Super DodgeBall Arcade Completed

- Cleared it once, then timed out to the Americans second time through. No idea how many times you can clear it.
Basic strategy is keep your big guy alive, let the little ones die, corner the relief players the computer has when they come on the screen (I do a bad job of this), and steal the ball whenever you can.
Fairly good arcade game, I dont speak Japanese, but is that really "Nintendo" the guy says when doing a normal jump throw?
Game was released in 1987.
We used to skip school to hit the arcade and play this.....what awesome memories
Man I used to LOVE this game.
Same here...i knew ur age🖖🤟...lol
@@versanlin6942they had this at the corner store by my house in 1989 😆✨
This game feels so different compared to the NES one
omg so many quarters..so damn many quarters!
I heard that!! Africa pissed me off sooooo much! Although I admit initially Iceland was the REAL piss off with the slippery floor...
On later stages like China and Africa where the teams get two reserve players AND they play much better, running out of time is a big risk. The trick to really controlling this game - which I very rarely see in gameplay videos - is to eliminate an opponent (usually a small one), get the ball back and then pass to your lower defender. The lower defender positions right where the opposing team's reserve player enters (about an inch or two right of the center line) and hits him as he comes in, and keeps knocking him down when he gets up until he's eliminated. There's only a few seconds to do this and it's a bit risky since ideally you want the catcher on the bottom half of the field and closer to the goal line, and if the opponent throws a special, you're going to get hit.
Basically, if you're on China, Africa or Japan (US version - Japan is the last stage) and you lose your big man early, taking out oncoming players is your only chance of winning before time runs out.
Same technique can often be used when an opponent takes a hard shot and rolls out of the playfield. Pass to the nearest defender. The opponent will always run back on field and then stop to catch his breath, and you can nail him. Aiming is a bit tricky, though, and it's not uncommon for the game to decide you were aiming at god-knows-what even though the opposing player is at point blank range.
So this is why the NES version has so much flicker, the title screen has so much shading, and the soundtrack sounds high quality, they tried to make it so similar to this arcade version that too many colors were on screen at once but the music sounds good.
This was in my small town pizza hut. Many quarters lost on Saturday nights.
0:11 Tokyo, Japan
1:03 London, England
3:10 Reikiavik, Iceland
4:44 Beijing, China
7:05 Cape Town, South Africa
10:07 New York, U.S.A.
I remember very well playing this game in 1987.
Sooooo much skipped classes when I beat a team...
The music, the head styles, the sound when the guys die…. So many similarities to Double Dragon 😆✨✨✨
Wow, the U.S. NES version was different...You start as one of two North American teams against the other North American team, and then you play several different countries (Japan included) to face off against the Soviet Union at the end...only to face your evil shadow doubles at the very end of the hard mode if you can beat the Soviets. So many different flavors of propaganda.
Dude, I was like 8 or 9 and my older cousins had this and the cool thigh during thanksgiving was to come to cousin Johnnies room and play this shit. I got it on an emulator now and still love it. Flawless game
Actually this is pretty spot on. I attended a dodgeball school from K-12. Rival schools would and did attack us sometimes.... and defending our honor was necessary. We were also limited to one “big guy”.
I see
@@crimsontide1980 yes.
@@deoglemnaco7025 for sure
I had no idea there was an arcade version of this

Omg I swear that bit in the music was inspired by a Hard days night by the Beatles
This was an awesome game.
They need to remake this game.
Awesome game!
You can also pass the ball to your little guy at the bottom of the screen to take out the add-on players. The opponent will walk right through him and you can't miss.
Good tip!!! Thx

