My quick hit initial thoughts…I don’t want a dinette in a couples camper. It takes up too much real estate and we prefer eating outside anyway. I LOVE the bonus room hidden in the slide…very 007. 😎 And, I am thrilled that the tv/fireplace is actually in front of the seating area instead of beside it or lording overhead it…bad news for chiropractors but great news for the rest of us!

I love the way this is laid out. 100% ditch the dinette, it’s always the worst spot in an RV IMO. Takes up too much space, and it doesn’t even provide comfortable seating/sleeping. Not even the dog likes it! The countertop seating gives you plenty of room to eat, without taking up a ton of space on the floorplan. In fact, I feel like you could chop off a good 3-5 feet on this floor plan without too much trouble. It’d be interesting to see this type of layout on a sub-30’ plan for better national park compatibility. I’d use the hidden room as a nice little office, out of the way so it doesn’t dominate the view in the main space. The AC duct in the hidden room is a massive plus too. I’d keep the medicine cabinet - we always need more storage in the bathroom, so better to have that space even if it pushes into the room a bit.
The window coverage is great, but I would be very concerned about the ability to cool this unit without the secondary AC. In fact, I’m not even sure the second AC will be all that effective. Are double pane windows standard? How’s the insulation? These are important given the potential for heat leakage. I’d almost say cut the windows in half and keep the ratio of windows to camp side vs neighbor side, best of both worlds IMO.
Rack and pinion slide - 100% necessary and I’m glad they did that. I’d be worried about the load capacity if it was something weaker, plus the ability to just nudge the slide out for kitchen access is pretty good.
Lastly, and I can’t believe they’ve done this - SPEAKERS OUTSIDE ARE AT EAR LEVEL INSTEAD OF BLASTING INTO THE NEXT 3 SITES! So many mfg’s get that wrong, nice to see them at the right height!

Wow! I love this! What an original unique floor plan with lots of extras. The windows sold me! I also love that both tv’s are straight across for perfect viewing. I don’t like a traditional dinette so I like this setup, however, I would like some sort of table that could be pulled out in front of the lounger - for multi-uses: meals, snacks, drinks, crafts, or working on my laptop. We would use the bunk room for our expensive mountain bikes and other storage, but also love the bunks when we have guests! Thanks Josh! This one gets my vote.

Wow...wow, wow, wow!! The BEST layout I've seen in a travel trailer hands down! They are finally taking hints from the tiny house market! I hate dinettes. I love how they made the eating area to double as an awesome space to work on a laptop...and they fit it all into the kitchen area, giving the living room its own space! The hidden room is ingenious! They added built-in stair storage like tiny homes use. The bathroom wall is unique and trendy. The look in the bathroom is more like a real home and less like an rv. 😍 With a bed that folds upward and washer/dryer hookups in a relatively small/mid-size travel trailer...I have no words. So impressive! 🤯❤️

A cargo door in the slide-out might be a welcome addition. After all, that's a pretty open space if you tip the bunks up. And I think you could slide a kayak or bikes in there, then close the slide up for travel. Really, that would be an awesome feature to it. And I just want to say that I'm watching the developments on this Forest River Wildwood/Salem brand with fascination. These are the best changes that I've seen in years.
I'd love to see the Wildwood designer do this with the old floorplan from 2010 Keystone Outback Sydney Edition 290RLS that has one door into the camper, but a lovely living room space with rear area living by putting the TV at an angle in the corner and removing the door into the living area. You can have an emergency release window if you need emergency access out. I was trying to grab one of these old ones to remodel, but it sold before I could figure out storage for it. Our current camper space is about 27' long, not 33'. I wonder if that 290RLS could be done small --23RLS and less than 6,000 lbs.. Put a flip down desk on the back wall under the picture window.
Best ideas that I've seen in a long time.

It’s great. Love that someone came up with something totally new. Omitting a booth or table really opens up the space. The breakfast bars makes miles of counter space. Having one leg of the counter flip down makes space. Good for baby's high chair. The hidden room is so fun. Kids would love that. But, the kids are goning to fight over who gets stuck with the mattress on the floor.

I saw this model and met the designer at the Hershey Show yesterday and Josh, I vote Crazy Awesome! They nailed it on the bed, truly awesome job on the windows, and a great prototype on the bunk room in the slideout. Grandchildren would be all over the secret room. How fun is that. Could be used as an office and I wonder if they could flip the bunkroom to make the bunk a bit more functional. Bravo to the design team for this bold adventure.

