- Hey guys,
After I made my first video for my series, Polygel Dupes and Where to Find Them, I was contacted by the company who makes Gelike, EC Cosmetics. I was asked if I wouldn’t mind reviewing more of their products. They sent me one dip powder kit, 1 gelike in light pink, and 1 gelike in white, and one new brush. These items were sent to me for free to review. EC did not pay me to make this video. As always, I will endeavor to give you my 100% honest opinion. Also, the links down below are NOT affiliate links. I hope you enjoy the video!

Disclaimers (yes, plural. Multiple disclaimers!)
1. I am not a professional. My opinions are that of an amateur who enjoys doing her nails at home. (I hate that I have to add this because I think it is fairly obvious. But it is relevant information and important.)
2. I don’t want you guys to hurt yourselves. Please, read and follow the instructions given with any product you buy that you are unfamiliar with.
3. I am in no way sponsored by any of the brands used in this video. Seriously, I don’t have that many subscribers. No one is going to pay me for my opinion. My opinion is not for sale…but make me an offer (That was sarcasm, in case you were wondering). The links that I provide are not affiliate links. They are just links to the sites where I purchased the products in the video. (Unless they were sold out on that site, then I try to provide a secondary link.)
4. I buy a lot of stuff from wish.com. Most things from that site can take up to a (1) month to arrive. The reason I get more of my things from Wish rather than AliExpress or Ebay is simple; I have had better experience with their customer service. When an item I ordered is defective/lost/broken/ or not as advertised I just send a quick email with a photo of the product and a short description of the problem. As long I do this within 30 days of receiving the product then they will give me a refund. I almost never get refunds from Ebay, even when the items I buy fail to arrive. Also, the sellers are usually extremely rude. AliExpress has made me go through some really long return processes. I think they do that hoping that I will just give up and forget to get my money back.
traditional dip systems are, indeed, comprised of a Base made from cyanoacrylate (super glue) while, yes, the Activator may contain alcohol, it is the activators in the alcohol solution that accelerate the curing process. you can actually use activator between each coat to eliminate the 3-5 min wait. the formulation for Top/Sealer varies amongst dip systems (e.g. resin, lacquer, gel.) the most notable sacrifices of the low price, according to your experience, are the smaller size jar of powder (and net wt) allowing for easy over-spill, the exclusion of a bottle of brush restorer or extra brushes, and a lower-quality Top coat formulation.
i agree, your first time came out REALLY well.
you hadn't mentioned this, and it's hard to tell amongst glitter, but it's possible that the polymer powder was not as refined as usually associated with dip powder. the interaction between nail surface and powder was surprising. it didn't seem necessary to dip multiple times for the base to fully absorb, and the base didn't smudge due to pressure against the powder in the tiny jar.
great review, i wont be surprised if EC requests more review. viewers do appreciate your unfiltered testimonial
Michelle Crouse Wow, thanks for the info. I'm glad to know how it works and you explained it in an easy to understand way. I just need to figure out a less messy application process.
Love this reply!!
Love your coment very informative. Do you have a blog or something?
Awesome! I bought the clear one from this brand and it’s so opaque and grainy, almost bubbly looking. Is it because of the cheap materials used?
Very pretty! I wouldn’t mind trying this product.
I've never tried dip powder, probably won't try it but I did enjoy watching you test it out. Great job, looks good, you'll have to let us know how it wears. It's nice that the jar is so full, you need to pick up a dip tray and just scoop some of the powder into it, it won't be as messy that way.
I’d love to see a video of a full update of the gelike polygel after 2-3 weeks and how it holds up, I’m wondering if it would break or anything as I just bought a set after watching your videos!
By the way I just found your channel and I love it! 💖💖💖💖
Jess Meller thats not a bad idea. I just got the pink and white so maybe I'll do it with that.
When you do your review on the pink and white Gelike, could you please give us a shot of your C curve thickness? I am trying to use polygel (and dupes) with dual forms like you, but I am still having trouble with how much product to apply. Too much and it squeezes out everywhere, too little and I break whatever nail extension I made after just a day of work.
Really glad I found your videos and I'm looking forward to your next reviews!
mahtarrose Yes, I can do that. Probably should have done that to begin with. I swear, I always forget one thing.
Lol at that conclusion at the end :D
Really like the glitter. Looks great
The system I tried was Kiara Sky, and it appears the same. I though they were very thick. They were strong, and it worked brilliantly, but I could feel that it was on my nails. Maybe that is normal?
On a polygel kick now.
I love dip.. I think it's so strong.. But I use UV top coat and Acrylic powder...
Maybe not the glitter for strength. But beautiful color..
When you use a UV top coat and acrylic powder you can do two or three layers and it will be as thick as an acrylic set or a gel set . You don't need to buff before you put on your top coat layer unless it's for shaping and I use a no wipe top coat.
I do the same thing! It’s my absolute favorite way to keep my nails strong so they can grow. No smell and it’s super easy to apply
Thanks for reviewing this💖
You did fantastic for your first time dipping! Oh, if you would have seen my first set I did, you would be rolling on the floor.lol I had crusty base all over my hands and table and I had fingers glued together, and I'm pretty sure one of my nails ended up curing with the first layer of my skin encapsulated within. Lol
You can always use a 'Katch kup" with the jars of powder.
So can you show us how to remove this? Does it come off with acetone? I've been using the nsi system which is gel and acrylic and really like it as I can even do extensions and fills but it's a job to remove with soaking. Thanks for your review!
doppelganger_ nails sure, I'll wear them for a while then make a removal video.
If you dont have long nails can you use nail tips with the dip powder? Will the surface be even?
Awesome Vero you can use tips. If you uses tips try pouring the powder over the part where the tip meets you nail to keep the area from developing a dent
The base coat dried after the first use in the last kit I bought.
Try a scoop next time. And put it over the nail can you I would like to see it that makes a difference Compared to the dip
I am allergic to acrylic liquid did the product contains acrylic liquid?
Yes, it has acrylic דקלה אזולאי
new subby💓
Can i use fake nails with this
Can I do dip powder over my press on's?
Thetriggered One I’m not sure. I have never tried to use dip over press ons.
Moonlit and Polished it's problaby pointless but i did buy some dip powders so why not.
You can but it will only hold as long as your press-ons will stick. (Will not increase wear time of press on stickers/glue). Ultimately all it will do is change the color, make it stronger and make it thicker.
Arielle Binette thought so. I might try tips.
Thetriggered One tips are THE best way to go with this method. Its how they train us techs to use dip kits. After that its all about learning angles to dip and how to create the perfect apex for structure. If it cracks, its usually incorrect structure form that is the cause.
Be very thorough with cuticle prep and application (give yourself space) to avoid lifting.
