Them saying no right off the bat pisses me off so much. It just shows the issues with WB. They will let numerous Elseworld style live action movies like Joker and The Batman, but as soon as it's animation based on one of the most beloved animated shows it doesn't even get considered. Backwards ass thinning if you ask me, and the Spider-Verse movies proved it
Take a chill pill. I hate it too but I'm coping with reading comics. I guess fans can't see the DC Cinematic universe in full glory.
They approved a Krypto the Superdog movie...but NOT a Batman Beyond movie.
Never forget that alberto mielgo is the artist resposible for the artstyle of spiderverse, he does not get enough credit for that, check out his shorts on love death and robots, his short the windshield wiper, the show tron uprising, or the ad he did for watchdogs legion, his work is phenomenal

Just wanna prematurely respond to a sentiment I keep seeing, that people are tired of everything "copying Spider-verse" and they don't want this Batman Beyond because it would "look just like Spider-verse".
A. The movies people say is copying Spider-verse do not look like Spider-verse. Take the characters from TMNT and place them next to the characters from Spider-verse. Look at the scribbled marker textures and grossly misshapen body parts. They are clearly different worlds. Similar techniques? Sure. Inspiration? I'm positive. But not the same art style.
B. Pixar made movies in the same art style for decades and no one said "eh, I don't want Wall-E because it looks too visually similar to Incredibles. It needs a different art style"
If only we got a batman beyond movie and arkham batman beyond game
James gun isn't keeping the embargo there's multiple approve side projects under the DC elseworlds banner. I think Superman and Lois got cancelled because they aren't making much money back from it. CW shows usually lose money.
If someone tried to do a live action BB movie, how would it work w/ the FULL face cowl? 🤔
Same way Spider-Man is presented in live-action - he'll wear the cowl for a couple of scenes, but he'll whip the mask off at every available opportunity.

Before you said it's going uncanny valley, well, this is a comic book movie with a guy dressed like a bat to fight crime, and Avatar works, so why can't Batman Beyond's moving mask work?

I think this is most likely going to get greenlit because James Gunn has stated that Spider-Verse is his favorite superhero movie and I’m pretty sure he would want to produce a movie with the guys who made his favorite superhero movie. It’s just a matter of when
This era of animated films seems great because of new creativity. We had the error of Disney films which was awesome and then it kinda got stale but we had good animated films here and there but now since spiderverse it seems like a new error has been ushered in that allowing creators to adopt new animation styles and ideas to create some of the most loving and gorgeous animated films/series we have seen.
When it comes to Batman beyond the concept art did look amazing but you gotta think where does this fit into the vision of james gunn DC universe because I feel like the tomorrow verse is gonna be ending soon so that it doesn't compete with the new animated stuff within james gunn DC universe so hes being very careful with what projects he greenlit unlike the past DC just throwing projects at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Should also note that it was said that at first DC didn't want to greenlit the Batman Beyond project but after seeing the concept art they said there is a chance it can happen.
Them releasing the artwork online for fans to see was definitely so that they could warn support for the project which was probably an idea they got from the whole Snyder cut happening because of the fans constant support.
There is no way james gunn hasn't noticed the demand for the project to go forward at this point since he pays close attention to online leaks and theories from the community. If they do decide to go forward with it they will probably have them working in the background and announce the project is in development after the third spiderverse film has released.
I just hope they are careful because we only know how the project was planned to look like and not the story itself. Did they plan on continuing the story from the animated series or would they be telling the story we all know over again but have it crammed into one film which I wouldn't like. If they do get the project I hope they greenlit multiple films so that they aren't forced to downgrade the story and instead build out the world and maybe it would be nice if they didn't follow other adaptation one to one but instead told their own unique story and interpretation on the world like they did with spiderverse.

