Raise the minimum wage to 1,000 dollars a hour so others who deserve 1,000 dollars a hour can make 100,000 a hour and then you'll say... If only i could make a living wage...
Actually it’s not at all. We live in Cottonwood. It has a way more to do with the number of Airbnb‘s and people with tons of money moving in from out of state, and developers buying up all of the new houses And jacking up the prices.
The biggest problem up here is the shortage of rentals due to Californians and Arizona property investors buying up homes and turning them into Air BnBs. Short term rentals bring in way more money than a family renting a home continually.
Its not just cotton wood through! Its all of Phoenix everywhere have a year or more wait, rent has sky rocketed. You basically need roommates or family members to split rent now days.
Went driving down the west valley and SO much new building! Where are we going to get the water and electrical grid capacity for all these new people? Not holding any hope the governor and her tribe will help. They aren't trustworthy.
"...in the next 2-3 years, HUNDREDS of rooftops being built." Well I guess it won't be the small town of Cottonwood anymore. Gonna turn into another Prescott - say goodbye to the tourists who were supporting the growing economy in the first place. Overpopulation & inflation is the issue everywhere.
They are having these problems because of all of the people from Calif, and NY who are moving there for a less, expensive places to live, and many of them can work from home, so they can now move to any less populated area if they want to. Before, they had to live where their jobs were, but now not so much. Thus, AZ finds itself in a housing squeeze, because of all of the influx of people. Ms. L. Churchill
And if these newcomers vote the same way that destroyed the State they came from, the new States they choose will become exactly the same as the awful States they fled from. It’s a huge shame that so many people can’t understand and/or comprehend this simple fact.
There are plenty of Housing Opportunities in Cottonwood and surrounding areas, IF You're a recipient of a massive Inheritance or won the Lottery recently, the Cost is doubled and in some cases tripled in just the last 5 months, also the Restrictions and Permit Cost for someone who buys Property and wants to build in Yavapai County is way out of the realm of Reality, You can thank the Planning Commission for that... 😠😠😠
All too true. Yavapai county is completely lazy and over charge for permits that take 6 months for a simple land use permit and costs just over $100 for a shed with no water or electricity. It’s insanely unfair that we gotta pay these nutty prices
Housing prices are increasing all across Az. It's very disturbing. Hell I may be in danger of losing my apt. Being on oxygen 24/7 it'll be very devastating for me.
Meanwhile, tens of millions of us are being kicked out of apartments and homes because eviction/foreclosure moratoriums have ended. Along with that, FED UI benes of $300-$600/week lapsed over a month ago. Tourist traps like Sedona may have housing shortages because real low income housing doesn't exist. But in big cities, vacancies for apts that rent for thousands are going empty..
....and to that home owners that will end up on the street because renters were dead beats. Many that could have afforded their rent used the moratorium to pocket the money. Want low income housing? Much of it was destroyed across the country by the tenants them selves....... and finally torn down!!!!
@@sunlite9759 My relative is a landlord. He's fair and has lots of people wanting to rent under him even before the housing shortage. Instead, he's getting out of the business because he only managed to not get fleeced by dead beat renters by the skin of his teeth (a couple of month's time.) Let's not forget that landlords weren't given the grace of not having to pay property tax or luxury tax while this was going on so, yeah, bankruptcy. Good job, Big Government. Pit 'rich' against 'poor' like you do the races and sexes. Divide and conquer then buy up the land cheap.
Rent too high, i live with the coyotes now. We ambush trashcans at night to get by and return the the desert mountain to escape the heat during the day
I HATE METH. I wish that they would take all the meth off the planet and let a black hole suck it all up. Along with all the idiots who mess with the crap.
It’s every where. The wealthy and middle classes buy up homes and then only rent them out on AirBNB. Furthermore investment firm buying them to drive up the prices. Nobody should own more than one home,.
Cottonwood is nowhere near an expensive place to live. Can't afford to live in Cottonwood? Try moving where you can afford to rent or buy. What you really want is someone else to pay for your rental. Why should taxpayers pay for housing that the hospitality industry needs. That is the responsibility of tourists that know the rental costs before they arrive. I commuted two hours each way for 30 years so I could afford a home in the Suburbs!!! ....and the train/bus was full of commuters. Try Rimrock or Camp Verde. A15 minute commute! This is a two wage economy nationwide. Sorry that is the way it is! What will happen is that Sedona will become over crowed, more expensive and unattractive for tourism. Then what? Empty hotels?
Get some Quality Developers in there to build more homes! Make the red tape short, but be sure that they only accept high quality builders and Developers to work there.
Prices are set by what the market will bear. If one sees their neighbor sell for $500K, they are likely to ask for $550K. If they get that, their neighbors will ask for $600K and so it goes until nobody who wants the property can afford it and the price goes down a little at a time until buying starts again.
It's really beginning to smell like California around here.
Cause Californians are migrating here lol
This isn't a housing crisis, it's a jobs-living wage problem...
Lol exactly it's crazy that every job is hiring but for 14 an hour then expect you to pay 3k for a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom it's a wage problem
Too a degree, but many others are trying to work remote.

Maybe Canadians too.
💯
The middle classes are just as guilty of only renting to vacationers.

The USA is folding in on itself at an alarming rate. It seems that it really has past the point of no return in every aspect. Good luck!

I literally just moved from the Valley to New York because it's cheaper.
I just bought a house in Cottonwood, moving from Florida. Don’t worry I’m quiet and don’t take up a lot of room :-)
