Is your Camelbak water bottle getting gunked up, grimy, and moldy? Here is an instructional video on how to get it clean. The only tool you need is your hands. Please DO NOT listen to folks who suggest using a butter knife, it is not necessary and makes this simple process more dangerous than it needs to be.
I purchased these camelbak products with my own money and was not paid by anyone to create this video.
Thanks. Mine is really really clean. Thanks for the demo of pulling the top apart.
I wanted to thoroughly check there is no mold anywhere.
Great explanation, I used a rubber jar lid removing pad to grip to remove the initial silcon mouthpiece, I'm going to soak my pieces in Milton baby bottle sterilization liquid after a scrubbing brush clean 😊
Your thorough explanation, especially paying attention to the "o" ring, and close-up view was great. One detail you might add is about replacement of the "o" ring. It is hard to see (transparent-ish) and a small mention of where it goes when putting it back together again could be helpful. Thank you!!
Great vid, thanks for saving me from having to buy a new bottle. Camelbak stuff is cool as it's designed to be repairable/cleanable. They are also awesome with replacement parts and generally sent them to you free of charge!
I knew my valve was gross, but after looking at this... holy cow. Thanks for the video, very helpful
I'm so glad I stubbled on this video 🤩 I've been doubting for a long time whether I shouldn't just throw my bottle away because I could not get the top clean and it's so nasty. And it works! I used the back of a small spoon to help push the second part out. Thank you so much 🙏
Clear concise and safe. Thankyou very much.
WOW! GREAT ONE! Thanks so much.
Thank you! You can use the end of a Sharpie to get that inner valve out easily. It fits perfectly and really helps removing it.
I've got three of these CamelBaks and followed your instructions. The second valve came apart just as you showed. But the first and third bottles nearly ruined my thumb and fingers. One of the inner valves ended up with stress marks from being bent to hard. I finally got it out by alternating between bending as you did, and pushing from the inside with a chop stick. Geez. Hope it gets easier.
Excellent useful you tube. I started putting Staminade in one of my 2 bike bottles. Has a small amount of sugar and glucose as I avoid artificial sweeteners . I want to pull apart and clean. I rinse after every use with detergent then water. squeeze through the top. Apart from mold it can get muddy on some rides. I stopped pulling it apart and had trouble this time. Excellent video. I was tempted to try the knife. good that you showed the last step od turning and pushing down to get it back together and to pull apart with the top twisted to closed.
First result from my Google search! Perfect video!
Thanks a lot, I'm always woprried when taking this type of thing apart/putting it back together.
Thanks bro this thing absolutely works it does take awhile the first time to get that plug out but it does eventually loosen up so thanks for coming across with this appreciate it
Thanks to you I cleaned my valve for this first time in 5 years !! The gunk inside was bad thanks your video it helped at lot !!!!
Thanks! Using a bit of Thera-band as a grip aid on both pieces really helps disassembly for those with less grip strength.
Thank you! This was the most satisfying thing I did all day. 😀
Thank you - this helped me a ton. As others have commented I'd like to know where the o-ring is supposed to be placed when you re-assemble. You just saved me replacing my bottles!!
Look @ 1:10 when it is being taken apart. That is what you want it to look like when it is put back together - the o-ring should not be exposed when reassembled, it should be inside of the silicon mouthpiece. Let me know if this makes sense and if not I'll try to find a different way to explain
I cannot believe how easy that was! Thanks very much. No more blood involved with this process.
Thanks, man. I never could've figured this out with your instructional video.
Exactly what i was looking for
Great and easy. I once dismantled and could not put together. Then got a new nozzle. Now I know how to do it !! Thanks !!
I've been looking for this video for months!
worked an absolute charm for me, thank you for making this video!
you are a genius.. just what I was looking for (thumbs up)
Still applicable! Thank you so much!
Thank you SO much! I just cleaned it and everything looks good as new except for the o-ring which still has some black specks on it. Any hints for cleaning that?
Thank you! I accidentally removed the blue piece and following this I was able to get it back in with the help of a dental tool.
This is fantastic! I was thinking about buying a new cap. So glad I don't need to now. Thanks a bunch!
So glad you made this video. I needed it!
Great video and very helpful. The new updated link you posted comes up as "marked private" though so the updated version isn't accessible.
