Every time this hymn is sung, I can see my dear Grandma making little crosses out of palms from Palm Sunday. The years since she left for heaven make no difference; the thoughts return. God bless!
As a choral director, I have used this song many times. Mr. Higgs has done a wonderful, flawless deliverance of this great song. Loved every second of his presentation.
Beautiful vocals with great diction and phrasing. I'm glad to hear the organist did not over power him. Awesome job for the organist and soloist. This is always a favorite on Palm Sunday.
Our Public High School Choir Director, Miss Hunt, taught us to sing this powerful hymn as part of the Easter Concert back in the late 50s early 60s! Have never forgotten it: I woke up this morning (Palm Sunday) with this hymn ringing in my ears! Amazing how good music can uplift us over the years. This rendition is lovely!!!
One of my longtime Palm Sunday favorites!! Outstanding!! Bravo!! Very well done!! This is such a beautiful piece and this is one of the best renditions I’ve encountered. Thank you for sharing!!
He has a truly beautiful voice well suited for The Palms. I, too, sang The Palms in both Episcopal & Catholic churches. It's lovely sung as solo with chorus. There is an older, better translation of the words, but I have not heard it with a better singer.
I'm a retired Lutheran pastor I used to play the piano and the organist played the organ part for a organ piano duet of the Palms we played at every Palm Sunday for about 15 yerars
‘The Palms’ was one of General President Dwight D Eisenhower’s favorite hymns and he requested it be sung at his funeral. May he rest in heavenly peace. 🇺🇸
As a child growing up in the 50s and 60s and singer in choirs from the age of six on this was my favorite Easter hymn...a soprano it was such a moving piece...just beautiful, so lovely to hear it so beautifully performed........
Beautiful voice singing a hymn we, the children's choir sang as we processed in waving palms in on Palm Sunday! Brought back such wonderful memories! Thank you!
Una voce potente e calda accompagnata magistralmente dall'organista. Il Sig. Higgs ha eseguito con competenza e padronanza. Bravissimi tutti.
Bravo Nicolas!! The last time I played this was for my 95 year old bass soloist at Donlands United Church. I was at U of T at the time A joy to listen to sing it today!
Such a TREMENDOUS job of one of my Favorite Sacred Songs ever written!!! Nicholas - how freakin great! Love your voice *and* your musicality! Excellent observation of rhythms tgat are so often ignored (Ho-sanna 16th note, etc) and very elegant turn/trill at the end of the chorus. (...btw, in Ab?) 😎😎😎
Beautifully sung.. had never heard this before.. also applause to the organist, my favorite instrument. Would be nice to give info on the Church.. where is it located etc. This popped up on my RUclips page. A+A+A+A+
Truly magnificent sound, both soloist and organ. The Organist is that rare performer, the sensitive accompanist-soloist. Perfect balance by two talented musicians. Playing this great, uplifting song, either with soloist or as an organ solo, is always a joy! 😊
For 152 years, we have been at the corner of Church and Queen in downtown Toronto. More recently, all of our services are also livestreamed to RUclips.
We are part of the United Church of Canada. In 1925, the Methodists, the Congregationalists and 2/3 of the Presbyterian churches in Canada joined as the United Church, forming the largest protestant denomination in the country.@@Totalfog

Tears of joy fill my 85 year old eyes…a glorious Hosanna to the King of Kings, and kudos to the soloist and organist!❤️👏👏👏👏👏✝️
I could listen to this young man sing this classic every day! The organist is perfect.

Your hymn playing is great - the most important skill a church organist can have. Keep up the good work!
Wonderful, Our Lord is smiling.

Fabulous voice! And he is so young! He will become a major opera star.
hope so!
Don't send him to the opera. Let him sing for the Lord, who bestowed upon him such great talent.

The lord gave him the voice to please everyone not just church goers.
@@samueljaramillo4221 No, not to please church goers, but to proclaim the gospel to the unsaved through singing. 😀😃

Absolutely beautiful. A wonderful voice. Beautiful message.
Absolutely beautiful voice and perfectly sung! Excellent organist and organ! Congratulations to both!

I played a duet arrangement on piano, with my mother on the organ, this Palm Sunday!
Love this beautiful hymn..used to sing this song in a choir with very talented musicians..so long ago..Will never forget the blessings..!

Merci à ces Messieurs pour une merveilleuse interpretation
The church I grew up in used this as a processional for Palm Sunday. Good to hear it again.
Such beautiful combination of voice and organ. Praise The Lord.!!
Stunning voice!!!
Bravo, Nicholas and Jonathon! Perfect blend of voice and organ. Totally spectacular!

So happy to hear this young man sing the solo that my Dad mastered in the 60's and 70's. Well done.

Beautiful!
A good baritone is so hard to find.
So true...the same with a true Contralto or Mezzo with proper tone quality.
I guess I have a Baritone cousin? 😂 😊 Well done!!
Wow!

Metropolitan United Church in Toronto, Canada. The organ is the largest in Canada and one of the finest in the word.
Truly magnificent sound, both soloist and organ. The Organist is that rare performer, the sensitive accompanist-soloist. Perfect balance by two talented musicians. Playing this great, uplifting song, either with soloist or as an organ solo, is always a joy! 😊
❤️❤️❤️
FYI, Nicholas Higgs has a wonderful RUclips channel reacting to the wide catalog of vocal music. "Nick Higgs the Singer."
Sounds like a Gilbert & Sullivan tune. Beautiful voice.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He looks way too young to have a voice that deep lol. Excellent performance, young fella.
he's only a Baritone...there are basses that young who singfar deeper
Q: In which key do you sing?
I understood too few of Mr. Higgs's words, and English is my first language.
Is this Metropolitan United in Toronto Canada?
Yes!
Where is this church?
For 152 years, we have been at the corner of Church and Queen in downtown Toronto. More recently, all of our services are also livestreamed to RUclips.
Thank you. It’s a beautiful church. Was it ever part of a specific denomination, e.g., Methodist, Anglican, Lutheran, etc?

If fate brings me to Toronto someday, I will certainly visit, and maybe Mr. Higgs will be singing 😊
Great voice, but the organ steals the show.
Sounds great! But he's a tenor. No baritonal depth. He'll figure it out!
Better in French.
it might have been nice to compliment the player and amazing singer here and then make your arrogant-sounding comment.
Nice performance but I really hate this piece due to so much overuse.
and here i am a lifelong churchgoer for decades and this is my first time to hear it. we sing from the different hymnbook i guess
superb rendition and accompaniment.
