Synopsis: "Shoya Ishida starts bullying the new girl in class, Shoko Nishimiya, because she is deaf. But as the teasing continues, the rest of the class starts to turn on Shoya for his lack of compassion. When they leave elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other again... Until an older, wiser Shoya, tormented by his past behaviour, decides he must see Shoko once more. He wants to atone for his sins, but is it already too late...?"

is it just me or does the vocie actors fit perfectly with the charactar's... we haven't hearn skoko's voice yet.

Gu the Tanuki why do you think they wouldn’t? They’re all professionals whose goal it is to put in a performance that they’re proud of and has an impact on the audience.
Aaron Frost - Some dubs are really terrible. It sounds okay so far but there are some scenes that are weird to work in English but work in Japanese in this movie. For instance, Shoko's confession. When she talks about how she loves Shoya, the words for love and the moon sound similar in Japanese yet in English, they sound like 2 different words. So it would make zero sense that Shoya would be confused on what she's trying to say given how they sound different. Also, the scene where Yuzuru eats with Shoya's family and Shoya's mom calls her "Yuzuru-kun" to emphasize that she's a male since at this point in the movie, you don't know that she's really Nishimiya's imouto. Elders typically do this to males in Japan, but in English, we don't use Honorifics like they do in Japanese so in English it would be strange for her to be surprised if they just use her name by itself. 9 times out of ten, they would include the honorific but it's just little things like that the movie plays on and it benefits from being in it's native tongue. That''s why they have to take extra care when jumping to English. It's more than just a simple voice over.

I'm going to see this when it comes out in theaters in the US. I read the manga online and I couldn't stop reading it. It was that good.
Any idea when it'll be released in the US? All I can find is UK releases
Eremikashipper 4ever I have no idea. I checked out the website for the distributor, Eleven Arts, and they only list theaters where it’s playing. Right now that would be Canada. In the US they only list one theater in California that played the film for only 3 days, November 24-26.

When is the United States going to get a DVD?
I'm so confused, it says "A Silent Voice" on DVD would be released October 30th, but I can't find it to buy anywhere! Is it only going to be released in UK? That makes no sense!
Is there going to be an official American DVD release of this film? I saw the dub in the theatre and LOVED it; so I really want to support an official release.

No, she calls him by his last name. Im a little upset that they changed it, but it's something I can live with.
@@elinacarmina3050 I mean there probably was a reason for changing it, since most dubs do the original last names. maybe it fit better with the lip syncing

I really like the dub for this movie as well as the original JP. They’re both unique and beautiful in their own ways and how they capture the tone and emotion of each character.
Overall, I’m looking forward to watching the dub and getting it on Blu-ray!
