Shamir: I can't serve when the lighting strikes my face.
Coach: Come on Shamir, suck it up, you can serve with lighting striking your face.
Shamir: i know I know I know.
Shamir's enthusiasm and willingness to learn is incredible. Makes me want to get on the court.
🙌
Nicola is like a walking tennis VAR system. He can spot the error in the technique live, and EVEN tell you which pro does it to. Legend.
This really could be a comedy series
I've always said it. They could be a comedy team.
"Nico and Shamir".
Or better yet,
"Shamico".
Nick is so good at pinpointing the issue. Keeping Shamir going until he gets it!
We will keep going 🔥
I say it every time, but I love Shamir 😅
🫶
I need a Nick in my life. Just someone to hype me up going through life.
🗣️🔥🙌
This format is pure gold👍💥👌😉
🔥🙏
The bromance is back...
I like that you guys keep going in the rain lol
Shamir has a great attitude and stays humble. With your guidance and his willingness to accept criticism and learn, he’ll definitely continue to improve.
Technical corrections are not criticism and should not be taken that way. Anyone who perceives them as such will have a hard time improving.
@@IntuitiveTennis This is pure wisdom, Nick. Please do not mind if I steal this advice.
Rain? What rain? This is the Shamir & Nik episode baby. No such thing as quitting.
Great video Nik.
M
Go Shamir! 😀😀
🔥🔥
Thanks Nic. Read my mind man because felt my toss was behind me too much on my kicker. Been slow and opponents been teeing off on it. Goood stuff!
🙏
"Exaggerate. Get it to 11, not 11:30" ❤❤❤ Great coaching tip and video stills!
🔥
At least it is warm rain not cold one we have in Seattle. Great video!
Haha def warm rain
Great job Shamir! I use the cones and it helped me out a lot my dude! Great job coaching Nick! Thanks for posting this video.
🙌
😂😂😂the rain 🌧️
Epic video
🙏
More Shamemes incoming. Practicing in the rain. Real tennis fanatics!
@7:51 "A few more before it gets to wet" I think that ship sailed.
“Too wet”
@@IntuitiveTennis auto correct is evil but thanks for the correction!
SHAMIR DA GOAT
🙌
Great video thanks
🙏
Something you have emphasized before but didn't mention here is that for flat & slice you uncoil more than for kick, so that for the kick serve the torso remains sideways and doesn't end up pointing in the direction of the ball trajectory.
I don't think you forgot about that nor changed your mind, so I assume you left it out in order to focus fully on the toss, and perhaps betting on the reduced torso rotation being consequential.
We were on the court for over an hour and focused on many elements. Video was cut to 9 minutes to focus on as few elements as possible. Main topic of this one was the 2nd serve toss.
Tossing to 11am felt super awkward when I was learning the kick. Still does!
Gotta keep trying
The Buddy cop duo is back!
Thank you for the video, Nick. I think pro don't have wrist lag on the kick serve. What do you think?
Just made a vid on this
Not a wrist lag but…

About eliminating the double faults, I got a question for you Nick. I play mens doubles on the entry level. I got about 3 years of taking tennis courses and my partner 1 year, we are both over 30, I am a few ranks above the lowest rank and my double partner is lowest rank. When we play in tournaments, I always have about a 50% first serve rate in and a 100% second serve rate in. I do this by mixing in some kick serves in my first serve and mixing in quite a lot of "grandma" serves in my second serve. From a mens doubles tournament perspective this is OK because never has anyone punished that 2nd serve, our level is just too low for that. However, my partner, with less experience, has just 1 type of serve. It's always the same hard kick serve. His first serve is 30% in, and his 2nd serve is 50% in, which is just the first serve with a bit less speed. We lose important matches because of these, today we lost a semi-final against moonballers, by him doing about 12 double faults. Most of the time his serve points are lost. I asked him "why don't you try a pancake grandma second serve on crucial points?". But it seems to be a kinda "I can't do it" or perhaps a hidden "I refuse to do it"... I don't know he's not really saying it. I think anyone can do that kind of 90% in second serve. But you as a trainer, what is your opinion? Should that kinda serve always be avoided even in a competitive setting, or should it be used as a safeguard to not always lose. Especially on doubles it can be a mismatch and i've seen quite some discussions among players on this online. Should I even be allowed to say anything to him about his serve, should I care, should I drop him as a double partner for not trying a safe serve, or should he drop me for trying to push him to a grandma serve... Perhaps good for a video and your feedback as a trainer?
Do you have to replace the balls after getting them wet like that? Or do you let them dry somehow?
They are savable if brand new, usually a hard smack will get all the water out and they eventually dry. Rain does damage the balls tho, not recommended, but in South Florida I’ve gotten rained on 1000’s of times, in the summers it can daily, so I try to salvage them.
3:04 ouchhhhhh....I was taught to toss over my head at 12. I'd give a try at 11oclock and a bit forward
Stay side on Shamir!
Any drills just focusing on the toss placement?
Haha you can suck it up, thats a quality smack down for an excuse of the rain:)
Shamir's problem is two fold. His back leg is dead, meaning that there is no lean on the release of toss to help get his toss arm vertical so there's no push back from ground up and no knee bend. At the strike point his shoulders are parallel to the net so the leading elbow has passed in front of his head. Get Shamir to turn his shoulders more BEFORE the toss so that when he strikes the ball he doesn't over rotate.
I cried for those balls😢
Tennis players in Florida don't mind the rain
We don’t
damn that rain lmao
i use my wrist on a forehand and i’m rlly good
if you can serve in the rain, you can serve when the sun is in your eye
Me: do it until I get it right.
Pros: do it until they don’t get it wrong.
I am a beginner but found a used pro staff wilson for a good price and bought it. but its 315grams? can i still play with it?
I don’t know, generally no but u might be able to pull it off. Check with your coach or go by feel
Is it possible to go pro even though i barely started playing tennis at 24?
@@nick_czem_nick656 and why is that?
I don't do kick serve... problem solved
The Hurricane 🌀 will arrive at 11 o’clock and kick you both over the net! 😂
Shamir needs to believe in you more , more work less talk 💗
His finish to be to the right of his body.
Take the 10 minutes to push all that water off the court.
The key seems to be the toss. Tossing behind your head is not intuitive. Not at all.
If you get the damn toss correct, then it is practically impossible to get it wrong.
🎾
Honestly it doesn’t need to be at 11 am, most of the pros have the same toss for their kick as their first serve.
If the toss is at 11 am every pro would just step in and crack the ball.
Even at utr 11/12 level.
The most important thing on the kick:
1. Brush up on the ball (pretend you’re hammering a nail towards the sky and go towards and finish on your side fence)
2. Use your forearm more to get that brush action instead of arming it.
Good trick is pretend your girlfriend/wife is standing on the other side of the net right in-front of the net and you don’t want to hit her. Kick it over her so you don’t hit her :)
@@pocketmatch8358 we’re not pros my man..😅
@@bmanbusee3812 so? If you try to have an obvious kick at 4.5 level even, people will most likely come in and take it on the rise and put you under pressure