Imagine seeing someone really do that in dodgeball 😆😆🤣
btw the little guys could throw the speed ball..but it wasnt a given like it was the big guy. a least thats how it was on the unit i played on..i think it was meant for American players.
the guy said "namennayo! " means do not look down on me!
That's AWESOME! And hilarious!
I really like this, can I download this as a MP4 for offline watching, please?
Sakura sakura🖤
0:32 - That's Piston Honda's music from Mike Tyson's Punchout!
I was TODAY years old when I read a comment that made me realize this. Lol
Wrong, its the folk song of sakura
The opposing team on stage 5 looks a little too "blonde" for "Africa", maybe they're all high yellows :)
Also: Africa is not a country. It's a motherfucking continent.
But, how does system determine if a character catches the incoming ball or being hit by the incoming ball?
Childhood 🤘
Does Iceland have the Penguin Adventure penguins?
Can you plsssss explain me how you throw those powerfull jumpthrows??? :( I can do it 1 time a game if i lucky. 00:23
MineMachineCraft You need to throw the ball at the peak of the jump.
L
Sounds more like "Final" imo.
I never saw this game!
I just hate the arcade version due to the unfairness of the enemy AI. You can only perform a super shot both in mid air and ground via running unlike in the arcade where you only perform *ONLY* in mid air and you couldn't catch the incoming powerful enemy super shots that it immediately kills you.
I miss this game, is there some where I can play this?
If you still interested, check out fightcade.com
You can download it as an arcade archive classic on PlayStation Network if you have a PS4
how do you do the super ball? is it kinda random? 🤔
Love the "Oh shit" look on the little guy's face when the big guy dodges the ball @12:09
😳🤣
Why do the dodgeball players walk on the taxiway to get onto their plane???
It was the 80's... 😁😁😁
They were doing jogging to reach the plane after they went through the gate 😂
Because they are royalty. They can bypass TSA etc. it’s imperative they make that plane.
I want this game .i need the link for playing game please
You can go to wowroms.com to download it onto your Mame emulator.
I never heard of this game, but it looks like it was made by the designers of River City Ransom.
That’s because it was, same devs and company
What is this version called?
How can I find this version of the game? Is it Arcade or SNES?
nevermind found it a long time ago already
Hola quien me puede dar el link de descarga de este juego
Definitely does sound like "nintendo"
Warlord Mal No, sounds like Technos.
"Namennayo"
How do you do that charge jump shot with the big guy?
Its a timing thing, you have to run with the big guy then try to throw the ball at the peak of his jump, which is why you see me fail a lot of doing it.
It's three steps running, then jump and throw at the peak of the jump. Same as the NES version, but it doesn't sound like you have any audio cues here like in the NES version.
The NES version allowed a speed throw for both running 3 steps and running 3 steps then jumping, and it was different for each, which was cool.
0:20 *BLEH*
Only reasons why I came here:
1) Iceland theme
2) "Bleh!"
Up next:
South Park Cows 🐮!

PS4 PSN network...
I'm pretty sure this is some sort of mod'ed version or a sequel. The transition screens between levels are different and the big guy doesn't make that sound on regular jump throws. (I don't think it was 'nintendo' this is a taito game) On the regular one you start in the US and the last stage is Japan. When you get to Japan, all the opponents are big guys. If you don't take out their spare players as they walk onto the field, it's nearly impossible to win without time running out.
This is just the japanese version of the game
something about this game that I didn't like
one major downside was the lack of any special attacks like the nes port
@@_Majoras That's because it wasn't shown off in video properly but there were instances were the player did special attacks.
NES version 20x better
It's a Technos game. They're always poorly programmed with slowdown and choppiness galore, but at least this isn't as poorly programmed as the NES game
I love how they copied Beatles songs
9:18 迷プレー直後の珍プレー!
ほんで外野にパスせえっての~。 時間切れ負けしたやないの。
下手くそプレー
The music from "New York, U.S.A" always reminded me of a 70's porn theme, even as a kid!💋🤣
LOL!!!😂🤣😂
@@matthewjames2015 I always thought it had a catchy, disco kind of sound to it. Throw in a reel of John Holmes or Ron Burgundy and you've got one hell of a good combo! 🤩
