I loved hearing that line, the honesty and vulnerability of it. So many of us feel the same, we want to know, want to understand and learn, but we don't have the language to ask the question, so we often don't ask because we fell we can't not because we don't want to; then to hear the response from Lawrence Krauss is equally poignant as he wants to answer in a way we can all understand.

At least we can make experiments to test our hypotheses in science.

If they were “only suppositions” we wouldn’t have phones or the internet, or medicine (etc etc etc), or we wouldn’t have sent probes to far off places in the solar system, or sent people to the moon.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t have time to be an ultra specialist expert on every subject, so I have to believe the experts.

There are no questions as the questions are born out of the answers we already have. You can not ask something for which you do not have any knowledge of. The thoughts/memory/thinking are all just memory.

my best friend's dad is a nuclear physicist working at CERN and i swear every time i see him i have an hour long conversation like this with him and i still can't wrap my head around how any of this is possible. I've known my best friend for 20years.
I just listened to the full podcast and I have to tell you this is one of the greatest recordings of this century so far. Fuck me! At one part they talked about how their separate audience would react, never thinking about the possibility of some people being a fan of both of them. There was no divide here, probably they don't even realize what an amazing thing they just did! This was pure awesomeness! Wow! One more thing I'd like to add is that music actually talks about the same thing. They talked about storytelling and music but separately. I think that music is just the 1 dimensional, purest form of storytelling using only frequencies as a medium. I want more of this.

A great example, put so clearly by Ricky, of how we “...don’t have the language, to ask the right questions”. We are so desperate for answers, yet so hopelessly ill equipped to grasp them.

I LOVE THIS SHIT! Real talk about knowns and unknowns in a logical rational scientific way rather than in categorizing the unknowns as mystical, magical, or supernatural conclusions. It makes far more sense to understand that there exist current unknowns about popping into existence rather than simply just popping up gods from zero evidence and historical pagan beliefs that became cults and popular cults that became organized religions.

Why is Ricky not listening but constantly interrupting

What I like about this, is, there are two humans honestly exchanging communication. Unfortunately, the world they live upon, is populated by great apes that can make sense of the solar system on one end of the spectrum. Then on the other end of the spectrum, the great apes shit in the lanes and yards of other great apes. Also, all the great apes are distributing plastic by the ton. Killing every other animal.
It's apparent that Ricky has a Philosophy degree. When Lawrence reads a comment that says atheism is unscientific, instead of addressing the idea he tries to change the definition of atheism.
Dammit, Ricky. The universe isn't going anywhere. You have time to ask your questions.

This is why religion exists. People crave simple answers for things that are way more complicated and can probably never be fully understood on an intellectual level by humans. They're not comfortable with saying "We don't know", whereas scientists use that phrase more often than anybody else.
Our brains evolved to survive and reproduce, not to understand the universe and its origins. Doesn't mean that we shouldn't try though.
I miss seeing stuff from Lawrence Krauss. Please come back, I need you and your knowledge to breath again.

I need the whole episode
There are two basic things about physics that I don’t understand. 1: Matter cannot be compressed, yet the entire universe was less than the size of an atom. 2: Nothing is faster than the speed of light yet a trillionth of a trillionth of a second after the Big Bang the Universe was pretty much as it is now. Which means that a faster than light incident took place. Can someone please explain?
