- Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America. It's in Metropolitan melting pot just like ours. Almost every culture on earth is represented in this Canadian city. It has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, embracing its immigrant population in a way few cities do.
Known as one of the friendliest places on the planet, Toronto, Ontario, gives you a feeling every city could be like this. Whether it is Caribbean culture, European lineage, or African diaspora, this town has a lot of great energy.
One of the thriving cultures here is the Somali community. Somalia is a country in East Africa that has recently been placed on the travel ban list. Many came here after a civil war and famine, which ravished the country. They've been able to maintain their cultural heritage while assimilating to a new reality.
Yasmin Warsame is a Somali-Canadian supermodel and activist who has lived in Toronto for a very long time. She broke down some cultural barriers and told me about her story.
The Somali-American celebrity chef Roble Ali took us to the Dixon Housing Projects, a primarily Somali neighborhood where some of his family from Somalia live.

First, Regent Park was never called 'Little Somalia.' This the first I have heard anyone call that area and I have been living in Toronto since 2000.
Secondly, Dixon condos are not 'housing projects,' insinuating a governemnt housing. Those are condos and residents pay a lot more than private apartment buildings, let alone government housing.

As a young kid growing up in Somalia you have not only parental guidance but society contributed into your guidance school teachers imams or Quran teacher's all did their part into forming a young somali man or woman in the west how ever everything is turned upside down what was a taboo back home is a social thing parents expect these you people to just grow up as they did not knowing double or triple the effort is needed to produce a mindset or character similar to theirs

That is good thing because seasons no only bring about change of clothes but also change thoughs.winter does bring forth reflection and foresight and planning in thoso who pay attention to there surroundings. While the sun does the opposite.
So if the case is true that Somalis end up in cold countries they should rap up and thank their lucky stars that someone is looking out for them in the long run and learn to play hockey in winter time and football during summers .That is called having both halves covered.
