    For people that dont know, a real life 39yr old retired marine was pulled over by police and he happened to have $87,000 on him. His LIFE savings. The cops stole his money and didn't even give him a ticket for why they pulled him over, never charged him with a crime, nothing. Just stole his life savings. Im assuming this movie is loosely (at least the part about the cops stealing his money) based on that.

      Nobody goes to cinemas to see anything costing under $150 million according to studios, plus they rush everything to Video On Demand in 6 to 7 weeks. Why do you think AMC, Regal and Cinemark are in problems? The value of AMC stock was at $640 a share in June 2021 and now $5 in August 2024. Studios would release this if they could make it for under $20 million, factoring in marketing and distribution costs. But really they see it as a B-movie. The leading star is unknown to most people, so....

    • @VIISkies
      @VIISkies Месяц назад

      @@matthewprince9705 it’s because of the common trend in modern media between video games and movies; smaller studios are more willing to take risks than big studios, and often times those risks can prove to be very profitable- but because big studios are so concerned about making money, they see the risk as a liability.

    Went into it blind, never seen trailer, just seen it was #1 in Canada on Netflix and #1 download on my go to torrent site so threw it on and man, so good, the pacing is perfect, the writing is smart, some great one liners, really bad ass character. It's different in that he's not on the hunt for them but on the hunt for something else and when they get in his way he has to out manoeuvre them, whether physically or mentally but a fight isn't his main goal, it's just survival and that goes for them as well. It's hard to explain without giving away the plot. Not too many names here or any prior knowledge of the movie, so I was expecting the typical low budget, bad acting, corny action shit that is half fun to watch and laugh at but I was really impressed, it's very original and very well made.

    Really interested to see Jeremy Saulnier do what looks like a more straightforward action movie. For the people here who hasn't seen his most well-known movies, Blue Ruin and Green Room (both highly recommended), they're both interesting in that they sound like action movies on paper but are actually very grim and low-key. The brutal violence isn't Epic John Wick Shit, it's all filmed very flat and straightforward, and because it's so brutal but so understated it's the kind of movie violence you feel deep in your gut in an "oh shit that could happen to me" way. Wonder how this movie's gonna play its violence.

    • @raerose619
      @raerose619 Месяц назад +7

      i didnt even realize this was the same guy. im honestly stoked now. green room was insanely tense, the violence felt visceral and real. Blue ruin is more of a slow burn but the action again very tense and real, its not these crazy martial arts fights scenes where its a flurry of blows being blocked by opponents, its just down n dirty fighting for your life. the arm break/boxcutter from green room i still have to look away from when watching and blue ruins final scene, while having a few deaths leading up to it, was almost a complete 180 from how slow and quiet the rest of the film actually is. I knew it was building and building to the finale but when it finally popped off it still hit just as hard. character building is good and while the stories are basic he does a very good job making it feel believable.

    • @dracenines

Like "these characters aren't super-skilled gunfighters, they're just winging it through the violence as best they can and not doing a very outstanding job of it."

      True. If doctors have to have medical malpractice insurance, why should police officers? Pay them more. Demand better educational requirements. Require psychological screening. People who have life and death responsibilities should be better regulated and rewarded (which would diminish corruption).

    The girl who plays Summer in this movie is totally what I envision Sarah from The Last of Us (the game, not the show) looking like when she's older if she hadn't died. Even that southern accent of hers is spot-on. "I sell drugs. Hardcore drugs." 😄

    Thank you for making this movie. I know I’m not black. As an Asian women I too have experienced racism like this. I have black friends who were treated unfairly by white cops too. Because I’m not white. I always felt that white people were always above or in the front of me too.

    Movie started excellent...love the dialogue between Pierce & Don Johnson...their interactions brief but gold...Pierce gave off that "Hello ...But I would F you up" vibe in such a debonaire way....he deserves some good action movies
