This is really one of the BEST versions of this song I've heard ever. The beginning with just is voice is phenominal. Greg Graffin has one of the most perfect voices in the music industry.

@@123Shado321 Lmao, it was awesome. They played a bunch of favorites, a lot from No Control. Great energy. It was the 20th anniversary of Stranger than Fiction so they played the title track, which is one of my favorites. Haven't seen em since, but i'd like to.
That intro is perfect. This is still my go to video when I want to hear Generator live, even after 5 years. Even if it's just for the first 90 seconds of the video. Hahaha.
This version gives me the absolute chills. Everything is perfect, Graffin's voice, Bobby's drumming, Hetson's tshirt. I was sad for the loss of Mr Brett at the time but 96-98 was bad religion at their absolute peak!!! They should've been the biggest band on the planet!
I saw them on that tour as well. Vancouver 86 st music hall. Green day had released Dookie but hadnt become huge yet. Seaweed from Tacoma opened. When they played generator that night is a memory that will live with me forever. The song always gives me chills..
Supposedly, Greg was tired of waiting for the band to be ready, so he started singing the song acapella. When the band was ready, they kicked in. Whatever happened... amazing version, somehow even better than the studio version.
Seeing them play this version live was (for me) the equivalent of seeing Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner live at Woodstock. It felt like a once in a lifetime thing. So cool to experience.
Just proves how great they are, that not only can they recreate the ferocity of their studio records live on stage, but they even have the ability to surpass what they committed to record! I LOVE this version of Generator, especially the intro where the boys leave Greg to sing acapella at the spur of the moment.. and when the guitar kicks back in he says "there it is!" I just love it! So spontaneous, they were ALL on fire that day in 96! :) Lucky people in the audience! Respect from life-long Bad Religion fan Davey in Ireland.. (My only complaint is that the video is cut short before the song ends)
Actually not, the song cut right in that moment, and jumps to another, you can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/kFiqjUODZcw/видео.html 👆 the full concert video
Saw them in Orlando the same year. The best concert I have ever attended. Ever. Graffin was this good from beginning to end, and he pretty much sang their entire catalogue.
God, I have a man crush, seriously! I played this intro at least 20 times, and I can't get enough of it.. Greg's amazing, that energy and emotion is simply incredible
Sounds like beer, Skateboards, hot concrete and bloody knees. Sounds like childhood, first partys, first girlfriend. Sounds like old friendhips, carelessness. And now, decades away, my children are hearing it. Sounds like pride? Yes. Greets from Germany 🤟
This is proof that Greg and the boys are true artists!!! Between their lyrics, the music, and his amazing voice...and NONE of it is produced in a studio by a bunch of machines...they have talent and make music what it should be!!!
He is one the reasons why i stopped listening to Bad Religion in the 90's. I think he is worst drummer Bad Religon ever had and he for sure is the slowest.
@@matthewcurry5792 yeah I’ve seen that pretty good. Would be excellent if a bad religion album with loads acoustic on like what Rise Against did with there’s
I have been watching this upload for 17 years now; thank you.
Same. I come back to it a few times a year. This was probably the peak of Graffin's live vocal power
this live version is just a masterpiece
I agree. The slow buildup is so great
Raphael Nether TOTALLY AGREE!!!
Man, i've heard this version live last week in São Paulo. Totaly awesome, i have no description to this.
Absolutely!
Just... Do it
After all this time, I still return to this as a "magic moment" in music history. Simply perfect intro.
Agreed. I watch this at least once a week.
Yup.
I am also always returning to this specific one..
Yup. I just keep coming back.

Better Tbh, that's why he's just amazing

"There's an ugly laughing man"
Greg giving me a shout out on the song.

Isn't it on the Tested version that he's pointing at one of the guys and get's a quick "He's standing right beside me" in?

December 3rd 2020 and still 🤘🍺
March 2021 and I've just found this for myself, and I can't believe the only Bad Religion song I've known until now was "Social Suicide".

Mr. Graffin.......... what a voice. amazing.
Goosebumps. Greg absolutely smashed this
