  • Hello fans of Pauls Outdoor Academy. It is time for my 2-year review of my boat. Would I recommend it to you? Am I still happy with the purchase? Watch the video and let's find out. :) Thank you for watching.
    You may notice my electronics have been upgraded. I will cover that in another video so I can do a thorough job.

      I am going to put a different axle on it as soon as I pay for some other items. It is a 2500 pound axle and the weight of the boat alone when fully loaded with me and my gear is right at that weight. I need to go 3500 pound axle and be done with it.

    I own this same boat but its a 2017 I got in 2016. I havent had any of the trailer issues you are having. On occasion I do have difficulty with the plug, im going to try your method.

      Hi Martin! I was SUPER frustrated because it sometimes took me as much as 5 minutes before I could get it on correctly. Now that I have this new method, it takes me seconds. Thank you for your comments.

    My 2 yrs old Ranger trailer has been nothing but solid! Sorry you are having problems with yours. I would probably look into a new trailer. Trailer quality is so important considering thats what carrying your investment around.

      Hey ddm62571 - thank you for your comments. I totally agree and I am amazed when I tell people I think my trailer is undersized. They are like, no big deal. I am like, hmmm well it is carrying 40,000 worth of both, so it is a big deal, ahahahhaha.
      I debated on just the axle being upgraded and will still go that route most likely. Thanks again for your comments, I really do appreciate them.

      That is great to hear. I am doing the 3 year review very soon. For the replacement. It took 1 year but the dealer was able to get Triton to send the new one. Wanna know what stinks? New one is already ripped terribly. I will have custom seat covers made when I can afford it. I hope that isn’t typical for Triton. So far still very happy!!

    I wish I would have added this to this video. Many of you may wonder how I know I am really close to the max weight on this trailer. It didn't make the final video, but I did discuss it. There is a landfill near me, and they have really good scales. I took my truck and boat (with the boat loaded) to them and they weighed both at the same time. Then, I parked the boat and went back across the scale. The difference was around 2600 pounds, roughly. This is within 50 pounds of the max trailer weight. The easy thing to do is put a heavier trailer axle on this baby. :)

    You know,,, I wonder what triton would say about this to their trailer manufacturer? They should really do something about that trailer axle. Minimal trailer axle for such a nice boat.

    • @PaulsOutdoorAcademy
      @PaulsOutdoorAcademy  3 года назад

      The good news is that Marine Master Trailers is located within a few hours of where I live. The bad news is that it will cost me 400 and some gas to go get the better axle. I actually increased my insurance on the boat because I am concerned it is going to completely snap some day and cause a bad problem. YIKERS.
      Great point about Triton. This company sells trailers to them apparently, alone with many other major brands. They must have something good about them. I just feel they are underrating the weight of these aluminum boats when they are loaded.

    What dash mount are you using for your console graph?

    • @PaulsOutdoorAcademy
      @PaulsOutdoorAcademy  2 года назад

      I purchased my graphs from Hennessy Electronics in Dayton, TN. They had these custom brackets for around 100 from what I recall. They are really good as far as I am concerned and allow for quite a bit of flexibility in mounting your unit. Mine is the 15 inch and it holds it perfect. Hope this helps. If you want more pics please let me know and I will send them.

    their trailers are junk..same with the ranger aluminum boats, my buddies trailer is actually folding inward like yours, we had to cut off his side bunks because they started to hit the side of boat and rub paint!!! throw that trailer away and go get a galvanized one with a better axel!!!

      I hate to say it, but I tend to agree with you. Paint chipping all over the place in 2 years time. Of course, it was actually chipping prior to the one year mark. There are several complaints I have, but primarily, they are selling a trailer with the boat which is undersized for the weight of the boat. :) Thank you for commenting and yes, different trailer, or at least different axle is coming up. :)

      No worries. I think I understand what you are saying. For what you pay for these boats these days you would think they would be top notch, but the reality is the boat I purchased is not much more than an entry-level bass boat. I still expected more from the trailer, but so far it has held up fine with no issues. Thank you for your comments

      Too expensive for this man. :) When I pass the Ranger RT series boat on the water, we look at each other as if in a mirror. They look incredibly similar. They did offer the 150 HP Merc package in the RT series, but it was more than I wanted to spend at the time.
