If it helps anyone, 한국말/한국어 못해요 literally means “I Korean language Can’t do”, but since “말” is the word for language, it is implied that “I can’t do the korean language”, which is the exact same as “I can’t do the language of Korean”, which obviously means “I can’t speak Korean”.
Bit long winded but might help someone idk, because you don’t say “speak” necessarily in Korean, the translation for “to speak” is 말하다, which you can see is the two words “language” and “to do” linked together. That’s why they say it like this.

      @geoffbits6773 4 года назад +4

Thanks for this! I actually just learned the word 말하다 this week, and since I already know the word 하다, I was wondering what does the word 말 mean. Now I learned something from you, thanks! 😉

안녕하세요 크리스토퍼입니다. Thank you for breaking the words down and explaining what each part means in Korean. I've desperately been looking for lessons that do this.
    I subbed for this. 😁
I'm going to make my dream come true and move to South Korea so I want to be considered a part of society as much as possible and I know that is very hard to earn in South Korea.
I want to learn and understand Korean from a Korean point of view because I don't want to learn to translate in my head I want to learn to think in Korean in the first place. I hope if I learn like this I will be able to communicate on a deeper level and be able to understand on a deeper level.
For example don't tell me 안녕하세요 means Hello. It really doesn't.
Teach me 안녕 means "peace" and 하세요 means "do" and the 요 part makes it respectful. So 안녕하세요 means literally "peace do" with respect and since I am taking to you the "I" and "you" are presumed. So in all the idea is "I do peace to you" and I'm being respectful and that is a way of greeting someone.
There ya go a nice quick, but good lesson. 😆
I definitely hope to fall so deep in love that she and I both glow when I get there and that can require some deep conversations with a lot of understanding. lol
I lol, but I really do.
Again, this was such a great lesson. 감사합니다!
    안녕!

My roommate in my rehab hospital is a 100 year old Korean woman. Having Google and Yahoo has given me a few words and phrases I can use (sadly, with a bad accent); like eat, sleep, careful. Sometimes this has her standing by my bed, chattering away. I think it frustrates her that she can't converse with someone. There are no staff here that speaks Korean, and her family only visit a couple of hours a couple times a month.
So, thank you this channel, it has been a Good Send. Between this channel and Google she has been kept safe (Grandma likes to get up and wander onto the floor, but she walks a bit like a question mark (❓) and sometimes trips on the gem of her too big, and too loose bottoms (I usually say "josimseuleoun halmeoni!"; and then alert the nursing staff but yelling "Grandma Alert!".

I really appreciate learning korean with your videos! Thank you so much ❤️
But, I want to ask you something, I know french people who want to learn korean but they don’t understand English so is it possible to add substitles on your videos?? I see it on another channel and it could be nice if people add substitles in their own languages

I not sure what is the different between haeyo and layo, but they seem to be able to inter exchange well?
(BTW I think u covered this phase in your 10 must-know korean for tourist video before)
