I've been wearing Guerlain Vetiver for forty plus years. It's my one and only scent. Over the years, I have been stopped on the street and asked (by both men and women) the name of the cologne I'm wearing. And one evening in Paris as I was being shown my table, the hostess said "Ah....a gentleman always wears Vetiver."
I have used this since 1972, when I was 18! I love the Extreme and the rare Vetiver l'eau glacée...the most sensual, light but pervasive summer scent ever- for me.So reviving.

Thank you for explaining the history and allure of vetiver! Living in a cooler climate, I never understood the strong attraction of vetiver, given the particular sharpness and endurance it can have. And I certainly did not appreciate the composition of Guerlain Vetiver, which has been in my collection for awhile. Today I will wear it with a much greater appreciation of the composition.
Thats so nice. May I suggest spraying from a far distance away from the neck. One spray should suffice.

Took me 3 full wearings and a solid 6 month break before I really fell in love with it. Impeccable performance even in the current formulation. Never gonna be without it.

Love your videos and knowledge about fragrances. And I agree that Guerlain is probably my favorite fragrance house. Such classics at a decent price. Like some Creed stuff, but the pricing is outrageous.
I finally wore it on skin the other day 😌 . 6 full sprays in my favorite fragrance shop. The citrusy opening was magic. And the dry down lasted over 24 hrs. On my skin. The scent was so pleasant that I would not wear anything over it the next day. I have replaced my signature fragrance Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017 with Guerlains Vetiver and will be buying a bottle soon. I can't imagine how it performs in the heat! And I'm waiting for my Ruh Khus to arrive from Kannauj. It's going to be a wonderful summer.

What a lovely review. I was captivated by Vetiver when I bought some Vetiver Oil in the 1970's. I loved hearing you talk about how Vetiver is used in India. As for Guerlain Vetiver, it's astonishingly good isn't it? Just wonderful, for everyone. It's so crisp and cool and elegant, and yes it lasts such a long time, particularly for EDT. We can get it for under £40 for 100mls in the UK which also makes it fantastic value for money. Thanks again.

Guerlain Vetiver IS delightful but it's more delightful in earlier formulations which are still available to those who care. The EDC version is gorgeous and the 70s and 80s EDTs blow away the wooden capped current version. Worth hunting for vintage!

Hi Dr. Sab, I just wear it today to understand your love about this particular fragrance, I love this but my personal favorite is Habit Rouge. Whenever I wear Habit Rouge I found a new notes from it and it's create such a magic for me. Thank you once again to introduce this wonderful fragrances to me.

Love this transition from Ruh Khus that no other attar can provide. I am yet to try authentic agarwood. But to me Ruh Khus will be always at pinnacle.
Inspired by you I have created my own humble blend of perfume. It has Indian Ruh Khus, Haitian Vetiver, Kenda, Sandalwood and some rose. I have currently left it to mature.
The juice color is darker and quite potent.

4:13 I have seen temperatures in Paris going around 40 degress celcius during day time. It happens during the month of July-August if I am not wrong. So I guess this can serve the purpose during those times. Wonderful review by the way!

I am glad you are still happy with a current formulation Guerlain, because I was disappointed with a recent bottle of L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme EDT, it was just so weak compared to how I remember it when it was released.
I could not agree more with you....I love the hint of smokiness that gives way into the gorgeous drydown. The only Vetiver that comes close - although it is a different iteration of Vetiver with its zesty and bitter orange notes - is the Hermès version of Eau Intense Vetiver...Both of them are marvelous, but to this day I prefer the Guerlain Vetiver to any other Vetiver else. Timeless elegance...

Vetiver for Day/Casual, Habit Rouge for Night/Formal. Both are exceptional in all departments.
Guerlain's technical competence with the difficult ingredients made them stand the test of time. I now need to order this one, even if it's a decant 👍.

A few months ago I was lucky enough to buy a bottle from the 60s sealed without any evaporation. It's fantastic although the vétiver becomes menthol on my skin for some reason I don't know. The first two hours are magical, I love it, then in the drying it loses some magic in my opinion

Sir ek baat kehna chahun ga yahan, vetiver aisi khusboo hai ke agar is se apki yadein juri hon (like you, me and many others) to ye foran attract karta hai apko otherwise haqeeqat hai ke ye aisa note hai ke insan ko achi khaasi fragrance journey ke bad hi samajh aa sakta hai, just a humble opinion from someone who's still learning in his journey, love from Pakistan..

Since then, I've gotten to know ruh khus through watching your videos and I'm now addicted to Vetiver! I think it's time for me to revisit this creation. Could you also do a review of Nishane Sultan Vetiver? It would be great to hear an impression from someone who is experienced with Vetiver such as yourself.
Sure. Its a fine scent too. Jean Paul Guerlain has done justice to the magnificence of Khus I can tell you. The complex transitions of a copper distilled Khus is exactly what this is. I am sure people living in coldee climates will find it a bit much as it will not really open up. Cheers
ok, I found an article and it is from New York times. That article is ancient where it was mentioned that they use cruel methods to obtain the oil, so now I am concerned and debating whether get this perfume or not. I would like to clarify for sure whether they still have to get that oil from those animals even to make civetone which supposed to be synthetic. One article says civetone is synthetic but another says in order to make civetone they still have to have civet's oil.
I hope you do realise all these brands in EU come under strict laws and guidelines laid out by IFRA. They cannot use any animalic products or from endangered plantation. Everything has a synthetic replacement now. Cheers

There is civet in this perfume. It says civet now days synthetically replicated with civetone for ethical reasons. Then when looking into what is civetone it says "Civetone is a macrocyclic ketone and the main odorous constituent of civet oil. It is a pheromone sourced from the African civet." So does it still come from those civet cats' glands? If so, then it is not good. So how do they get that oil? Do they harm civet cats?
That was the classic version. Not this. This one has Tobacco, Oakmoss.

Brother I am sure you can find it at any prominent store. If you cant grab some Ruh Khus from any traditional attar shops. It has more depth than Oud or Sandalwood.

Hey Nikhil, I just got my 200 ml Guerlain Veticer for Rs.4500/- 100% original after watching ur video. I also bought 4 Mancera Kumkat Wood where you compared it with Ormand Jayne. Its so fantastic. I normally blind buy perfumes after yours and Joy Amin's reviews. But Nikhil I still can't understand OUD I wear the lighter ones. But bro how do you personally pull off Oud oils. That skankiness. I also bought attars from S MD AYUB at Mumbai. Can u make a video on how to understand OUD.
Sure I will but it really doesnt matter if you dont like Oud. It's a matter of personal preference. Even I hold Vetiver and Mysore Sandal over Oud.

You need to get Heritage EdT (not the EdP) if you don't have it, you would love it.
When I showed this master piece to my mom she thought that I was joking for the way I was praising the quality of the fragance. She arguing that this one wouldn’t last long enough and smell so poor. 5 hrs later she was telling me that she felt embarrassed for what she said given that the fragance evolve on her skin and she can felt the real quality, one week later I had to get a new bottle for her….
