I got the grip puppies, hand guards, some aluminum shorty adjustable calipers, a 12v accessories plug, engine guard, radiator guard, bash plate, new windshield, top box and soft side bags, and now I need better foot pegs and tires. I bought an electrical block but haven't installed it yet. I'm still rolling on the Pirelli Scorpion tires...
Nice set up. Judging from your videos you aren't afraid to take it anywhere. Nice to see these bikes get used the way the should be. Big Bear sounds like fun.
I have the same bike. I purchased it new in November 2015, got a great price. I am ashamed to say I have only 1,000 miles on it as of August 2018. I have a Honda trunk and a CalSci windshield. My fave trip is Azusa to Santa Barbara and back. I leave at 530am and get back around 9am.Bbig Bear is my second favorite ride. I enjoyed your video!!
Hey thanks! I appreciate your comment! Don't be ashamed. I haven't gotten many miles as well. Priorities change but I do plan on planning some road trips and start upload more.
Thanks for the video! I have been looking for just a simple overview like this for ages. One suggestion for future videos- the background music is good but that little ramp up noise is a bit distracting
I have the same bike and just put tkc80's on front & back. It really changed the bike. I'm down in Encinitas and Big Bear is on my list to check out soon. Looking forward to seeing how it goes for you. Cheers.
Hey thanks for checking out my channel. We should plan a meet up. Once it's cooler, I've been wanting to check out Anza Borrego and the Salton Sea down your way.
That'd be cool. I can't always break free for longer rides (wife & kids) but every once in a while I can make it happen. Let me know of any rides you plan on doing around here and I'll see what I can do.
Hey man thanks for the video its super helpful. I wanted to add some feedback to your video as well: I felt that the music was a little too loud and made it harder to concentrate! Anyway thanks for your help and i look forward to videos in the future
Love that vid! Very informative. Looking forward to buy it. You say it's capable of some offroad without the Rally Raid Kit. How far would you go? Is it also capable of some advanced offroad? I don't mean rushing through the forest, but just some interesting trails.
The biggest issue you'll have with the bike is the ground clearance. That's why I recommend the Rally Raid bash plates. I've bottomed out the bike over several rock and have put some decent dents into it. Since in stock for it has limited ground clearance, it'll allow you to slide over rocks. The important thing is to know you and your bikes limits. I'm no advance rider but I have gone through some decent rock gardens with picking good lines.
Nice one1 I have the same bike, have done 56000Km on it. I have been doing a lot of dirt road riding but cannot afford the RR kit as I'm currently unemployed, also I dearly want to keep my centre stand and, so far, cannot find a bash plate that will let me keep it without some modification.
The RR is something I want but pricey. The center stand for me wasnt too big of a deal. I could tip it on its side or use a trail stand to get the rear wheel up if I need to. So far the bike has done everything Ive wanted so I'm happy even without the RR kit. Doesnt mean I dont want it though lol :)
Also I have the rally raid bashplate and mine vibrates at mid to high RPM . I have tried everything and I'm about to pitch it. Did you have any of that ? And if so what did you do to stop it. Thanks for the video. Also glad to see that you do ride your bike. I have the the Rally Raid level 1 . I'm a shrimp so I didn't go for the level 3 . I hope to be well enough in 2021 to ride more and if so it will be dirty more than not like yours. Glad your having fun.
Hey Marshall. Thanks for the comment. I haven't had any issues with vibrations after installing my bash plate. Are you tightening it to the correct torque spec?
I know a dealership that has a leftover 2015 for $3999 new. So a used one for $4500 would be silly. Hell, my local Honda shop is selling a 2016 for $4700 new.
hey quick question noticed you switched to the tkc80 noticed these are tubeless. wondering how you installed them vs traditional tubes? prob a dumb question but wouldnt it leak air out since its tubeless if you try to mount it the same way as a tubeless?
No dumb question. We all have to start somewhere right. :) I'm not sure what the engineering is behind it but no leaks. It's a casted wheel so unlike spokes, there isnt a place where the air can leak from. I also believe it's the design of the wheel and the tires bead that makes a solid seal.
I’m leaning towards getting this bike. Are you happy you bought yours? I want to commute some, but also hits some dirt. I just sold my drz400, because it just wasn’t that comfortable at highway speeds.
I love mine! I rode it from Orange County, CA to Zion National Park in Utah which is about 1000 miles round trip. I had no issues at all and didn't feel like I needed more power. Commuting is wonderful. It's smooth and nimble.
Love the mods man! How do you like that Givi screen? Any buffeting or turbulence issues? I've been going back and forth between the Givi and the CalSci one. Leaning towards the Givi due to the price.
I really liked my Givi. I no longer have it due to it smashing into my face when a huge dip appeared out on the trail lol. Something to consider as well is getting the 2016 OEM windscreen. You may have to bend the mounting brackets a bit to get them to fit but from what I heard on the forum, people enjoy it. Also I think it's like $50. I'm currently back with the short OEM one but if I do upgrade it'll probably be the 2016 OEM windscreen. Also as for buffeting, check out my other video on adding spacers to help eliminate it. Thanks!
ADVBandit Ouch! So I actually have a 16' CB500X, so I have the updated windscreen. I'm 5'10" and I get pretty bad turbulence above 55mph :/ Ear plugs help, but still is pretty awful at highway speeds.
Try this: ruclips.net/video/dHvOTxcFTtc/видео.html It's only a few bucks, see if that helps and alleviates the turbulence. Also as someone suggested in one of the comments below, maybe drilling the holes so they are a little more oblong so it doesn't stress the windshield.
I'm looking to get back into riding after 10 years out since bad wreck. I guess my age has changed my tastes since I wont be getting another R6. I think the 500s Honda is putting out are the best beginner bikes out there. Would you recommend getting the 500x and ride it for awhile stock or jump in and get the Rally Raid setup right away?
Thanks for checking out the channel! I am currently running a stock bike besides what you see in this video. So far it's done everything I've wanted to do in my riding ability and maybe just a little bit more than it should. By all means I'm not advance rider. More like a weekend warrior. :) Here's my .02. If you can find a decently priced used CB500x, pick it up and use the difference that you would have paid and get the RR kit. Or if you want to save cash, just ride the bike as is, and if you feel like you'll be riding harder roads/trails more often, then do the kit. If not, then enjoy the bike as is with knobbie tires and a solid engine guard.
Otr Adventures can't going wrong with that! Thanks for the sub. I'm hoping to be putting out some videos soon. Last several months have been crazy busy. Let me know if you pick one up!
All right, thanks for the quick response. Just watched your Big Bear video, I feel your pain with a heavy bike on rough trails. I don't miss my F800GS at ALL lol.
Haha it's not too bad. I'm actually planning to go up Saturday. If all goes well, I want to ride from Big Bear to Pioneertown. We'll see though...I've been busy with work and classes, I haven't had time to hop on the trails. Hopefully I'll get some good stuff and post a video soon.
Brian Cooper I would guess, from some members on the forums, around 3-4k miles. If strickly road, I would stick with something similar to the stock set up. Even with stock, I've taken it on some dirt roads. Just know your limitations.

