I'm a BMW X5 50e owner, have had it for 4 months now; thus far we love it; if I have one recommendation; order the optional spare tire and replace the run flats before you leave the dealer lot. Run flats are crap, they are very easily damaged. The passenger front on ours had to be replaced, we've had it 4 months. The tire started losing air pressure soon after driving through a rough hwy construction zone at 45 that I take my non-rf through at 65 on a regular basis w/o having issues. What's interesting, it was clear from the body language of the BMW service guy he knew the tire was going to have to be replaced, as soon as he was told our issue. I checked the tire for a nail, checked for a bad valve, etc, could not believe the tire's integrity failed so easily. IMO RF's are unsafe and not up to dealing with normal road conditions. Honestly thinking about trading the X5 for the new Land Cruiser, if it has more issues that BMW ought to foresee and thus prevent it'll be gone. Had the new Land Cruiser been announced 4 months ago we'd have waited on it. When did buying a luxury car come to mean "on a first name basis with the dealer service dept staff"?
20 years from now there will be a trend reversal: Analog gauges and physical buttons will be considered a hallmark of craftsmanship and luxury -- not cheap cost cutting screens and touch capacitive garbage.
And the folk who bring them back and claim it’s a new invention. Just like people who think electric cars are new - when in fact they were around before ICE vehicles.
Same colour and shadow line combination as my 45e, but I have blue callipers and laser light with blue lines. Very happy with it. I only use petrol at long distance driving, which is roughly every three month.
Nice video, good overview, but I think they went too far with eliminating buttons… sorry, I want to have the buttons for AC and being distracted by setting a convenient feature …. So staying with the older models 😊
whats is your opinion on caliper colors, i will have dark grey car! Not sure of the Pop or "overkill" on the red...Also, for your car... is there a additional ( 3rd party) customization on the headlights and tail tinting?
Drove it briefly. We were there for a track event where we had to film 5 cars. So this is the best I could do in between all. The driving is what you expect from an X5: a bit punchier than the previous PHEV. No mystery really.
@@bmwblog is the logic behind x5’s a vague steering and lack of on center feel is due to: “it is a family vehicle - it doesn’t need a steering feel”? It makes no sense to me. It is because this is a family car it should have good steering feel to stay confident with how car handles and to feel safe. Below 50 mph this car’s steering felt very similar to Toyotas (not a complement) - very numb and loose. My biggest surprise was driving home on my 10 year old odyssey and realizing that it has better steering feel than 24 x5.

Folks, Stay away from 2024 X5 model. Received mine on 6/2/23 and its back in the shop with 165 miles on 6/8/2023. Faulty Turbo gateway. More to follow in next few days
Do you know if its a constant 483 horse power. Just wondering on road trips if the 483 HP is always their at highway speeds or cruising mode or does it HP drop when the battery pack is empty.
It has pretty much been confirmed that all LCI X5s have the new headunit. There is a thread on Bimmerpost. In combination with the latest NA press release, all 2024 X5s should be getting iDrive 8.5 starting in the fall.
Don't know if anyone will respond since this thread is old but I'm looking at buying one of these to use occasionally for long road trips. (roughly 850 miles one way) For long trips like that, which X5 would be better, the 50e or the 40i?
Is this BMW's best X5 to date?
BIGG YES, how can be a car like this be so underrated? I am shocked BMW not pushing and talking about this through marketing
Nope. M60i gets that title.
@@777triathlete bro in premium PHEV segment, you are referring completely different category

You might be right
Let's hope so!!!!

I hope you are right!

The battery cannot be charged while driving. 50e only has mode BATTERY HOLD which maintains current charge level. + recuperation, of course.
Nice review! I'm getting exactly the same model, only difference is interior is cognac instead of coffee.
Cognac is a good option also
It is Tartufo Leather, Not the Coffee.
I feel that it wouldve been much nicer if the battery pack can give you atleast 100mi range so i can just run eletric only for work (80mi rd trip).
Agreed. It would have been ideal
Wow, you have an X5 50e there, you're doing a video and you're not even driving? No driving impressions? Seriously?

Love these videos! Thanks Horatiu

Is it a detuned B58 engine or same? This one has the M Sport PRO package included the LED black front matte/glossy grills.
On its own, the combustion engine is good for 308 hp at 5,000 rpm and 331 lb-ft at 1,750 rpm. The e-motor has 194 hp and 280 lb-ft on tap.
Love BMW but reliability may be an issue in the future. Why don't they just use a REX powertrain like in an i3.
That tech is absolute. I like it, but it's gone

Good question. Need to test it. It's possible the battery has a safety net for holding charge
Any update? Thanks for the review!

Cause we did not have a chance to drive it then. We will drive in a month

LOVE to, if BMW actually still OFFERED a Diesel for the USA market. In the meantime tho, I ordered the X5 Xdrive 40i, with the M sport package.
Too dark. Film in the sun next time ...
Sure. We will coordinate with the weather Gods
Does this have the pano roof?
Good question. I don't recall.
Pano roof is standard for all LCI X5s
It’s not standard at all for all LCIs
Please to god, tell me we're getting the 550e with this exact spec as well.
Likely.
