    Nozzle information for an IEM list of sorts or a nozzle database would be awesome. IEMs seem to have bigger and bigger nozzles and people with narrower ear canals really can't stand big nozzles.

      This is so totally an excellent idea for IEMs. Hopefully a Google docs Excel style spreadsheet could be created to which people can add info about specific IEMs. The things to measure are the nozzle diameter, the nozzle flange diameter, the filter diameter for nozzles which have filters installed into the ends of the nozzles, and the inner bore and umbrella diameters for the IEM's stock eartips. And for any given IEM, the third party eartips which users have used which fit well on the given IEM. I have done this for my nearly three dozen IEMs, yet all of the data is in a simple text file instead of in a spreadsheet.

      Yeah, we really need smaller nozzle IEMs. I can't stand anything above 5mm (I'm looking at you, Truthear Zero)

    I recommend putting small silica gel packets inside each iem slot or containers and it should be airtight. I use individual mini containers from Daiso that adequately airtight. Im paranoid that humidity even small amount overtime can affect or worse damage iem even without using it

      @yds1133 this is great advice

    • @contrarian2496
      @contrarian2496 7 месяцев назад +6

      I too recently started using silica gel in dry cases, because several of my IEM got affected by humidity, the most common issue is the oxidisation of the metal IEM nozzle, once the coating wears off the nozzle will oxidise, that's why I won't buy IEM with aluminium nozzles anymore. But hopefully the silica gel would be effective in absorbing any moisture from the IEM.

      @@contrarian2496do you, per chance, live in a salty coastal area or are you a sweaty person? Aluminium should be more stable than say, brass or stainless steel, and really only corrodes (to a significant extent) under salty and humid air.

    +1 to the on how to setup the measurement system so everyone can double check the usual Squig measurements with own measurements and +1 to the nozzle size database which IMO is a must. Really appreciate your work Timmy.

  • @miershyk
    @miershyk 7 месяцев назад

    Having a database on nozzle size will be so SO handy! Often times there are talks of IEM size, but seldom about the nozzle size, for both the nozzle and lip width. It'll definitely help with choosing an IEM as well. Would love to see this nozzle database done!

  • @occasionalart

    Would love to see a video on how to make your own graphs, especially since squiglink seems to have a feature where you can upload your own graphs, I feel like that could be a great tool for EQing since you could just get a graph of what your EQ profile actually does to the IEM.

    Timmy's ears otherwise feel wet and juicy when fully healed. I also found that topping offer great gear when it comes to price to performance. I didnt go up as high as the A90 but chose the A30 pro as a amp and paired it with a A70 pro dac as they were both on sale at the time. Nice clean sound while not having to spend to much

    I use the dollar store storage bins for my extra cables and ear tips. I use the big watch cases for my favorite pairs of IEM's. I ran out of room in my watch cases and need to order another one 😆. I carry a couple pair of IEM's in the cases that they came with, and my dongle dacs in a Maxpedition Pro tucked into my backpack for EDC. I also carry my DAP in a holster that I received from a flashlight company which fits perfectly 👌

  • @CaptainSkelly
    @CaptainSkelly 7 месяцев назад

    Currently I rock a Topping A30 Pro and D30 Pro combo and it's honestly so perfect for me. Clean, good sound, not really coloured but also not overly analytical. It kinda hits a sweet spot right in the middle for me. I also have a couple other Schiit dacs, one of them being a Modi Multibit 1 and a Nitsch Piety amp. However, my Topping stack gets the most use as low gain is perfect for iems and easy to drive headphones. Currently been rocking the DaVinci, Aful Explorer, and Aful Performer 5 (I also have Audiosense DT200 but unfortunately they don't make it anymore. It's so great!).
    Recently took advantage of the Hifigo Sale and grabbed a Hiby R3 II. Phenomenal DAP for the money. It's simple and works great. Current favourite over-ear headphone is the Hifiman Ananda stealth. Very underrated headphone imo.

    Great video . The gear and item that I use often nowadays is :
    IEMs : 7th acoustics supernova . Although I have an expensive IEM like crimson but usually love the relax tuning of the supernova with good enough details. Unless if I want a technically superior IEM to hear details , I’ll pick crimson.
    Dongle : Questyle M15 . Excellent on IEMS mainly . Tons of power for IEMs .
    Woo audio tube mini : I use it only on my HD650
    Desktop amp and dac : JDS labs atom 2 and JDS labs Atom DAC+. It powers all my headphones and IEMs easily . Low distortion as well.
    Headphones that I use often :
    1) focal bathys : great wireless and wired headphones. Use it for convenience unless if I want the “audiophile type of wired focal sound” , I’ll use it on DAC mode . Slowly using it lesser due to my IEMs
    2) Hifiman Arya stealth : great planar for the price . Mine is gonna be 3 years old
    3) DCA aeon 2 noire : great closed back planar for the price .
    I keep them in my drawer . But with dehumidifiers . And alcohol wipes whenever I use them . Sometimes for cushions , I use the Dettol wipes without alcohol but kills germs etc .

    i can't recommend enough the aluminum cases from trn and the like that are round and just big enough to fit most iems and most cables. I can literally drop my iem in the case from a height of 5 meters and not worry about it because the the case and cable act as cusions and since its just big enough the iem inside doesnt move and so it wont get damaged..., i know from experience...

    iFi Go Blu all the way with my IEMs: Moondrop Dusk, Letshuoer Z12 Gold, Gizaudio Chopin. For TWS the Technics AEH-AZ80 is my go to. Tips got the Dunu SS, Tangzu Sancai, Zeos Render Tips, Moondrop Spring Tips and a bunch of Spinfits. Store everything on a big watch case too 😅

    Organizers: I use camera hard cases with foam lining on both sides, one fits 6, the other fits 10. They're big, but the 6-slot one I can put it in my backpack and not have to worry about untimely accidents (too much).
    Eartip Travel Case: Nothing beats pill containers for me. Bonus points if it's date and time-labeled. "A set of tips for different times of the day" - Someone in Discord
    Everyday IEM: My contract requires that I say Binky (but it is a permanent fixture in my weekly 6-IEM rotation, especially with newbies here requesting for impromptu meets to demo).

      I do prefer a wired dongle (Questyle M15 is my favourite), but the ifi Go Blu is the best wireless dongle - I owned a couple of others which were frankly dreadful; the Qudelix 5k which is apparently 'unbeatable' according to the experts who have owned three pairs of $50 IEMs over six months... I even hear people talking about it powering Senn HD800's 'beautifully'. 😂😂😂 My Topping DX9 can barely get decent sound out of them.

      @@bozardo101 Can't speak about the BTR7 but I had the BTR5 2021 before i got the iFi Go Blu and prefer the iFi 100%. They do have completely different approaches, sort of usability vs personalization fight, so it is a personal preference. Soundwise they are very equivalent for my ears.
