Just a thought from what you've been demonstrating and explaining, and my own limited experiences with building. I'm thinking you're going to want some type of an air compressor system (pump plus larger tank) for a service ship or perhaps another (larger) submarine which can act as a tender for smaller subs, to recharge the depleted air tanks.

Idea: add a diving suit in case of the air system failing, giving the pilot more time to get back to the surface!
I already have! In ones that have airlocks, there is a diving suit - in the case of ones without (or too small) they have air respirators!

is it ok to have like a normal boat and just have like pump and port to outside so its sucking air in from the outside?
For boats all you need is a port and gas filter, no need for pumps! Pumps will make a high pressure inside the ship
