Now that the CRT says you can cruise a bit and the 14 day restriction etc has been reimposed...will you have to leave your mooring?? And then there is the Daisy the Duck. If you don't have to move the "live aboard" boat perhaps you could make a ramp from the boat down to the water where it would float. That is what my friend did. They used a plastic floaty pool thing (LOL), attached it to the side of the pool and then let the other end float on the water?? The little guys seem to love it. It occurs to me that they wont all be able to live in that tub....seriously Daisy what were you thinking.

Probably the most engaging tubing channel on narrow boating life. Your style is excellent. I understand your fears of filming in public. If those chimney coolers are at Ratcliffe-on-Sour, my narrowboat will be built very near there at the end of the year. I'm so looking forward to it. I hope the cafe works for you and well done for doing your own fit-out. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler!

I think that was a British Rail Class 55 Deltic locomotive. It's an heritage loco-- notice it wasn't in service. The appellation "deltic" comes from the triangular arrangement of the engine's cylinders.

This is a great project for you, congratulations on your tenacity. Many years ago I tried something similar on a popular whitewater river. I filled my raft with ice chests of water, soda, and pre-made (by me) sandwiches all fresh and rowed the river every weekend in summer and sold (had a restaurant license) to hungry thirsty folks both on the boats and those who lined the river banks....great fun for me and a chance to expand my business in the summer. Good luck to you.

Thank you, Joanna and Victor, or is it Jo and Vic? Thanks anyway for such an interesting look at life in and around the canal. That Farm Shop looks great with all that yummy local produce. I have heard a lot about the camaraderie and bonhomie of the canal folks and getting chocolate cake and fresh Mint is such a treat. Thinking about "Holly" and the tasks you have taken one. At some time could we please have a back story video? What you used to do and how you fitted your 5 years of cruising with your jobs. How much experience you have in running a cafe and food service. What "Holly" looked like before you began to work on her. Do you have any shots of the day you first saw her? Why was she so derelict that they even took out the floor, walls and ceilings? Will you be lifting her out and blacking before you start your travelling coffee business?
Some more suggestions for good Vlogs if you are not already watching them: "Narrowboat Chef" - they are both well-experienced chefs who have worked in big hotels and restaurants around the world even though they both come from Australia. Their cooking segments are interleaved with their cruising segments - when cruising comes back.
Another good one is "Cruising the Cut" with David. He has now built up to 135K subscribers and he does some lovely videos.
Also, check out the lovely ladies at "The Narrowboat Experience". They are such lovely people and they do great videos.
Take care, Stay Safe and please keep us informed about the progress of Jemina and her eggs,

Good luck with your venture. I had a similar task when I introduced a coffee shop in a book store I had purchased some years ago. This was in the USA and I am sure the building/ fire regs and health department would have made it impossible to install on a narrow boat. What are the permitting rules in the UK? Here all public access buildings/structures must be wheel chair accessible, have wheel chair access bathroom. fire alarm systems and a food prep/ service layout approved by the health, building and fire departments. The Health Dept rules require a t least 7 ( yes seven) sinks, food service certified refregeratoon etc. You couldn:t fit that on a narrow boat, . What are yout rules and inspection regime?

    • @HollyTheCafeBoat
      @HollyTheCafeBoat  4 года назад

Hi Paul, thanks for commenting. That sounds quite nightmarish, and must be off putting for anyone wanting to start up a little coffee business! Here there are quite a few hoops to jump though, we need a special boat license, there's a different standard of boat safety certificate we need as well as Environmental Health and Safety guidelines to adhere to. We'll make a video about it soon (if we can manage tomato all that red tape interesting! :-) Do you still have the bookstore and coffee shop? Thanks for watching!

You guys need a little trailer for your bikes, much safer.

A lot of projects like this fail simply because people give up. They don't plan their project and split it up into "bite sized chunks" so it all gets on top of them. I used to be a yacht designer of sorts so have seen many projects fail and many succeed. You two seem to have "the right stuff" and my guess is that you will make it. I don't think you have a lot of choice with several thousand people watching!! Only joking!

Hi chevyimp! Our jobs were based in London so we’ve been stuck to the canals and rivers around there for the last 4 years but now we’re working on the cafe boat we plan to move around the network a lot more. Thanks for watching 😊

13:50 ish - a 'Deltic' - you don't see many of those around anymore...
2nd'ly - I'm a professional Canoe Instructor/Guide and I'd like to hear a bit more on the Why, How etc of your pretty decent skills you've acquired...
3rd'ly - been sorta binge watching and catching up on your story - very entertaining and look forward to more.

Sry to say the filming is pretty bad and the sound is worse, A bit better quality and I would watch.
Keep practicing and you'll do good eventually.