Love it! All of the windows, and Kitchen is great! So much counter space! I would take out where the stools are in make that cupboards and or storage space. But that's just me. When I go camping with friends we eat outside as much as possible. And friends that have kids also do the same thing. Never did like the dinette and campers anyway they just take up extra room in my opinion for a space that is not really needed. And if you do have to eat inside you can just eat sitting at the couch with some TV trays. Problem solution! And more and more people are going to start getting away from the TV. People have just discovered getting out in nature and camping and getting away from their phones and the TV are the best things for the Body Mind and Spirit. I love the fact that they did not include a TV in this model! Love it! And the hidden room is ingenious!

Perhaps even a little hidden bar with bar fridge in there? Wine cellar? possibilites are endless, and it is about time somebody besides airstream builds a trailer with a ton of windows. I am also loving the versa Tilt bed shown here - it almost solves one of the biggest obstacles (for me) in our current RV and actually most RVs out there. With hip and back difficulties, it is becoming harder to "crawl" my way into our camp queen bed. The wheel well, side cabinets for hanging clothes and overhead cabinets make getting in bed a chore, and don't even get me started on the nightly bathroom visits. I have been following your videos for some kind of a solution so we don't have to make the U Dinette into bed mode. Does anyone know of a model where the main bed is more open?

Nice 'dead or alive' music reference!
Finally, a dedicated 'office' area in a smaller RV that I can use while working on the road. I'm surprised I hadn't thought of this very clever concept. I'm an architect who needs a bit of elbow room for working on the road, and this is a fantastic solution. For me and my wife this would be fantastic, and give us a bit of separation when I am working. I do like the barstool style seating in the kitchen, as we don't usually sit down to eat for more than 10 minutes or so. I would actually remove the bunkhouse stuff, and fashion a workspace and make it a dedicated office. And instead of a huge U-shaped couch area, an option for two dedicated recliners or recliner couch (L-shaped) would be preferable for couples. Bedroom, I'd love to see the dual wardrobe closets shorter in height, and add in an open 'night table' platform above the wardrobe closets, as sleeping without access to a reading light, glass of water, place to stash a phone, etc. is very important. Having that platform at knee height as this trailer has, is not very ergonomic, or convenient and obstructs the one benefit of a true walk around bed. Curious if the slide can handle the weight of stashing two 60lb e-bikes? And, probably need a 2" dedicated hitch receiver on the rear bumper for a bike rack.....

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

I don't care who you are. Your head bops to that song.
I don't suspect that ebike weight would be an issue but I am thinking that -- not KNOWING it. Some of those details are still up in the air on these. Something to consider though is how you'd get the ebikes in there. Might be tricky thru that secret door

We really like this one too! We were already looking in to getting a truck to pull one and then we saw the floor vent literally right in front of the couch and that kind of killed the mood. I don't think we got to see the wet bay on the outside tour, is that also because it's a prototype? The main concern is whether the water hookups are enclosed or not. Also, as for not having kitchen access in road mode, the other half points out that you'd still have access to the outside fridge, so you could just pack your lunch there and take it to sit on the couch when you're at a rest stop. Thanks for another great preview, Uncle Josh! This one has us maaaaaaaaybe reconsidering floor vents.

Josh, We walked through a few new FRs with the versa-bed at the Chantilly Va show. With respect to the Versa-Bed a big miss on all of them is not having dual bed switches. There’s a switch by the door and there needs to be one by the headboard so you don’t have to get out of bed to put it up or down. If you give FR feedback on these please let them know this.

This is nice. First change: The imitation '70s oak parquet flooring must go! I'll pass on the washer/dryer hookups in a travel trailer. As for the hidden bunk room, I think I'd be removing the bunks and using it exclusively for storage and office. And, I think tankless water heaters are a must. I have one at home...

I like the versa tilt bed and the windowsin the bedroom. Washer dryer hookup makes this much more versatile. I like the camp side windows. I like the counter top dining. The hidden room I am on the fence. Makes the unit narrower, and opening up the space is really nice. If the slide had exterior access then it would be better for storage of long items.

This would be awesome for remote work. A little DIY for a better desk where the steps to the bunk are would do it. Is there a power tower behind the Life is better at the lake sign? If not there should be for plugging in devices and small appliances. They included a bed that's not a throw away? LED lighting behind the medicine cabinet would be awesome. For the amount of space 35' is pretty amazing. Window coverage (that you can actually open for a breeze) is awesome. Ladder above the bedroom would work. This is definitely a thumbs up.

