One that really struck my interest and is a January barnes and noble pick is: Song of Silver, Flame Like Night by Amelie Wen Zhao. (On B&N: "In a fallen kingdom, one girl carries the key too discovering the secrets of her nation's past-and unleashing the demons that sleep at its heart. An epic fantasy series inspired by the mythology and folklore of ancient China.") It is one of my anticipated books for the year and came out earlier this month. Can't wait to dive in.
MELANIE! 🥲How have you never watched Spirited Away and call yourself a Studio Ghibli fan? 🫢 We need to rectify this travesty with a movie night methinks 😌
From what I’ve heard from people who’ve read Anastasia, this book is not Sophie Lark’s typical writing style. It’s reads more as a historical fiction with a romance subplot. I do still want to read it but more for the old Russia vibes than anything else 😊
Currently reading Finlay Donovan Knocks Em Dead. I loved the first one and am really liking this one too. I have Grady Hendrix new one on the way and can not wait to read it! He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors
Yesterday I picked up How to sell a haunted house! I’m so excited for it! Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is my favorite anime!!! I recently started buying the hardcover Manga from Barnes and Noble too! I’m currently 50% of the way the through of The Southern book clubs guide to slaying vampires and for my book club we are on the last section of Ándale Prieta by Yasmín Ramírez
I read Highly Suspicious and Unfairly cute this week, just like you I thought It was an adult novel going into it. I don’t know how I missed it but it is indeed YA set in high school. I was less excited because I dont like stories set in HS however… Talia did a great job. I really liked it. She managed to set it apart from the Brown sisters trilogy imo, in the meantime you can still find her tone in it, the characters are as expectedly really cute, nothing felt cringy. It deals with the pressure of creating a future for yourself as a teenager while managing all your relationships : with your friends, family, yourself… I strongly recommand it :) Édit : I also read just before this book, Vespertine from Margaret Rogerson, I havent read Sorcery of Thorns so cannot recommand it based on that but I really enjoyed that one too, maybe because a lot of the names and places are french sounding and it is my first language, also the magic system was quite unique. It read really fast !
yeah, i’m currently reading highly suspicious and it is indeed very cute!! super different from her typical adult writing, but i can definitely see some similar patterns which is comforting❤
Anastasia - Sophie Lark is on Kindle Unlimited! :D I'm currently reading the last book in the Mindf*ck series; I love the books but they do have heavy TWs in them
I relate so hard to having to shop online for English books. 😅I'm a native English speaker but I live in Germany and it can be difficult to find some things here unless they're already very popular. Thank goodness for online second-hand sites. 😁 I'm new to your channel, so I'm not sure what all you've read, but you've talked about mythology and I believe fairy-tale-like books. I read a book that falls under the fairy-tale-like category in late 2021 called Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer that I still think back fondly on.
I am in my danmei era currently and I'm reading Scum Villain Self-saving system from Mo Xiang Tong Xui. She also wrote Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (which will get the final book in March so I'm patiently waiting for that) and also Heaven Official's Blessing (which has three more books to go till ending.) Next week should be released book two of The husky & his white cat shizun from Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou so that's on agenda next + to read something else than danmei I read Serpent & Dove at work and I'm also slowly getting through Babel.
So I finished Beach Read! And I laughed and cried like 4 times. It was perfect. I started Razorblade Tears and I hope I like it. I’m excited to eventually order How to Sell a Haunted House!!
I am finally on the last book in the Throne of Glass series, Kingdom of Ash and I’m absolutely loving the journey! I was wondering if you’d be willing to do a video on your take on how to read Cassandra Clare? I’ve been so intimidated because I wouldn’t even know where to start, but even if no video, do you have any suggestions?☺️
i would say to read the one that interests you the most! regardless of what order you read it in, i think she’s really good at refreshing past event/series information and allowing the reader to be in the know. although it spoils the end of the mortal instruments, i think the dark artifices is the strongest trilogy- followed by the last hours! so i’m definitely biased towards those two❤
I'm currently reading kaikeyi by vaishnavi patel....it's so good highly recommended...if you are into mythology plus it has some magic too....if you are not into mythology just give it a try maybe you like it...kaikeyi as a character is phenomenal...btw happy reading...
I read it and loved it. 4 stars though since it took me almost 6 months to read it cause I was really busy at the time and it kinda ruined my experience
I recommend that you read and might like under the udala trees by Chinelo oparnana the book is about a young woman growing up in the middle of the Nigerian Civil War and while dealing with the war and her father's death she also is coming to realize that she is a lesbian and she's trying to gain acceptance from her mother and except yourself for who she truly is deep down. This is a beautiful heartbreaking historical fiction novel about a young woman trying to blend into Nigerian society as a lesbian and trying to gain acceptance from her mother and find the courage to except her self for who she truly is I love openly and honestly in Nigeria.
currently reading the stolen heir and i'm very pleasantly surprised; I didn't think I would care much about Oak's character very much or Suren at all really but i'm having such a good time with it! i'm around 200 pages in and it's looking like a 4 star at the moment, i will admit though the vibes and everything is veryyyy similar to the cruel prince, especially Suren our main pov she reminds me a lot of Jude. loved this video though and potentially an unboxing or something when they all arrive?
Currently reading the priory of the orange tree and after that I’m planning on reading emily wilde’s encyclopaedia of faeries, which I’ve heard great things about on booktube/Goodreads! ❤
I need to stop buying books. I keep buying books these days and I need to slow down. I start watching your video and end up on a book outlet website in Canada where I live and.... I bought 6 more books🤭 Thanks for enabling, Lovely!!!💖
not me also being hyped for mysteries of thorn manor despite being underwhelmed by sorcery of thorns! 😍so glad you share my opinions, everyone seems obsessed with sorcery of thorns & i don't understand the hype
Currently reading CONVENTIONALLY YOURS by Annabeth Albert (its wonderful, amazing, cute, adorable, gay, precious, and just heart numbing poignant in all the right ways), and I'm blitzing through all of JJK that is currently serialized and printed in English. And gotta say... I might like the manga more than I like the anime.🤭
Currently getting into the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Reading pyramids by him at the moment and it's quite interesting, writing style feels different from others so it's taking longer to get used to it but good book so far
The Fullmetal Editions are similar to other series' perfect editions. Each Fullmetal Edition has 1.5 volumes worth of content. There are 18 Fullmetal Editions.
2:04 I’m not one to be superstitious but that reminds me of how when my family was planning on leaving Puerto Rico. My dad left first and when he left a bunch of weird things started happening to the house. We had a huge hairy spider and a giant frog on our window even though we lived in a hill.We still joke about how the house knew we where leaving.💀
Currently reading The Housemaid by Freida Mcfadden and 😳 I can’t put it down I also started a thousand boy kisses, and king of battle and blood Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on your new books 😊
Currently reading notes on an execution - highly recommend!!
Mel is my comfort RUclipsr🫶🏻

Anastasia was one of my top books of last year. I highly recommend it!!

the cover for this one is gorgeous!! i’ve heard amazing things about the author too, so i need to look into this one👀

I do still want to read it but more for the old Russia vibes than anything else 😊

omg i hope you’re enjoying southern book club’s guide- it’s one of my favs!❤
Ugh I can't imagine not being able to physically browse a bookstore and look for new, exciting books 😅
yeah, it’s bad over here😭 and we don’t have libraries either for these kinds of releases, so it’s rough!
Finish the first Finlay Donovan the other day and can’t wait to read the next ones!!🥰
7:07 This made me go look if I could pick these up at the library.

Sales on hardcover books are a weakness of mine. I always prefer hardcover over softcover!
