I agree with you with the term R models via performance not aesthetics. Volkswagen chose this to give some type of R-Line candy to the uninformed. Basically when the R32 & R36 came out to me that was the beginning and now golf R & sorrocco has those badges now. Nothing else.

Thank you man! Just takes some time for the channel to grow. Hopefully we will get an anniversary R32 it would be a good send off for the VR6 engine.
They also made a r beetle, the Rsi. Which was pretty much a golf r32 underneath with the engine and 4 motion
I wouldn’t consider the beetle R a R model but yes the beetle RSI it would fit in this category. I did do a video on the RSI a month ago

For Sure. Agreed. The industry needs these cars. I'd definitely be on the list for an anniversary car. The VR6 Engine is one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard. And probably the best V6 engine I've heard hands down. Unfortunately in the EU we have the particulate filter :( So hopefully by 2024 they would have figured out how to bring the sound back!
Jermaine N ya we will see what they end up doing I’m sure people would buy the cars if they did release a car like this... but who knows it looks like VW is going in a different direction
I'd say a video on the cabby's would be great! I have a mk3 cabrio, and I love it (2.slow and all) I'm going to be dropping a supercharger in it soon, lol.

Im now thinking about selling my edition35 gti and buying a R36?? Love the look of the wagon... Only 200 edition35 gti were shipped to australia so getting rid of a rare gti is a tough desision

@@ThreePedalGarage yeah I love how they sound but most vw gti sound rubbish because young guys go straight pipe right through and it’s just horrible sounding. But I’m ok with the edition35 until I can get what I want for it, maybe even keep it? Either way I’d be happy lol
I have a 2013 VW Passat Variant R-line 1.4l tsi dsg with 160hp. It is a multifuel version and runs with E85 and petrol. I have seen only couple of them here in Finland.
Sounds pretty cool! I’m sure the E85 helps boost the power
Hey Andrew, although not technically an 'R' model, have you heard of the Golf Rallye? Mk2, wide arches, 4 wheel drive and a 1.8 G60 engine. To me it was somewhat the precursor to the R32 having many of the core ingredients. It would be great to see a video in the style you have done for the other R models. Keep up the great work man, I really enjoy the content (from a UK MK5 R32 owner)
Yep I have! Ya I do agree with you it was the car that laid the ground works for the R32 and the rest of the R models. I’m going to make a video for the Rallye Golf. So many people have been asking for it so it would be a good idea to make it. Thank you for the comment and the kind words👍🏻🙌🏻
My 2014 Touareg Exceline R-Line has the 3.6L VR6.

Nice video, you forgot to mention the Scirocco R, which is a true R model that sold in most markets apart from the US.
Ya that is true. It’s basically a golf R with FWD. When I made this video I didn’t do much research on the scirocco yet so yep I missed it for sure.
Volkswagen didn't introduce the R line in 2011 there was already an R line mk5 it was based on the gt sport with either a 2.0tdi or an 1.4tsi engine both you could choose between 140 or 170hp. the b6 passat was also available as R line. The scirroco R was a "real" R model. It had the same 2.0 tsi engine as the mk6 R golf but no haldex awd

Why is the R Model Not in the VW website anymore? Are they No longer making the R Model?
RICARDO DIAZ I believe for model year 2020 they are not making the Golf R in the US and they will be introducing the MK8 golf R in 2021.
Hey there Andrew i justed wanted to tell you about my 2010 passat R model, its not the R36 its a rare tdi delivered to new Zealand only now its in Australia black outside with seat covered in a never seen material for a passat, only cost me $6500 au dollars.🇦🇺🇦🇺 R36 value is between $9000 to $ 19000 depending on condition.

Just FYI, a few of the cars you showed in your "R-Line" portion of the video (the Scirocco R MK3 & Polo R) ARE actual R cars with performance enhancements

@@ThreePedalGarage I think it's well worth going over the other R models like the Scirocco MK3 & Polo R/Polo WRC (Scirocco is basically a beautiful MK6 R but FWD & the Polos are wild)
Yep Being for America sadly we didn’t get the scirocco R or the polo R. I remember the the Scirrocco R came out I wanted one so bad but sadly in the us it would compete to much with the GTI. I added them both to my list! Thank you for the suggestion

They did make a W8 4motion passat in the states sedan and Wagon. Jist didnt have the R badge or the forged crank the Euro models had on the R36 passat( same with the us vr6 4motion passat 2008)

@@ThreePedalGarage I love mine. Has mods to: tuning, turbo, suspension, brakes and wheel/tire package. I'll submit a picture if you'd include it somewhere!
It's best to have both in 1 car. Mine's a GTI with a swapped MK6 Golf R engine with the exception of AWD thus making it @half_r_mk5 👍❤️. A heart of Golf R in a GTI body.

I used to have an American variant r36 Passat VR6 B6 4motion. Miss that car so much it's not fair. Curse Asian drivers.
I know the feeling I miss my 2008 VR6 Passat AWD Suspension was going out and I couldn't afford to fix it I did manage to beat a BMW and infinity it handled very well despite it's Suspension issues it was a sweet sleeper

The R32 MK5 is increasing in value fast, also it's the best R32 ever made, the MK4 is nowhere near as good and the newer ''R'' models are just shit.
Idk man in the US the MK5 R32 are going up in value but not as fast as the MK4. I have seen 3 MK4 R32 sell for over $60k while the most expensive MK5 has solid for $35k. The MK5 are nice but VW cheaped out on them here in the US. We didn’t get a manual option, no 4 door option and we got stock GTI seats. It was just not as much as a drivers car as the mk4. The European cars got the nice recaro option seats, a 4 door and a manual option. The mk4 R32 we basically Got the euro spec R32 minus the xenon headlights and the headlight washers. That’s just my option. I do like the MK5 R32 and I am looking at getting one as a daily since the DSG would be perfect for that.
