  • Canon RF 28-70mm f2 Lens Review for Filmmakers
    I'm going to be taking a close look at the Canon RF 28-70mm f2 lens for filmmakers. This lens one of their most expensive RF lenses you can buy and it's quickly becoming one of the most popular choices for filmmakers who shoot on Canon cameras.
    There are a few reasons why this lens is so popular. First, it has a bright f/2 aperture, which gives you a lot of creative control over your images. You can use the wide aperture to create shallow depth of field, which can help you isolate your subject and create a more cinematic look.
    Second, the RF 28-70mm f2 has a very fast and accurate autofocus system. This is important for filmmakers, who need to be able to track moving subjects quickly and easily. The autofocus system on this lens is so good that you can even use it for handheld shooting, even in low light.
    Third, the RF 28-70mm f2 is a very sharp lens. It produces excellent image quality, even at its widest aperture. The lens is also very well-built, and it's made to withstand the rigors of everyday filmmaking.
    The Canon RF 28-70mm f2 is an excellent lens for filmmakers. It's versatile, fast, accurate, and sharp. If you're looking for a new lens for your Canon camera, this is definitely one to consider.
    It's a bit expensive, but it's worth the price for the quality and performance you get. If you're looking for a new lens for your Canon camera, this is definitely one to consider.

    You taught me things about that lens that I would have never been aware of. Love your b-roll. It adds a lot to your message. Your comment about "oops mic change" made me laugh, and I probably wouldn't have noticed the change in your sound if you hadn't mentioned it. But I love your sense of humor in making that tiny comment.

    Even though I bought it when it first came out, I still get the usual "wow your camera lens is HUGE" and they ultimately take me/my work more seriously. Looking the part is HUGE for getting more work too

    Amazing review! I own this and use it for video work, and yes it was so hard to find review from videographers, wish this existed when I was deciding to buy the lens, but now that I've been using it for a year it's totally worth it!

      Thank you for the kind words. I had the same issue as you with finding a videographer’s perspective. And despite it’s few flaws, this lens is easily my favorite in my bad. It’s just so beautiful to shoot with

    great video! I'll add to 2 of your points. People don't realize that f2 is twice the amount of light of f2.8 which makes a huge difference in low light situations. It's what makes the 28-70 a unicorn. Also, because it's such a heavy lens, it stabilizes the camera a lot. I noticed that the videos I made were so smooth. And people will probably laugh at the statement that the lens makes you look professional but this does matter! I was shooting a Christmas gala event (it was actually the week before Christmas) and unexpectedly models were coming up to me to take pictures of them in their gowns. I was there to shoot more candid shots, event shots, and the executive members of the company. But these models almost swarmed on me. It was surreal.

      Haha thank you for sharing. The extra stop of light is the reason I was so drawn to this lens. And you’re right, the weight helps with stabilization a ton.
      That gala must have been fun haha. Cheers!

    6:20 - this would happen to pretty much all lenses even the L ones in bright situations. I even experienced it on my sony G master. One out of 20 times or so it'll happen, it's inexplicable but it happens.

    Hi Bruno , thanks for this great review I was looking for this kind for a while on RUclips !! I have a question, what about USM motors noises when focusing and recording sounds with a mix on top of the body ? Does it makes lots of noise ?
    I own a RF 50mm 1.2 and it is really awful when it comes to recording sounds with my Zoom M3 and my 50mm. I am afraid of buying this lens and have this kind of issue because it is ruining my audio each time I use my 50 with auto focus on...

    • @BrunoPozo4Real
      @BrunoPozo4Real  10 месяцев назад +1

      The 50mm f1.2 has the same motors and motor sounds as this 28-70mm. I definitely can hear it if it’s quiet in the room.
      However, I never have a problem with audio. But I am using the Rode video mic NTG with the high pass, so maybe that’s why.

    • @gregoryl.3445
      @gregoryl.3445 10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for your answer. So it is not possible for me as the 50mm makes so much noise, even when it is crowdy i can hear them… such a pain…

    Hi Bruno, do you think i can use r5 and 28-70 with dji rs2 or i need to go to rs3 ?

    • @BrunoPozo4Real
      @BrunoPozo4Real  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can use rs2 and hold the r5 with 28-70 no problem. The RS2 payload is 4.5kg which is way less than the r5 2/28-70