Thanks for this. How does the cap perform after multiple cleanings ? Do they leak after a while ?
Thanks, dude. My o ring fell off and I couldn't work out where to put it back. My mouth piece is as clean as eff now.
Wonderful! Your video was so helpful! Thank you :)
Thanks. Do you know how to remove the plastic tip from the bottle cap?
Thanks I didn't know to twist it back on to fit back on the cap - I thought I lost a piece when I popped it off days ago and that's why it didn't just pop right back in.
mine was very bad, considered binning it, didn't know It could come apart so much, thanks
A quality, sensible video 🎦
Sweet little video and very helpful thank you 😊
Thanks i need to clean my podium camelback for a long time good video.
Thanks for this video. I was using sharp objects to get the gunk out. This meant I could actually clean it!
help help....!!!!!!!!!!!! i lost the oring.... can you please tell me the dimensions of the oring to buy a new one?
Thank you so much! Just what I was looking for!
Beautiful. Thanks mate
Just what I needed - thanks!
Thankyou i just cleaned mine with it, it was tough pulling those things apart for the first time tho 😅
Glad it worked out for you. Hope it will get easier 😁
Thanks, very helpful
thanks for showing me, i was wondering how to take it apart for a while .... i will try it
You can even take apart the small part with the value apart.
Thanks dude, this vid was very helpful
Good one!! What Camelback never taught the consumer.
they did

Worked great, thanks you
Very useful! Thank you!
The blue membrane on one of mine won't close on it's own. Does anyone know of anything I can do to get it to behave normally again?
Thanks excellent advice
Dude!! Amazing :) Thank you
Great video. The sort of info that Camelback should give you. Only comment: That is not a butter knife. The main problem is that anything sharper than a true butter knife might also cut the soft silicone. Ideally a dull piece of metal about 1/4" wide will help to pry out the top. Part of a electrical fish wire might do the trick if you soften the edges. Maybe a large knitting needle. Can't thing of anything else.
Thumbs up! Thank you fpr this helpful tip.
Excellent Thanks!
saved me from buying a new mouthpiece - thanks so much!
Thank you. Did it!
Thank you Sir!
Thank you!
Thanks dude I was affraid to break mined !
Thanks!
Thank you man!
Thank you, thank you!!
Quote: "I created an updated version of this video" Link says: "Video unavailable This video is private." WHY!?!?!
help me a lot
Thank you! Can't find your detailed video though, was it taken down?
Yes, this is the most detailed I am allowed to get.
Thanks Dude
thanks man
Thanks man 🤙
Thx
You don't remove the blue valve to clean it? I had to do it as there was mold there too, and it was easier to clean the transparent silicon piece but now it seems hard to put back and I'm not sos ure how to :/ Also the little o-ring seems to stay outside when I push it back through the silicon piece. Maybe I am not pushing far and hard enough.
I recently discovered how to get that piece apart. I plan on making an updated video to demonstrate how to get it all apart and put it back together again. I will reply again when I post so you can know when it is up.
Can the twist-valve be removed from the bottle lid?
The new video is up detailing how to completely take the top apart and put it back together. You can see it here:
ruclips.net/video/UFe9JFw5YQo/видео.html
first part I had to use pliers, and it came off easy, second part I thought I was going to break it or my nails, but it worked after a lot of effort. Hopefully it will be easier next time. Thanks!
So we conveniently ignore how to dismantle the hard plastic piece attached to the lid?
Pull it apart. It should come apart and then click back together like most plastic things. Just remember how you took it apart and then put it back together in reverse. that is the best advice I can give
didn't work, jet valve could not be removed and ended up breaking the rubber
I wanted to separate the blue bit from the white one, there's mildew in there.
unfortunately, the company doesn't want me showing how to take the whole thing apart. It is possible to pop the plastic pieces apart to be able to separate the blue part from the plastic. Hope you can get it done with a bit of trial and error.
@@2trainyourself2 The blue membrane popped out of its housing during cleaning. I can not for the life of me get it re-seated again properly.
This is NOT a cleaning video, it is a disassembly/assembly video.
The actual cleaning part is so obvious he doesn't need to show it. You know, just clean it. With soap and water.
But...you need an engineering degree to do that
Wow! Vielen dank!
