I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but this scene is actually the updated scene. They added the Alphinaud part of him trying to heal Haurchefant just to further drive the point home that Haurchefant was beyond saving.
As heart wrenching as it was to watch Hauchefant die from his wound seeing his father, the always stalwart Count Edmond, break down in tears is what gets me. And with the passing of his voice actor we lost a legend.
When I got to this part, my poor friend was on voice with me. I went through all five stages of grief in five minutes, then sobbed for five more after, and even more after Count Edmont's scene. I charged Zephirin the instant I got a chance in the raid. He laughed as I strung curses together in new creative ways, just focusing on that one enemy.
Fun fact, since he was a paladin, back in the heavensward days paladins were unable to block against magical damage (the spear) and only block/parry physical damage, thus why I go with this logic when I watch this
Expanding on this, apparently at that time, if you hover the mouse over the healing debuff the spear gives you, instead of something like "hearling received is reduced" the tooltip said "There was nothing you could have done."
I'm sitting here watching this and the scene is different. I can't believe they actually went back and updated the scene to fit with the trust system being added. Now I need to find out what other things did they alter.
Missed out on this stream and never saw your reaction, i just ran the vault for the first time today and it definitely hurt and i cried. I miss our friend Haurchefant.
The hardest part about watching your reaction was seeing all positivity just drain from your face the second you saw his shield crack. It was the same for me too.
I cried much the same as you!! I am sorry but also, happy to have another one with us here, remembering and criying for him. It's been only 3 weeks for me, I am going through stormblood right now but I still feel empty and so not over this.....I hope I will be one day, as does my WoL I suppose, but he ....he will be oir, always!!! I never thought to get so attached to any fictional character, but I guess that is the beauty of this game. Thanks for sharing. I was never much into streaming or watching streamers until this game butnow....I get it, might try to stream myself, just so I can share with other as well 😊
After this, it's small wonder that in canon the WoL 1v12d the Thordan and his Heavensward. It's one of the few times the WoL is genuinely consumed with a desire for vengeance that pushes them to greater heights.
I still cry every time I see this scene, especially when Count Edmont breaks down. I sobbed so hard the first time I played it. I'm sure you've already done it, but for any other sprouts who haven't yet, do the quest series that starts with the House Fortemps Manservant called "The Paths We Walk." It's definitely worth it.
"Dont worry I will save you~!" **runs and puts up shield** "Oh shit, I forgot, PLD is terrible at blocking magical damage." **shield buckles and gets impaled my magic missile**
I believe it was added with the Duty Support stuff they added for the HW dungeons in 6.2. They made some other little changes to the cutscenes before/after the HW dungeons too.
@@spac3monkey3000 It was! In particular, it's because now that Duty Support is there, Alphinaud is there as a healer, so to avoid "why isn't Alphinaud here and healing him", they inserted that.
Yeah it is. They put it in to show that Haurchefaunt really was beyond saving. Cause a bunch of ppl were talking about their WoL not healing him even if they ran the vault as a healer. Also put it in so ppl could understand that healers can’t heal all wounds especially if they’re too grievous.
This was the moment that I realize FFXIV is not messing around, I thought it was gonna be typical FF story that usually no character dies but they made sure you felt some character development and get you invested then they take them away from you.
Should go do the Dragonsong Ultimate when you are done Heavensward. Or at least watch a video of it. I don't want to spoil the events of it, so am going to leave it there.
A smile better suits a hero..
"Do not despair, you are not without allies."
Damn I miss him.

This is not what gets me. The scene with Edmond is what brings tears.
Same. His death was tragic, but seeing a proud, sotic man like that break with grief... X.X
A parent should never have to bury their child...

This is the first time most people cry, but it won't be the last...

The attack also happens in final EX trial boss of HW, where it's not only a stack but also gives a healing debuff.

Dayum that's evil lmfao. This game is amazing. @@VandheerOfKazaarn
Meanwhile Thancred’s just sadistically clapping in the corner
oh my god...still crying to this scene. They did such a good job making you care about these damn characters, it hurts still too this day!

God this always hurts to watch. I miss my guy.
I'm still rocking his shield has as a paladin

And to add to this also: the game loves to remind you of him, and each time it gets me...
Ah... This explains the tweet. Went from barely remembering his name to being etched forever. My condolences. PTSD Inc.
I just wanna hug you. I cried my eyes out when he died because I fell very very VERY hard for him

It doesn't get any better each time I see it.

I used to glamor myself to look like Haurchefant with my Lalafell and /playdead outside of that cutscene exit and AFK.
I went with a friend to his grave in the wedding dresses. Dyed black. got some nice reactions from people passing by.
Gonna be gutted from this for a while....again.

There are 2 kinds of people those that found him annoying then loved him and those that loved him and then LOVED HIM both ended in tears.....

First time I saw this I stopped playing the game for seven years
Oh this is what the tweet was about huh
And I caught your stream last night and you said you would protect him....dam
good morning Tiffany this game is very complicated
ty nice memory
Your videos literally made me stop doing 6.4 content and browse all your reactions.
Wow. Chat didn't even do that greyface thing they normally do.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ayyyyo why is water leaking from my eyes😐
I've seen people get obviously sad about it, but not this heart broken about it, genuinely feel bad
This game is gonna destroy ya