I wanna give my 2 cents on the whole Batman Beyond animated film thing, that people seem confused about. Everyone on social media believes that the rumored Jurassic League animated film was picked over Batman Beyond, but what people don’t realize is that the Batman Beyond film wasn’t pitched to Gunn yet. The artist clearly states, in his tweet, that he’s making his way through the studio to be able to pitch it to Gunn.
Also, if the Batman Beyond Animated film is green-lit this would be the third, possibly fourth if you count Joker, Batman franchise that would be in theaters and the third out of three Elseworlds Bat-centric film. To add to that, break down the baseline premise of Batman Beyond: A stylized animated film that would’ve told the story of teenage, possibly person of color if they would’ve gone the Asian-American route, character who takes up the mantle of a previously established superhero, who is older, and wears a different suit that has the color scheme of Black and Red… sound familiar.
I don't know why people are jumping to conclusions about this Batman Beyond animated movie. It's not like Lord and Miller, Kemp Powers, Michael Rianda (director of Mitchels vs the Machines and TMNT: Mutant Mayhem) or Seth Rogen pitched this movie. It was ONE artist (who's a very talented individual) pitched this film and, from what it sounds like, it's still being pitched.
I 100% believe that a Batman Beyond animated film is going to come out and might be this version, that was pitched, but let’s all step back and see the bigger picture of the whole thing and let’s not start jumping to conclusions.

Heads of studios hate animation ad well. I believe that is why animated media is being remade to live action. The old men running the companies still see animation as silly little cartoons.

That crisis pt.1 movie was so fucking shit. That AND that stupid war world bullshit. I used to LOVE DC animation, but wow. Those movies were all over the place, both had an hour of just random bullshit happening.
The Tomorrowverse actually has 2 decent movies, the one it started with, Superman: Man Of Tomorrow, and Batman The Long Halloween (came out in 2 parts but I count that as 1 movie)... and also, I think DC could probably make 1 good Batman Beyond live-action movie. If they found the right person, it could probably be a good trilogy, but they wouldn't find the right guy to make them. It would be more like The Amazing Spider-Man. We'd get 1 good movie and then 1 kinda bad one.
Honestly, I think DC's New 52 based animation was mostly great. The DCAMU. Not nearly as good as the original DCAU, but still. They did good recently enough it doesn't necessarily feel like they've completely lost it... somehow. Despite like 6 bad movies out of 8 lol. If the Crisis movies are good, or their next universe is good, then I think people just forget there were a few flops.
Honestly I think this would’ve been kind of redundant. The concept art is way too similar to spider-verse. I mean ink looks just like the spot at the end of ATSV. I just feel like it wouldn’t have hit the way people are saying it would have.
WB is seeing the money they could have pad with spider-verse and still won't green light the Batman Beyond movie, and Disney, they have the guys who did rise of the TMNT do a ad for Marvel snap, let them do a Spider-Man cartoon why are these Studios so obsessed with live action!?

Dc’s animation has gone down coincidently when their veteran voice director Andrea Romano retired. The writing was going downhill a couple years before but the timing together with the announcement of her retirement plans in 2016 (officially retired in 2020) might be more than coincidental.

Both live action and most animated DC films suck because both the pandemic and the strikes delayed any creative film and tv show. The live action films before Covid also had cgi that took years to animate.

There’s literally no reason to like Avi Arad, from a political/moral stance, to how every single issue anyone has had with the way Sony has handled the Spider-Man movie brand can be tied back to Avi Arad

“The last wish” mention was the full name of the Puss in Boots sequel, “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”. That was not a nod to Disney’s Wish.

Literally right this second as I type up this comment a Looney Tunes movie is being fed through an industrial shredder. You think this movie would’ve faired any better? They already have thrown out multiple Warner/DC animated movies, a Batgirl movie. Beyond absolutely would’ve been thrown into the shredder too
Don't forget they Shelved a bunch of animated TV shows and wrote them off on their taxes (close enough, infinity train, dozens of others) and we'll never see them get new seasons.
