I never have a problem with officers approaching and asking - it's only natural. It's when they won't accept answers and refuse to leave you to it that riles me. These guys seemed ok.
It was not, it was totally unnecessary and a waste of their time on a job that the government is funding trough taxes of the very people that they bothered. They acted polite, which is nice but evil people can also act as good people, so dont be naive to conclude anything with their behaviour. I personally prefer the rude people acting rude rather than acting nicely and im not saying these officers were acting, im merely using logic.
Totally! That's why they came out without the high-vis, the stab vest, the cuffs and the weapons. I do wonder how long this auditing fad will last. If it hasn't happened already, there will be a memo sent from the ACPO detailing exactly how the plod should respond to Auditors. These 2 you met today are a sign of things to come, IMO. Probably a good thing in general, but not so much for the ad revenue of the auditors.

You have an excellently calm and non confrontational style. I was actually pleased with the measured and calm police response. All round, a good audit!
I think the police have a right to challenge people filming their police station and they handled the situation really well. They weren't looking to abuse powers and they didn't get stuck in a loop asking questions such as what your name was and what is your purpose. Likewise AA and SA did a fair audit. The police approach of determining your characters is all they need to do - you both complied and didn't give them a reason to be "suspicious" so they were very fair.
Notice how they totally ignored the fact that the last time a police station was targeted by terrorists was 1986. That completely blew their argument out of the window.

They were the best police officers I have seen hands down. I would defintley recommended writing to commend these officers as it is important to notice the good, just as much as the bad.
You made a good point that terrorists would just use Google maps, then the male officer says the ridiculous 'Google maps can be a year out of date' talk about clutching at straws.
And then he says they film outside entrances to see who coming and going. Which is totally and utterly stupid as anyone standing around for that length of time to see everyone coming and going would be pretty obvious. He's desperately trying to come up with excuses because his indoctrination just told him that police stations are attacked by criminals and terrorists and he realises that he needs to save face and not look stupid - when in fact it makes him look totally and utterly stupid.
