I prepare for cat or should I prepare for RBI grade b exam as preparing for cat and taking loans after selection and then repaying it later will be long process as it usually takes 5 years in general in most of the cases on other hand RBI offers a handsome salary more or less same with the iims baring some top colleges plus there is stability and job security on the other hand cat also provide the iim tag which will be very helpful to grow faster in long run i am a fresher will be graduating in June engineer male your suggestions will be highly appreciated and thanks in advance for all your suggestions.
What did you choose??
Then what you did??
Thank you so much ! I was so confused, ur advise helped me to clear my confusions & guided me to make future plans
@@Shweta-Arora ✨🙌
@@gursimransingh6119 right on all the points..recently i cleared ibps and sbi…and mains level is almost similar to mba exams
In Mathematics, In Banking There Is Arithmetic, Simplification Etc While In CAT From Geometry To Modern Maths To Algebra, Everything Comes
Banking RCs Are Pretty Easy Comparative To CAT.
Because For IIM You Are Competing Against CAs, IITians, Even Some Doctors For Those Few Seats Unlike In Bank Exam
+Yess Number Of People Appearing For Government Exams Are Higher But It Doesn't Mean It Becomes Difficult.
Jese bi mne cs aspirant hu abhi toh kya mai koi bi govt exam du thoo difficult level kese dekha jaega as i have studied most of syllabus and also my cseet syallabus also revolve around quant english and reasoning so did i passed govt exam if i give?plzz tell
Much required video, atleast for me, thank you Shweta di...!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
@@Shweta-Arorashweta di.. Navi Mumbai me ITM B-school achi he kya mujhe approval aaya he waha ka!
Literally I was longing for this 😩.... Thank you so much di ❤️
Very well Explained.. and thanks for clearing my confusion.. i have one doubt between these two exams.. as my past acads are 67/57/53 Engineer, Category SC, work ex 32 months as i like both the exams Govt & CAT what would you suggest???
Abh Government Jobs Mein Pensions Nahi Milta Hai
Most of the students give Government exams because of only job security (only for marriage 🤫).
Our old school society has a misconception that if you get government job then your life is set and you don't need to work when you get a government job.
Shame on this society 🤬🤬
True that, the scenario has changed big time now in government sector also.
@@Shweta-Arora my family forces me everyday to attempt government exam, I've told them thousand times that i don't want to become government servant i don't want respect, there's not exponential growth in government job still they say, you won't need to work and what not. I think government job has more influence on families rather than aspirants 💯.
@@shrikantpawar4055Very apt! It may be due to a generation gap as well
Bro many of the cat top percentilers do upsc and rbi after getting the top iim tag
Just type reality of mba on yt and there salary
If you can get top notch govt or psu job like it is way better than iims
@@a.veduworld1684Actually there are very few who do that. In my batch, there were more people who quit their govt jobs to do an MBA than those who graduated and did a govt job. Same is the case for most batches.
