I understand Konami is far from being good but they at least are heading to a good direction with More Anime Nostalgia supports, Battlephase oriented Tenpai (with better arts of True "Yugioh monster" not just Gundam, waifus ) and many more. Hope our players' community actually see and appreciate their effort and strive for more positiveness like you Scarlet 🎉 Konami is starting to hear us more and more, why are we leaving the game just because of TCG competitive scene (they hate diversed format and then leave because of tier 0 anyway)?... (Japan and OCG pricing thrived with latest Guinness Record Participation in Tokyo for a reason)
It really is different. YGO is effectively experiencing the same thing as Japan's population crisis. The playerbase is older and many actually are dropping out and new players aren't coming into the game to repopulate the diminishing base. Over the past few years especially, we've seen the worst of this game's power creep and that doesn't actually make people want to play the game. They definitely don't want to play when they have to sit there for several minutes on end before they get to play and by the time they get to play. Not to mention there isn't an ongoing YGO anime series that would also entice new players to get into the game unlike before.
The only people who think it's not vastly different this time are people who haven't been paying attention to the state of the game AT ALL.
Every time:
"I'm quitting yugioh! I will sell all my cards, stop going to locals, and make sure that I- wait... is that support for a deck I used to play? Yo no fucking way I can't wait to lab this out holy shit!"
And then right back in.

Yu-Gi-Oh players are in a loop where we complain, pretend to be insightful, and have amnesia.
Take your hate and your sarcasm and throw it towards Konami since they are the god damn institution responsible for all these problems. However, they are just dont give a damn.
But I sincerely hope that one day enough people revolt against Konami so we actually get serious improvements for the first time in the game´s history. At this point Konami just milks us, and we fight each other. What a clown show.

The new deck or support needs to be too good or the majority won't even try it
The best we could get is banning the really annoying and unfair cards (but even that won't stop people from hating the best decks and the overused cards)

The only reason why Konami keeps this game existing, is because they are able to keep the playerbase hostage and indefinitely milk them.
They have absolutely no interest in the players experience, because they know Yu-Gi-Oh isn't the biggest card game, and they know it will never be if they don't start risking.
Up to this point, i think Konami made very clear that they would either let the game die, than changing something and risking their profits.
Konami isn't a company focused on games, it's a company focused on exploiting people's addictions, the fact they are the "pachinko machine" company says a lot.
I got btfo'd by a guy whose "secret deck" was Blue-Eyes at locals. I will now never touch a trading card ever again, at least for a few weeks.
I honestly changed from playing the game to collecting the decks I find fun even if they're dogshit. No more expensive staples and frustrating tournaments. Just casual games from now on
and that maybe the true intention of Mr. Takahashi for the game too 😊. Let's play new Exodia VS Yubel cause why not, we dont have to "play games" because of Competitive scene.
Have been doing that for years now and its so much fun.
We play goat, edison and such with higher cost cards as proxys and our locals is casual aswell, so you can play what you want and arent forced to get those 50$+ staples
My friends and I make decks with boss monsters cards we liked as kids( or still like) and optimise them as much as possible. They dont turn out to be meta threats, but they make some very interesting games, full of back and forths. And also every deck has its user's identity. It is a very nice way to play.
? That’s still playing the game? What’s with this idea that meta is the only way to play? Genuinely haven’t seen this mindset in any community I’ve been in other than YuGiOh (this is coming from someone who does both play meta sometimes and *mostly* rogue or casual decks)

I'm just saying that I'm not going to go after staples and participate in tournaments, where, at least where I play, people go to win and bring strong decks, so if I bring my fun decks to tournaments, I won't get to play the game, because you know, negates, hand traps, and their board will make sure I don't. I will still make fun decks.

you know... this would be funny if my OTS store didnt pivot to other card games. And if my group of friends didnt bail out on the game entirely. I've been on a 6 year "hiatus" from the TCG and it's been the best decision I've made to date. Sometimes, things you fall in love with just don't love you back or love you as much you love them. Honestly, seeing all the bad decisions Konami’s making, I’m considering just buying a bunch of OCG Cards for the Traditional and Rush Duel versions of the game, and playing it casually with friends

I'm Not willing to quit, because I just pause to play in Formats i don't like 🤷.
Right now i've switched to Lorcana which is kinda refreshing. Simple Game Rules, but very intense Gameplay.
I try to quit yugioh again because im irritated to lose in duel but here iam playing again even though im lazy to play this game everyday!

I was in this loop for a long time. Then I stopped at beginning of Tear format. I could have easily stayed with a floowandereeze deck, but I was tried of being in this constantly repeating cycle of being priced out of the game and having the only deck available be cheap was strategies like flu, burn, etc. that everyone would hate me playing but was the only thing I could consistently afford. Since leaving the game I check and nothing changed, so I don’t at all regret my choices.
How did we go from one of the best formats of tear, rescue ace, unchained, mikanko and purrely to one of the worst formats snake eyes and forward?
It's time I host cardless tournaments at my Arcade and give out cash prizes!
This is why i am thankful to have adopted a casual approach to this game and limit myself to locals.
Play other TCG'S, have time for games, hang out with people, or spend time alone.

I’m on a temporary hiatus not cause of the game but until I find another locals that is close enough since the others are like around 20 or 40 miles away cause of the last locals that I have been going to for a couple years closed down permanently back in March due to a stupid very disappointing decision the owner made that got got cops involved but did nothing about it yet but had a majority of the players that went there to revolt against the owner.
Yugioh players don't have object permeance. People will be like "Yeah this cards not a problem/trash now." Then the banlist knocks out whatevers keeping it in check and they move on to complain about it. Same thing with meta decks. I swear I've seen people be like "Oh thats not meta" because they haven't seen it top anything in months then get bodied by Swordsoul because multiple banishes are still good.
On top of this, they will forget we have bad formats, banlist, etc and act like the games the greatest in the world so long as they are winning. Its all object permeance. Put a piece of paper between Snake Eyes and the community and everyone will love it.
This is very true. Take a look at dimensional barrier, as soon as the best decks don't die to it people forget it should be banned anyway, because it will eventually be broken again.
@@Ragnarok540 I'm waiting on QCR Forbidden Lances to fall out for this reason, nobody gives AF about lance now, but the card will absolutely see side deck play in another format where a similar card just doesn't push the win button the right way.

And the much funnier one is attempting to turn Bakugan Battle Brawlers for the wii into a competitive game, which is really funny since I started doing it as a joke, and yet the game unironically has a lot of potential for skill expression and happens to also be a ton of fun.
