Can we get a massive Drake for Zinjo for not only flipping the footage so we can watch it here, but also taking the time to unflip the subtitles for those of us who want/need them. big Drake
the halloween thing really is terrible. since the gifts have to be bought beforehand and are definitely not translatable into a tangeable amount of candy it takes all the fun out of trick or treating away. With trick or treating you are earning candy that you get to eat when you get home, if you know that all the candy is going straight into the Switch witch's toilet bowl then theres no motivation to really go out trick or treating. It's not like you're going to get more presents if you get a lot of candy so you might as well just stay home or do something else and still getting the same presents anyways.
The whole switch witch thing isn't unique, I knew a fair few kids who had some variant of some magical thing come and exchange some amount of candy for a toy, as did I. Honestly it wasn't a bad deal since it made Halloween more than just a gorge yourself on candy night especially since it took weeks to burn through it even with my sweet tooth. But that's exactly why trying to market that doesn't work because people have already been doing it for ages with their own traditions and probably has spread far more that way than any commercialized product lol
The mirror company could've been so much better if they had just gone a slightly different path. EDIT: I meant literally changing the product too, cause this one's terrible. "Introducing the TrueFlat (WIP)! Many mass manufactured mirrors are slightly convex because of loose quality control. This can lead many to both an unrealistic view of their body, and develop into self-image issues. TrueFlat prides itself in our quality assurance, making sure you can see the true, wonderful you!" This still supports her emotional investment, while also being a way more viable consumer product. Even though other companies could start promising the same thing, people don't care about mirror brands very much, so as soon as they see the whole "convex mirrors are bad" campaign they won't pay attention to other mirrors, they'll just figure "well, I should get me one of those straighter mirrors from that lady.". There's no innovation in sight, but it could easily spark out as a generic trademark.
So basically she would lie even more by saying normal mirrors are lower quality and hers are real, when she’s actually purposely selling one that makes people look skinny
@@jeffreyfairbanks5242 im pretty sure most mirrors are a bit off though. Not necessarily convex, but warped in some other way a bit which could make people feel they are more asymmetrical than they really are.
The sharks are more than willing to invest in clever schemes to deceive people, but when the scam is too obvious, they act like they have some semblance of morality for the cameras. Behind closed doors, I'm sure they probably wouldn't have turned down that 700k if they were in her position
I think they should have gone with an allergy/dietary restriction angle for the switch witch. If your kids is allergic to peanuts, that means they can’t eat like half of their candy. Allergens like dairy, almonds, gluten, etc are also found in candy. If a child is diabetic, they may not be able to eat any candy or only one piece when their sugar is low. That is a perfect way to still make Halloween special (and safe) for kids who can’t eat certain foods.
Ah, the skinny mirror. A few years back, I was in some clothes store, I don't remember which one it was exactly, but it was definitely one of the more well known ones. I looked into one of the mirrors and noticed I looked a lot skinnier then I actually am, and when I walked away, I could notice the mirror was slightly warped. I'm not sure if this was the same brand of mirrors, but it definitely was some sort of skinny mirror.
that actually reminds me that i've seen myself in mirrors and thought i looked thinner... and got home and saw i wasn't, and because i have body dysmorphia i was very upset. until i saw this video/comment i had no idea these kinds of mirrors existed! but anyway whatever moral high ground skinnymirror girl is trying to take is bullshit lol and ty op for letting me know these exist /gen
If you go into a dressing room or in retail stores, they have modified mirrors to get you to buy from them. They're just really expensive and only sold to stores from various companies or make their own.
Not to mention it’s a massive lawsuit for false advertising with it! I feel like nobody is mentioning it, sure it may or may not work both for retail and as an independent company financially and ethically, but it’s legality is by FAR the biggest issue here.
@@courier6960 It's been going on for two decades or more now. Nobody has raised a stink about it or sued. You'll never really notice if it's angled or an altered mirror since it's so subtle.
Never heard of the Skinny Mirror, but in my teens, it was pretty much common knowledge that stores used mirrors that made you look slimmer so that you would buy the clothes.
it's actually insane that someone can create a business, design the product, make the product, and never realize how dumb of an idea it is. There's no way no one told them how dumb the switch witch or skinny mirror were, they had to just be too full of themselves to listen
We watched this episode in our business class and I just remember everyone in class even the quiet girl yelling about how stupid it was calling it a scam.
I'm sure it was more organized and all but you saying yelling made me think they were screaming their lungs out at the screen, on the verge of rioting and throwing objects at it, and then they get up and run up to the screen, vandalizing everythink, and that's much funnier than just some guys saying politely its a scam
I went to highschool with the switch witch guys kid, someone told me his dad was on shark tank, but he would never talk about it. All he would ever say was it’s elf on the shelf for Halloween, he never talked about how it went, and never saw the episode until now. Edit: also yeah they are from mass but not from Salem, probably just said that for the pitch.
After seeing the Switch Witch, I think it would have been great if Atrioc looked at the Mensch on a Bench (which is mentioned in the last moment of the Shark Tank clip) which was when somebody tried to make a Jewish tradition thing as a parallel to Christmas's Santa Claus; it even seems that it did decently well after a quick google search, plus just the fact that the guy in the show mentions it as a thing that he expected to be the "next" of.

Department stores will often have slightly curved mirrors to slightly slim people in the reflection. They just don’t put a logo telling you in the corner lol. This has been a thing.
The skinny mirror would be great for instagram selfies. Also The fat mirror she mentioned sounds like a better idea to me as it would make you feel fatter and you try to loose weight
@@living5891 True but I am talking from business standpoint. From a moral and ethical view however the idea of a mirror that alters your figure in any shape or form is wrong other than for entertainement
The skinny mirror has the logo yes but not a lot of people are going to notice it, it does basically say skinny so on the low chance you look and read the logo then maybe you can figure it out.
I mean if you wanted the "new elf on the shelf" for Halloween then just make something scary and call it the "Halloween Scream" or something and it would do 20x better than the 'Switch Witch'
The skinny mirror thing was probably doing harm to people's mental health, not the other way around. If you go to a shop and buy a dress because it makes you look thin, and then try it on at home and you look like usual, you will feel so much worse at the fact that you thought you were skinny. And if you buy one for yourself you will know it, meaning you won't convince yourself. Even worse, you may convince yourself that any differences are because of the mirror, not because of any weight you might actually have lost.
We put this type of mirror in the fitting rooms at a store I used to work at, so that customers were more likely to like how they looked and purchase our product. IDK if it worked or not
It definitely works. I don't see how it wouldn't. People want to wear clothes that make them look good and if they see themselves in a mirror that makes them a look a bit thinner, which for most people is better, they'll think they look good and would make them more likely to buy the clothes than not.
I used to refuse to wear my glasses in front of a mirror since I had gone so long without looking at my actual skin. I thought my skin had only a few blemishes, wasn’t too bad, but then I saw my reflection with my glasses for the first time in a month… ruined my self confidence. Living in delusion didn’t help me though. All it did was make me think my skin was worse than it really was. The skinny mirror really is a horrible idea for people who want to be confident.
The skinny mirror lady probably had her business fail because she went on shark tank and showed off to everyone how it works to manipulate you and now stores don't want to buy it. She could have made bank just removing the logo and marketing to stores, she already knows people buy way more stuff when looking in it

And it has the GOAT Peter Jones.
Canadian Dragons Den is also great!
I think he should watch "Dragon's Den Canada" up in Canada, they think themselves the bees knees of marketing and they're just so smug about it