Dude that is all you need! Get at it and have fun!

+Jesse Jordan I feel ya. Im starting a new semester so its going to be hard from me to get out and ride along with uploading videos.
Hey man thanks for the video its super helpful. I wanted to add some feedback to your video as well: I felt that the music was a little too loud and made it harder to concentrate! Anyway thanks for your help and i look forward to videos in the future

Good video and a great bike. Have not picked up mine yet. Still overseas, but I am really interested in the RR3 conversion. Are you thinking about it?
Definitely on my to-do list. I even read just upgrading with the level 1B kit is a big difference.
Good video. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for checking out the video!
Nice vid! Any info on the seat cover? I can see there is something on, and I'm looking to improve comfort for longer rides.

Just watched that! I may give that a try before ordering a new screen. Thanks again man. Looking forward to future vids!
Yea no problem. Let me know how it works. Thanks for the subscribe.
I kept waiting for Mario brothers to come into frame.
Nice set, but you need to show more enthusiasm, you have an awesome bike!
Hahaha I know I know...I was thinking the same thing. I'll keep that in mind for my future videos. Thanks!
+ADVBandit hahaha I was just messing with you. subscribed. success and great rides!
:) Thanks for subscribing!

Makes sense to stay stock until I reach its limits. Subscribed looking forward to seeing how your bike evolves.
Otr Adventures can't going wrong with that! Thanks for the sub. I'm hoping to be putting out some videos soon. Last several months have been crazy busy. Let me know if you pick one up!
Good video. Would consider background music choice for vids though.
Hi bandit just wondering how tall you are and how you find the weight of the cbx. Thinking of one for the wife.👍?
I am 5'6" with an inseam of 30. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the video but ditch the music.
I appreciate the feedback! Ride safe!
I'm looking at this bike to do commute duties, what kind of tank range are you getting?
I average about 60mph and being that the bike has a 4.9g tank, you can get about 250+/-. Of course YMMV. You should have no issues with commuting.
All right, thanks for the quick response. Just watched your Big Bear video, I feel your pain with a heavy bike on rough trails. I don't miss my F800GS at ALL lol.

Any mods done to the suspension? Or did you throw the 50/50 tires with nothing else done?
Chad Hammer no suspension mods. I just threw on some 50/50 tires. It did pretty well on some deep sand when I did some of LAB2V ride.
How do those tires perform on the street vs the stock ones?
I haven't had any issues with the tires on street.
How many miles do you get on pavement do you think if just riding pavement?
Brian Cooper I would guess, from some members on the forums, around 3-4k miles. If strickly road, I would stick with something similar to the stock set up. Even with stock, I've taken it on some dirt roads. Just know your limitations.
are those tires on the factory rims ?
Yes they are!
Thumbs down,,,, it's the music.
