The purpose of hitting the power button after disconnecting the power cord is to discharge any voltage left in the capacitors on the motherboard or other parts of the system to avoid any kind of electric shock.
Excellent. Saw this computer on Consumer Reports- top rated, the 16gb ram version on sale at Best Buy- saved a lot of money with that and this video showed me exactly how to upgrade it back to the reviewed 32 gb version. Perfect!
I have same pc. But mine is juiced up. Swapped the rinky dink 110w power supply that it comes with to a direct fit 400w. Dropped in a Nvidia GTX 1650 Super. And PNY ddr4 16gb x2 3200mhz ram sticks. And a more powerful CPU fan and heatsink. Considering that you use editing software, I'd suggest throwing in a better GPU instead of using the integrated one.
This is exactly what I needed to hear! I do need more power out of this computer. It's a solid machine, but it could use a tune. I am going to research the components you added and I may just do the same! Thanks a lot... my Camtasia thanks you too!
Yeah, I have the one variation from Costco that came with GTX 1660. I don't really need that but my son prefers it to his laptop for some of his games. Mine came with came with the extra stuff, which is good, but then again the motherboard is maxxed out and I can't upgrade anything except maybe the power supply, which I guess would be the same one you had (110w). Not sure if I should do that or not, it's just a daily work horse.
Great video! I have a very similar HP Envy TE01. I use Davinci Resolve 18.5 and it was struggling to preview the videos. I had already had the memory upgraded but it did not help. I had a 6 Gig GPU installed and wow what a difference. So you might want to try that!
That's a fantastic tip! Thanks for sharing your experience with the HP Envy TE01! It's always great to hear from others who have found effective ways to enhance their system's performance. Upgrading to a 6 Gig GPU sounds like it made a significant difference, especially for demanding tasks like video editing with Davinci Resolve. I'll definitely keep that in mind for future upgrades. Appreciate your input, and I'm glad your system is running smoothly now!
The reason why it is highly advisable to press the power button (as if to turn on the computer) AFTER YOU UNPLUG THE COMPUTER is because there is voltage "potential energy" still stored in the system. You may potentially get electrocuted by an unplugged computer due to these stored voltages! Therefore, when the computer is unplugged, always press the power button repeatedly to be sure to release this stored energy. To my surprise, I have learned that many people are unaware of this. The reason why I am aware of this is because it was common knowledge to those who grew up during the age of Cathode Ray Tube televisions. An unplugged Cathode Ray Tube television can cause death by electrocution despite being unplugged! Have A Safe And Happy New Year, 2024!
I bought equipment for an upgrade an Exter mechanical hard drive and had surgery and then moved later to find out that the sandblaster card won’t fit in the slot because it’s offset yeah I’ve read that it could be installed with a ribbon cable I haven’t been able to find that cable I have a PCI one and a PCI 16 pen anybody have any suggestions
This might be a stupid question! But I have no idea! Can you take 16 gig ram out of a stock hp pc and add it to a gaming pc that comes with 16 gigs? Would that work and give you 32 gigs?
You could but you're gonna need to replace the power supply on the pc cuz it cant handle the parts, get a power supply (psu for short) thats like 650w if you dont have one already
If you're planning on using both ram slots then getting two identical ram sticks is the way to go. This way you'll have your ram in dual channel mode. If you mismatch the ram, then you can run into several problems the worse being that your computer won't even boot up. Most motherboard BIOS do not like mismatched ram, so even if you do manage to boot up the computer, your ram will run at the slowest speed out of the two sticks, and if computer's resource needs exceeds the amount from the lower capacity ram stick, it will slow down.
@@BrandensOutdoorChannel Brands do matter when you use 2 or more sticks of ram. Even if the clock speed of the ram is the same, two sticks of ram from two different brands are not identical, and most likely will not be run in dual channel or your machine can even fail to POST. If you want the best, safest and most stable option to use 2 or more sticks of ram, you need to buy them as a pair. Even if you buy two single sticks from the same brand, with the same speed, there is no guarantee that the actual chips themselves will be from the same manufacturer. Do not confuse the chip manufacturer from the brand of ram, they are usually different.
@@lumiereeclair It is reasonable to add 2 sticks for about $138 Crucial 32GB Desktop DDR4 2666 MHz UDIMM Memory Kit (2 x 16GB) This Seems like the way to go.
I hope this memory upgrade helps!

3200 RPM? RAM doesn't spin. Memory module not card.
MHz

What is the Pin count on this memory card?
Can you game with these
Not sure about that. I do video editing on mine and it still can fall on its face. I need to get a graphics card and see how that helps.

I don't think brand matters as much as the type of RAM
