I’m a BIG Barbra fan and I thoroughly enjoyed this. I’m not interested in making comparisons. These are beautiful songs that help to tell a story. They were written to serve as internal monologues to convey the intimate thoughts and emotions of a character. Ms. Fabian obviously understands this and delivers. To hear them performed at all, performed so well, and so appreciated, pleases me. Barbra may have been the original performer, but here Lara picks them up beautifully and does them justice. And how wonderful is it that there are audiences that can still be captivated by a wonderful voice, great lyrics, and beautiful music. No back-up anything, or pyrotechnics, or special effects required. Just talent. I’ll always root for that.
I'm a fan of both, Barbra's forever, and Lara's for about 5 or 6 years (well, honestly, I knew her vaguely before, which was a mistake on my part)... and I think exactly the same as you. It's appreciated to be able to enjoy these two great singers and performers.
