Don't let the friendly owl act fool you, that is one sick and twisted birb.
But duolingo gave us the hi honey in the first place

Real talk tho, the fact that Suisei is recognizing when duolingo is being unnecessarily pedantic (like pointing out that "oh" and "oh no" mean the same thing in that context) really shows how far she's come with English understanding and proficiency.
Also her voice is cute af
duolingo is bad, but the difference between "this", "that", and "which" do matter, just like the difference between "oh no"(expressing disappointment) vs "oh"(expressing surprise). That being said, duolingo is kind of garbage in general.
@@bobthebuilder609 I think it depends on how you vocalize that 'Oh'.
It depends on the context. The context here is that she's being asked to translate something word for word, and she missed a word. In a conversation, the meaning may have come across, but the actual task was failed.
Aye, her comprehension is on-point. However, it is a good thing that Duolingo's English course is a bit pedantic, especially for Japanese speakers. In Japanese, you can omit obvious things like the subject of the sentence, because the sentence can still be understood regardless. If you do that in English, you end up sounding like a toddler, or a cave-man. Like, the "ticket" sentence at 1:45. Word-for-word, what Suisei wrote would translate as, "Excuse me, have my ticket?" Even in context, this'd likely cause a bit of confusion, just because the subject wasn't included.
@@bobthebuilder609 I actually believe this approach is best. Make the base of your language as formal as possible, and then start adding the informal, by starting in conversational inmediately, you may lose part of that base. I equate it to learning an instrument. Sure you can jump to songs inmediately, but if you learn chords and scales, you have a solid base and can go farther.
2:22 This is the most native Suisui has sounded since Hi Honey
Yeah, it's why she got it wrong the previous time because she pronounced red as read and is as isl
@@herozero8809 read and red have different pronounciation!?
@@NoWayPlays1 red and reed
or read or something
english is bad i hate it
the way read is pronounced is dependent on context
@@parisbtw5779 "Read" in *past tense* is pronounced as "red"
@@NoWayPlays1 Yes, completely different. Read's pronounced as /ri:d/; Red's pronounced as /red/, "Read" has the long /i:/ sound while "red" has the /e/ sound. However, read in past tense is pronounced the same as red.
Also, in Japanese, every syllable has the same length iirc while in English the /i:/ has to be longer the the rest of the word, if not, it might sound like "Rid" which has the short /i/ sound.
It's confusing but she nailed the second time tho.
Suisei is known for her top-notch singing and suicopath skills but she's also a true comedian, these reactions are too good.
Absolutely. She's also has random chaos inside of her, almost as much as Polka. Truly, Sui Sui can do everything except whistle.

I feel weird observing this sui cult. Very fascinated tbh.
Frankly one of the more interesting things in this stream is when Suisei diverged from the literal word by word translation that Duolingo wants in order to provide perfectly reasonable translations that are more in line with what someone would actually say. It really does a good job showcasing the kind of high level language reasoning that the Duolingo system tends to discourage.
that editing takes the funny moments to the next level hahaha
thanks for the clips!
Firsto, getting tanked by Suisei's anger.
0:20 I'm glad she not remove space between pen and is

1:23 I have to vouch for Duolingo here "Oh" and "Oh no" gives off different impressions
Chotto I think someone's at my door
It is actually a language problem, in Japanese there is a lot of inference so saying something "I like coat" make sense and ppl understand you mean "I like that coat" or "I like your coat" depending on the situation, where as that isn't true in English
2:05 i know what duolingo is trying to do here lmao

When I finished the course introducing colors in Japanese, I was a little disappointed they didn't teach me how to say "The pen is red." or "The pen is blue." Funny to see they almost did in the English course.
Yeah, it's really cool to see these lessons in reverse.
In a separate note it really made me laugh getting 'O Kawaii Koto' from Kaguya-Sama and 'What does the fox say'.
Pen wa akai. Pen wa ao. Hai hai Sumimasen senpai, So desu ne, Pen wa akai dayo dakara ne to omoimasu, dashou, tabun, maji fuzakenna. Besto Nihongo dayo.
@@Jordan-Ramses Oh yeah, I forgot about getting "What does the fox say?". One of my favorites (even though it's not a references as far as I know) is "Is that doctor 4 years old?" It's probably the rudest sounding Duolingo sentence I've seen.
@D_YellowMadness there was 'all your base are belong to us' except the English was translated less literally. Which I thought was funny because the bad translation was what made it a meme.
This is definitely not a reference but 'Osaki ni Shitsureishimasu' is a great song by Hanabie. I got that quite often a few months ago. It's titled Pardon Me, I have to go now in English.

Duolingo is the only one who can make suisei get angry and scream

Duolingo is really aggressive the more you educate yourself.

Thus the difference between "textbook Japanese" and "conversational Japanese".
Duolingo is just fishing for "tch"s from Suisei
Imagine getting so angry at an app it made you unlock a skill you didn't have before, in Suisei's case a Russian accent lol.

suisei is way too adorable when throwing tantrums. it's not balanced
1:46 This translation is not wrong though. Japanese omits subject if it's obvious from context. If she had added "you"(あなた) in the sentence, it would had been very unnatural.
