These are really good tires for true 50/50 dual sport riding. The trick for the front tire offroad, gravel, dirt roads is psi and setting the sag correctly, or a little heavy to the front. I do it with a Lust Racing Jack Up Link cuz I like the rear shock spring set to factory sag preload. With the sag being front heavy, the front tire really grips good, 15psi dirt roads and 12psi slower trail riding. Obviously u are not going to win any GNCC races with these, but matching the tire to bike is important. I ride my dual sports 2x as much with these tires cuz they are comfortable on pavement, cheap and do the job offroad with just psi adjustments.
Your review is spot on. Front tire 'sails through the loose stuff' and it is unsettling, but they are fine tires on well traveled dirt roads with not a lot of deep sand, mud, very loose gravel, etc. Indeed, feel more confident on paved roads than the 606's I had. Less tingling of the hands on paved roads, too.
I've been looking for a review on these tires. I have almost the same experience on my kLX300. The tires are great on the street and I push them hard. I put 2600 miles on the rear with less than 2mm of tread remaining, 80% street riding and 20% dirt (new tire has 11mm of tread). The tire would still work on hard surfaces including some rocky areas, but is useless in the mud at this wear point. I replaced the rear with another D605. The front tire has 4mm of tread remaining (new tire has 6mm of tread). I find the same experience that the front has a tendancy to wash out in sand and/or small gravel and mud. I find myself being more careful in the corners. I might try a more aggressive tire for the front, but still want to have good street performance. I have to ride on pavement to my normal "dirt" riding areas. Thanks for your posting.
Thanks for the report. I have a 2022 KLX300 that I haven't ridden yet - too cold, lots of snow around here and the roads are covered in salt and sand. My KLX will be frequently used as a mule (i.e., riding around town doing errands, etc.). There are lots of trails around here that I want to explore. Your description of how you ride and use your KLX sounds very much like what I intend to do. I've been riding streetbikes for over 45 years and I don't have any experience on knobby tires. I'm especially interested in knowing more about how hard I can push the D605s on pavement. Based on your feedback, it sounds that riding on the D605s is not a dreadful experience. Thanks again.
I'm having about the same runtime. My first rear was about 3k and second one is right on track the same. Trying a tusk d sport front. I'm at about 5700 mi. As of tonight.
Tire performance update.....just finished the TransAmerica Trail (TAT).... Aug/Sept 2022 from NC to OR...from NC to CO, I used the D605 rear due to all the pavement east of the Mississippi river, but for the front I used a Pirelli MT21 which is a 90%dirt/10% street. It was the perfect combination for this portion of the route. Lots of pavement which I had no issues with the MT21 smooth and with plenty of traction on the pavement, and it saved me greatly in the mud of MS and the gravel of AR and OK. The front D605 would have washed out on me for sure in the conditions I encountered. I know I would have crashed in the mud of MS. I am considered this to be my "all the time" set up for my local riding which is pavement and some narley gravel rocky roads on the Smokey Mountain 500. By the time I reached CO, the D605 rear was pretty worn out but the front would have gone another 1000 miles easily. In CO, I changed to the D606 front and rear, which performed perfectly all the way to OR. Hope this helps your viewers.
I have an old xt200 how do you think a 605 on the back and 606 on the front would do. In Arkansas mostly on the street in the Ouachita mountains but also on gravel roads and mild to moderate off road trails.
Nice review man! Which tyre did you end up going on the front? Do you feel the stock was better than the D605 in the front or the 605 is still better than stock just disappointing performance in comparison to the rear? Thanks for your attention! Cheers

On my KLX 250 i will be putting the d605 on the rear again, but I'm still looking into what I will use on the front. Thanks for the review! Great job
Try the Pirelli MT21...see my comments above
Been on the toughest sand and these tires did well and are good on street I like them
Thanks for this! I was thinking about ordering some. I'm planning to do more street than dirt riding, so they sound pretty alright.