I love this so much!! A kitchen I can really cook in! An office/spare bedroom! All the cool storage! The tilting bed! The space for the dogs! The curvy wall!! The not-a-radius shower!! I have zero use for a dinette, so I’m more than happy to have the kitchen seating as it is. Could a small rolling office chair fit in the extra room? I don’t like the seating, I’d rather see one of those long theatre sofas where the middle section folds down to make 2 recliners. With that exception, this is ideal for us, because I’m okay with yeeting myself over that counter. Thanks Nerd!

Seriously considering this as a (mostly) stationary solo full timer with a dog and 3 cats. I currently have a GD Imagine 3170BH and use the bunkhouse for the dog kennel and animal supplies, but absolutely love the idea of using the slide bunk room instead and giving myself that extra kitchen and living space. Hoping this will be at Hershey RV show to actually set foot in!

Great tour Josh! Like that the bunk room has its own door and not have to pull the whole entertqinment center out to access it like in the "Wildwood", who has a similar floorplan. Parquet flooring is new and different. Like the spacious bathroom sink area. Dont like all the windows. Lets in too much heat and cold. Kitchen needs turned around and add more storage. Love the look of the outside of the 2025 models. Like star wars space shuttles. Dig it! Lol

love this unit. we are planning on going full time in two years the office space is a major want. the dinette desk stuff doesn't cut it. going into the office and shutting the door makes going to work more conducive to working. I want this in a class a or super c. I also really like an emergency door rather than falling out a window. as I retire, I'm going to need to quit jumping out windows.

Home schoolers would love the way the kitchen is laid out. I wouldn't be bothered about the dinette, there's plenty of sofa space for a family with 2 kids. If anything I'd add a flip up counter at the end, next to the sink, because if the kids are using the space of someone is working from home there, it would be more flexible. People can always get some tray/tables if they're bothered.

My first impressions are very favorable. Especially if your camping someplace with nice views all those windows could be awesome. The kitchen looks like a great place to cook with all that counter space. The use of space in the trailer is really innovative. I especially. Love that they give you all those totes etc to store stuff. Very cool. Love the tilt up bed.
Concerns. Like you I wonder how this will do on a hot day in direct sun even with two ACs. I’d really like to know the answer to that question. Maybe that second AC really should be a 15k not a 13.5k. And even with the dedicated vent I wonder about the bunkroom. I also wonder how comfortable the sofa is. Only one way to find out and that’s to sit on it.
Nits. Just install proper drawers next to the stove. Having to open the door to get to a drawer is just needless. There didn’t seem to be a reinforced place to mount the TV judging off the back side from the bunkroom. Open up the space above the microwave. I’d also like to see a small raised lip along the back of the counter next to the sofa in case you have a spill to contain it. I also don’t like having to open a door to get to the door handle for the bunk room. It would also be interesting to see if you can get bikes into the bunk room for storage during transit. If so a couple of tie down rings would be nice. And for crying out loud put a full size door on the drivers side pass through. That little one is seriously annoying. Finally how about an included fold away table for the couch area?
All in all well done Salem. I’ll definitely be looking for these at the next RV show.

I love the way they did the bunks total winner, I thought they could make the couch shorter and make it work for a bar seat at the sink area to allow for more storage in the kitchen. The toilet needs to be porcelain also. I am also not a fan of the wood frame it could be a lighter Rv if they used aluminum. Definitely needs more kitchen storage before I commit. Great direction on the bunks though.

Thanks for the review. Great concept. Biggest huddle I see is the sink placement. When I do dishes the water flies. The backsplash for this sink are the cushions for the sectional. Those are going to be wet and stained in no time. They'll need to figure out something else for a backsplash.

Great concept! There needs to be a bit more focus on outdoor storage. I'd also add that the Salem/Wildwood units aren't know for their high end quality fit and finish along with better quality parts and pieces like, say, a Grand Design would offer. This would be more applicable to full timers. But I do like the out of the box thinking! And I like the idea of catering more to couples only (that slide would have a doggie door in it and would be our pups space along with the office! Any chance any of the View models will be at Hershey? Josh, will you be there? I know Matt from the 'other' channel will be, but I prefer your style to his! Thanks for the videos!
